The expansion of Opie & Anthony's syndication through terrestrial radio is continuing. Today XM Satellite Radio has announced that Chicago’s WCKG 105.9 FM will broadcast “The Opie and Anthony Show” starting tomorrow (August 1st), from 6am to 9am CT.
With the addition of CBS Radio’s WCKG, Opie and Anthony are now heard in 20 markets on stations owned by CBS Radio and Citadel Broadcasting.
The expansion to WCKG comes at the expense of Rover, who is moving back to Cleveland to call WXRK his flagship station for syndicating to 7 additional markets. Rover says the departure from WCKG was "a mutual decision."

The boys were discussing San Francisco as well; is that not confirmed yet? I think everyone's interested to see what they can do with Carolla's audiences.
As far as Chicago goes, I was half-wondering whether they'd try to air the show live 5-8 instead of the hour delay. If you enjoy calling radio shows, it must be really frustrating to live in the midwest... half the time you're listening to conversations where you know the hosts are still in the studio but they've moved on to something else by the time you hear them.
San Fran hasn't officially been announced but I have all the details on it. I guess I'll just do a separate post on it since this one is all about Chicago.

so they are going back to WCKG, except they are going to on in the morning. Good times. I first heard O&A on WCKG when they replayed their WNEW show at like 8pm. it's good they are getting back their old markets so quickly

Adam Corrolla has zero ratings out west, it would be no competition with him. who else is out there? XM has to be getting something out of this because they are the ones who announced it. i suppose it will be constant advertising on the show, which is a great payoff.
FWIW, (based on a quick Google search) Howard peaked at around 45 stations, including I'd assume the entire top 10 markets.

I hope it goes well for O and A. I remember hearing the old PD of CKG hated O and A with a passion. I believe he works at WSCR now which opens up the way for the boys to come back. I'm glad they won't have a five hour tape delay like before when they were on WNEW. Punchin out!
