New XM Commercial: The XM-erator

There's a new XM commercial out called the "XM-erator" - and it's pretty neat in my opinion. Watch it below:

One of the key thing about XM's latest batch of commercials is the music. I love that. They select a tune that matches with the theme of the spot, and that just seems to work. This commercial is tied to an online ad campaign (which, if you haven't noticed, are everywhere recently).

Anyway, I just thought it was neat as we're in the midsts of the final stretch of merger madness.

Thanks Roland!

UPDATE: There have been several requests for what the song is for this commercial. The artist is DJ Mehdi, and the song is “I Am Somebody” - you can hear the full song on his MySpace page.

They are not Howard and never will be. They do not settle radios already!

Best XM commercial since the falling sky one...

Why couldn't these companies come up with ads like this like 2-3 years ago?

The latest SIRIUS commercial is much better in my opinion. I can see why SIRIUS is dominating the retail sector.

Terrible commercial. Too hip for the room (just like the falling piano spot). The new Sirius ad is more focused. It does an outstanding job of positioning itself against the other forms of delivering audio entertainment and in selling the Sirius product. And I'm an XM subscriber!

You can plainly see in this commercial why Sirius dominates. XM better hope for the merger just to survive. They not only missed the boat on talent, but also marketing.

No doubt, the talent is nonexistent on XM. What have they got to offer? Ugh, nothing but boring ass baseball and hack ripoff artist shockjocks. Sirius has all the best offerings with Howard, Bubba, and Ferrall, as well as real sports that people actually give a damn about like NASCAR and NFL. If Mel doesn't take over both companies, then he'll just bury XM under the superior content on Sirius. Suck it XM/0.0 fanbois.

It is an excellent ad but I think the Sirius one is better.

It doesn't matter - satellite radio is on the verge of becoming a monolith that is no better than any of the competing technologies anyway.

And besides, retail is dead. OEM installs are where the business will live or die going forward.

You guys think XM needs this merger???...Well let me tell you that Sirius needs the merger more than XM could ever imagine. Its that way around.

Stack Pointer you are pretty ignorant, retail is not dead and never will be. Show me and OEM that can do what the ExpressRC can for one. That's almost like saying retail sales of CD playing head units is dead, been to a Circuit City or Best Buy lately? I mean the future of CD must be in OEM so aftermarket should be dead by now, right? I really love the stupid posts like yours. Gee I have a new 2007 WRX without satellite radio, I want satellite radio...I guess I'll go buy me a new car. Since retail is dead I have no other choice, right? What you meant to say was "I don't care about retail so noone else does, retail is dead!" Selfish simpleton.

>> Stack Pointer you are pretty ignorant, retail is not dead and never will be.

Sat radio had net retail adds of 15,000 units per quarter at retail last quarter, genius. If that isn't dead I don't know what is.

That is your opinion baseball is boring but I’d love to have MLB Home Plate on Sirius. One reason I am for the merger. Best offerings Howard, Bubba and Ferrell? I can’t stand Howard and find his show completely idiotic and pathetic but he is a proven winner in radio so I can see mentioning him as a highlight of Sirius. But Bubba and Ferrell? You’re joking right? Bubba and Ferrell are examples of lack of talent within the Sirius roster. I don’t give a damn about NASCAR and think it’s the most ridiculous I guess you would call a sport on earth. Cars going round in circles talk about boring. I love Sirius but to bash XM when your highlighting the lowlights of Sirius like Bubba and Ferrell is a joke and gives Sirius a bad name. By the way neither company individually is doing good. If either was doing so great the one doing so well would let the other bottom out and buy it at close to nothing. They’re merging because both companies need each other for satellite radio to even survive longterm and be profitable..
