Oprah & Friends Channel Debuts on XM
The Oprah & Friends Channel (XM 156) has debuted on XM Satellite Radio, though it's currently only a preview right now. If you tune in you'll hear introductions of each of Oprah's Friends, with background & bios on each persion, and you'll hear information on the shows to come.
XM has also started running promos for Oprah & Friends throughout other channels, advertising her coming to XM in September.
Looks like the Oprah buzzmachine is starting.

the 2 dollar question is "is xm advertising this anywhere else?"

Not my cup o' tea, but Oprah will most assuredly bring XM to the brainwashed masses...
Watch that stock in September!

Seriously though, Oprah has more diehard addicts/fans than Stern ever did, and they're all brainwashed, so when Oprah tells them to get XM, you know they will. Look at how 'classic' books have ended up on the bestseller lists because Oprah said so...

If you look at best seller lists, you will realize that it only takes about 60,000 to 150,000 copies sold to make it. The selling power isn't as big as everyone makes it out to be

Before anyone chimes in here and says "yea, that Oprah channel will work wonders", it has NOTHING to do with the channel.
It's all about Oprah telling them to buy it, and most of her fans will do just that.
Now whether or not she pushes the service is another matter. It's a wait and see game.

Great picture. The lighting is different on every face, no depth, no real shadows. "Quick, we need something for O&F, let's photoshop a bunch of headshots!"

Someone should record the loop and post it here for the brainwashed that like to say its just Oprahs 20 minutes a week program.
I for one am interested in Dr. Oz's show.

If Oprah goes around telling millions of people about satellite radio, then it will help both XM and Sirius, because a rising tide lifts all boats.
Anything to get the word out to the hoi polloi is good for satrad, no matter what particular service they choose.
Satrad is clearly on the way up, mainly because of the installation in new cars. Boring free radio is just that, and should wither on the vine in the coming years.
