New XM Commercial: Baseball

XM's new marketing campaign continues with this new baseball-themed commercial. I'll try to find a higher-quality version, but you'll get the gist:

In a related note, XM appears to have kicked off an aggressive online marketing initiative, with ad spots found on MLB.com, YouTube and MySpace. They all point to this mini-site which matches their new "ON" look-and-feel. Hopefully this will roll out to the rest of the site because it's a vast improvement over the current design.
Thanks cb!

that mini site is crisp and simple but useful. i agree that the current site is awful

i saw this commercial last night. although i question the wisdom of touting "every game all season" when we're at most seven games from the end of said season. shouldn't they have touted the world series instead of enticing people to wait til next year to subscribe?

High quality-version here: http://www.xmradio.com/on/

Like I said earlier, they should integrate this look into their site.

it wouldn't make sense to only promote the world series games, because those can be had on tv and terrestrial radio.

every game, every team is the big sell.

Hello? XM? The season is OVER! What is wrong with you guys? You should have been running (this very nice commercial) in April!

Why would they start advertising this when the season's over with? Doesn't make any sense.

It's a unique commercial though (which is a good thing).

"Why would they start advertising this when the season's over with? Doesn't make any sense."

well the baseball world doesnt stop revolving after the world series....thats when it starts to build up speed.

there's also that little thing know as the 07 season and beyond.

Here's what I assume happened:

When lowes was signed to head up their advertising, the first thing they did is say "why would somebody choose xm over sirius?" One of the big reasons is MLB. Having just started creating ads for XM, the company is trying to promote baseball as quickly as possible while it is still going on.

before lowes, all you really got were ads saying "XM, the official satellite broadcaster of MLB." If you didnt know that they had every team, every game, all season, you might see that similar to a line like "popeye's - the official chicken of the washington redskins" and who cares about that?

I think Lowes wants people to realize that baseball is exclusive to XM and has every game, not just a connection to the league.

Because, um, it's the World Series and a lot of people are watching? Just a guess.

Can we already make preemptive comments about the Sirius spot during the Super Bowl?

"But the season's over..."
