I thought Jocktober was pretty funny and they actually had two jocks on that are from my local market. I did chuckle a bit to what they were saying.
I came to sat for stern and when I found the virus channel I really enjoy Ron and Fez.....,,tottaly underated! Fez watley for president!
The only thing I hate worse than two has-beens making fun of what they are and telling you during the bit that this is un-listenable but continue playing it and stopping for the 15th time and takes 20 minutes to get through 2 minutes of audio is that STUPID Ted character that Norton does I can't get to the volume switch quick enough to turn that crap off.

What's good about this is that O&A are highlighting one of the things that is blatantly wrong with terrestrial radio (and now, Sirius/XM to a large degree).
The chatty little morning shows where everyone laughs at each other's jokes, the same stupid bits, parody songs and fake phone calls, etc. Everybody does the same stupid shit and makes like it's new.
O&A are barely listenable to me, and Howard is just as bad. The shows are boring, uninspired and mailed-in. Quite honestly, most of these "Morning Zoo" shows are just retreads, and it's amazing that some of these hosts are able to hang on for as long as they had, with some even making it to syndication.
I don't mind O&A doing this, because they are laughing at themselves; unlike Howard, who believes he is the center of the universe (and makes sure that everyone on his payroll knows they are to tell him so). But Howard's behavior is a larger version of a lot of radio hacks who totally believe they are "the shit," when they're no more or less talented than anyone else.
I wonder if perhaps we are at the end of the line for personalities like these; when Howard retires, what is there to replace him? Bubba? He doesn't have enough to carry that torch, but then no one really does.
Imus will eventually retire from terrestrial radio, and O&A, Ron and Fez and the rest will fade away. I've not heard any new talent that have an ability to carry a full four hours or whatever it is five days a week.
Maybe it's just time for that all to end, and something new or different will take over. Remains to be seen.

Ted Sheckler has to be one of the worst bits I've heard, even Bill from Yellowstone was better than this blather by a hack comedian. Have you seen his Leno appearances? Sad showing from someone that is supposed to be so funny. He adds nothing to the show and isn't missed when he isn't in. I just wish they wouldn't bring Patrice in and just be the two of them and keep the f'ing interns out of the studio or not let them on mic as well.
I wish they were at least phoning it in at this point. October 2010 they will be gone and Howard will follow them out in December then Sirius can just close and mark it up as another failed business model.

Listen, I am a HUGE Opie and Anthony fan. I laught at their show endlessly. When they are on vacation and I listen to Howard, I don't even crack a smile. However, we can all go back and forth and continually rehash he old STERN vs. O&A arguments all day long and not convince either to change their mind. I just thought I would chime in with some positive remarks for the boys.
But that's not the point I am making here....
Blackdog is correct that O&A are making fun of the very thing that plagues Sirius, mainly the fact that this FM replicated sattelite radio service has the nerve to put a no-talent MORNING MASH-UP ZOO show on their most popular hits channel.
I don't know how many of you have had the misfortune of listening to this garbage. It's essentially 3 guys and a "hole" who come from no comedic background, are essentially college interns, and are being given a morning show comprised of toilet humor that isn't funny yet you wouldn't know it by the amount of laughter support they give each other.
It's the typical morning "fluff" you hear on all these FM radio stations but because this is satellite radio they get "edgy."
What surprises me is that O&A are very close to these no-talents even though they make fun of the exact kind of garbage these guys broadcast daily.
I just wish Sirius would get rid of all these DJs who feel that doing their own show is more important than the music they play.
For instance, my favorite 70s music is going to be interrupted on Halloween with one of the DJs trying to contact Houdini. I mean, come on, do we really need this tired FM garbage on sattellite radio? And Sirius wonders why people are turning to Internet radio which takes itself more seriously.
Leave the comedy to professionals like O&A and STERN. No need to subject subscribers who pay to hear music this constant amateur hour FM comedy from DJs and the like who just aren't funny. Just play the music!
You hit the proverbial nail on the head! What these "suites" over at Sirius/XM have done to our beloved satellite radio - basically turned it into pay FM - is unconscionable! We are listening to the very same thing that drove us away from terrestrial in the first place, but they are granting us the priviledge of paying for it; god bless their generous souls. There is no new talent on the horizon because most shows are structured by corporate, most radio shows are just copying what works, the days of an independent jock writing his/her own show are long gone. These companies have too much money at risk through ad sales, they need ratings. Not to mention most listeners dont pay that much attention to the origin of what they are hearing. These "chatty" djs are just following orders, laughing at the scripted bits handed down from corporate, people still tune in, and in most cases they get large ratings.
If O&A are laughing at themselves, why do they continue to do the same old shit you could hear on Bob and Tom for the last twenty years? O&A, Mancow, Bubba and every other second rate hack think they found gold with these character bits, I am so sick of this tired act. I personally think the O&A show is shit, one of the main reasons being the fake character bit. I have always hated this, when you are surrounded by the same people who write and approve of your act, you will always think whatever you do is funny. Its one thing on television to "dress up" as someone else, but on radio, this bit hasnt had a leg to stand on since 1985. The fact that these guys think its funny to ridicule these "corporate" shows and talent makes me sad for the industry. These dj's either go along with the program, or they find a different job. Not every corporate shill got the chance to follow Howard Stern every afternoon.

I've been giving his show a listen the past several weeks, and it's a lot more entertaining than I remember it being. You won't see me bashing him here, or anywhere. I also love O&A and Ron and Fez. They all make me laugh. O&A's Jocktober bits are on-target and hilarious, and Jim Norton's Ted Sheckler is just about the funniest damn thing I've ever heard.
I don't listen to the radio for music, I've got plenty of that...I listen for news and talk. My favorite radio shows in Portland that I got on podcast (Rick Emerson and Cort & Fatboy) were all dumped by the station they worked for, so there's no room in my life for terrestrial any more. I'm all about Sirius and XM these days. Everything else is the suck.

I am an O&A fan. However, bitter about Stern? That's where you lost your credibility Mr. Anonymous. I could care less about Howard Stern. I don't think about him and out of 365 days a year, I only listen to him when Oe&A are on vacation. The only reason I mentioned Stern was because O&A were taking a bashing here. I felt that something positive needed to be said. For the same reason you felt you had to threaten me --- simply because you disagreed with an opinion.
Which brings me to your opinion....

Recondo understands the situation here. All of us were XM Subscribers back in the day and are very upset that our satellite service has degenerated sharply ever since Sirius took over. What was once unique with quality programming has been reduced to FM radio with small repetitive playlists, chatty DJs that talk too much and unfunny morning shows starring no-talents that don't belong on a music channel, or for that matter, any service with "talent."
Why have I not cancelled? Tried to. Many times. But you know what? You try and cancel and you'll find out you can pay a lot less for Sirius FM. It's almost impossible to leave this service without getting a deal. What I end up paying each month is worthy of keeping Sirius FM for Opie and Anthony.
It's a shame you are bothered by the complaints. Actually, by your reaction, it seems obvious you are a Sirius employee. Many times we have seen their staff members go after people that complain on this board.

Fact of the matter is (and perhaps you have not been around long enough to see it), satellite radio has run itself into the toilet. The company is bleeding money and wondering why it can't sustain nor attract subscribers. The truth is, there is no value in a service that replicates FM radio. Give your subscribers something better than they can get for free and then you'll attract them. It's no wonder people would rather listen to Internet radio stations that don't try to be "whacky FM" and give listeners a wider variety of playlist selection.
I have to agree with Ronbo. This service is far from distinguishing itself from fm radio and for you to threaten violence against someone here crossed a line that should not have been crossed.
