MTV1981. Ronald Reagan became president, the Delorean was born, mass quantities of yayo flowed over our borders, and of course, MTV launched on August 1st.

SIRIUS Satellite Radio will pay tribute to the historic impact that MTV has had on music and culture, with four of MTV's original VJs recalling the occassion on SIRIUS Big 80s (ch 8). SIRIUS' own on-air hosts - Mark Goodman, Nina Blackwood, Alan Hunter and Martha Quinn - will all celebrate the launch of MTV with a special two-hour show: Big '80s Celebrates MTV at 25.

The four will share their memories of MTV’s launch and play songs from the videos the then-new cable channel aired during its first few hours of existence. Goodman, Hunter, Blackwood and Quinn, along with the late J.J. Jackson, were the five original faces and voices of MTV when it debuted on August 1, 1981.

Big ‘80s Celebrates MTV at 25 will replay on August 1st at 4pm and at 9pm ET, and on August 2nd at 3am ET.

cool....those 2 hours of music will be more music than MTV plays in a day.

nice.

2 hours to celebrate 25 years. I'm sure they will love to talk more than they already do, instead of playing 80's hits.

You have to wonder how long the "Martha Quinn Effect" will impact Sirius subs.
