Orbitcast on Bearing Drift Ohio Radio (in 1 hour!)
Long-time Orbitcast reader The Squeaky Wheel is hosting his own internet radio show today and I figured I'd drop by (virtually) and hang out for a bit.
Quite honestly, I'm considering launching "Orbitcast Radio" as a regular weekly show myself, so this could be a nice test run to see how the service would work out. Would "Orbitcast Radio" be something that you folks would be interested in? I'm hardly a 'radio guy' so this would definitely be new territory ventured for me.
Anyway, here's a link to his blog post on Bearing Drift Ohio, and here's a direct link to the show. This is a live show, so you can even call in and participate if you're so inspired (part of the reason why I'm considering doing this myself). The dial-in number is (646) 716-9244 and the show starts off at 2pm ET.
Listen in if you get the chance.

Ryan: You should give prizes for the first person to say "Baba Booey" *s*

Damnit, I wish I knew about this sooner so I could've tuned in!

It was a good episode... I believe you can download archived/podcast recordings of the show.
The amazing realization: you really CAN talk about satellite radio for an hour, and still have plenty of material that wasn't covered.

Thanks to Ryan for being on the 'show' with me. Damn this guy knows his stuff.
According to the stats, there were quite a few live listeners. I guess we were too riveting to interupt with a call :-)
You can download the show. Got to www.BearingDriftOhio.blogspot.com for the link or go to www.BlogTalkRadio.com/BearingDriftOhio
Thanks

Orbitcast radio would be a great weekly show on Sirius Stars (and given the ratings for that channel, if every reader of Orbitcast who has Sirius tuned in, it would be one of the highest rated shows on that channel) and on, I don't know, XM Live. Something covering what's happening on both sides of the dial of course and the issues confronting the industry.
The only question is whether it would tarnish people's perception of this as an independent blog (I have no doubt that it wouldn't actually affect the independence of the blog, but perception is a different thing).

Maybe you can get a show with XM management? You and E-Lo should have a 1 hour call in show.

He and the b-b-b-boys are both packing their bags and clearing out Bubba's new studio.

I doubt they would be packing their bags and going somewhere else right away. Mell is all about making money and if the boys are still able to generate any revenue, Mell would be a fool not to let them stay. He'd probably make their lives a living hell in the process, but I've always said that the boys work well under stress. Get Ant going on a subject and he'll yell and scream and do different voices for 20 minutes. If you piss Norton off he'll just scream for a few minutes which is just as funny because what comes out of him. and Opie...well if he'll jump on a homeless dude's cake, he's liable to do anything. and really, Howard fans will keep listening to Howard.
why should they care about O &A anyways? They do seem to care an awful lot based on what i've seen. Every time an O&A related story is posted, who is first to make a comment? I don't think I need to answer that one. Oh well, time will tell.

Well its obvious they don't make any money, since the Arbitron ratings showed that nobody listens to them in the first place. Keep the seats warm bbbboys, Bubba and Ferrell will be there soon enough to take over.

You guys really should listen to the show... Ryan and I talk about how ANY conversation about XM or Sirius always degrades into fan boys talking trash baout O&A or Howard.
Really, neither side ever says anything new, and people like coward always talk as if they work for Howard or O&A.
LOVE peanut gallery experts. Brings so much insight into the conversation [rolls his eyes]
