Tiger WoodsThe 91st PGA Championship - golf's fourth and final major championship of 2009 - will begin airing from Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minn. on your satellite radio, starting today and running through Sunday, August 16th.
Sirius XM's live coverage (on XM channel 146 and Sirius channel 209 with the "Best of XM" programming package) will feature host Bob Stevens and analyst John Maginnes, with hole-by-hole updates from roving reporters Mark Carnevale, Fred Albers, Larry Rinker and Chuck Garbedian.

On-course coverage will start Thursday and Friday at 10am ET and Saturday and Sunday at 11am ET and will continue until the conclusion of each day's play.

Play-by-play will immediately be followed by a wrap-up of the day's action on PGA Championship Replay, which will include a recap of the day's action with highlights, analysis and interviews with players.

Following Sunday's live coverage, the final three hours of the final round will be rebroadcast from 8 - 11pm ET.

Hazeltine previously hosted the PGA Championship in 2002, with Rich Beem defeating eventual four-time PGA Champion Tiger Woods by one stroke. Padraig Harrington is the defending champion of the event, having won at Oakland Hills Country Club in Michigan last year. This year's field includes Woods, who is seeking his 15th major championship victory, and Phil Mickelson, winner of the 2005 PGA Championship at Baltusrol.

Oh Boy! Golf on the radio!

yawn. the only thing more boring than actually watching it.

Golf on the radio ! Fucken A ! I wonder if tom taylor will masterbate to play by play of Tiger Woods ?

The 1st post stole my thunder. Is this really safe? Golf on the radio? People should not be driving while listenign to this. If that don't put you to sleep I don't know what will...

Next week:

Paint drying Championship airing on Sirius XM through Sunday

Just great - Tiger and Sirius/XM! When the obnoxious, A-hole fans scream "in the hole", they may be refering to the companies balance sheet.

That must've been some of that "Senior Note" money Mel hustled!!!

I'm not slaming a man's game and I don't play golf myself but to me listening to golf on the radio would be like listening to championship billiards or bowling on the radio. Some things are just visually oriented. But knowing how Mel and his crackerjack team of programmers do things maybe the Bowling Channel is just around the corner(using some of that Senior Note money again)

Take the Playboy radio channel for instance. XM offered it to me way back in Feb 2002 when I signed on. Never even entered my mind to get that as an extra. Never could figure that one out.

If there ever was a visually oriented medium, Playboy is it. Who "listens" to Playboy??

There's one concept I've never quite understood--golf on the radio.

I've heard some of the coverage, and I don't know who the screaming freak was doing commentary, but I thought you were supposed to STFU on the course when someone's playing their ball.

I can think of other wastes of air space, but this one's right up there.

1. I love to play the game
2. I have found myself listening to PGA events thanks to XM in my car. I also have listened to other programs the channel airs.
3. Steve O with the post of the year!

XM has been broadcasting majors and other events for quite a while now. Not sure why this is news. I do play and will tune in on occasion just to see the leaderboard scroll by.

i remember when howard and bobby jones played a round back before the pga even existed.inbetween the 13th and 14th hole howard leaned into bobby and said "we should start a pro tour so we don't have to play with hacks like opie and anthony"
bobby said "shouldn't everyone have a chance to play on this course with you and i"
howard replied "not on the course i invented"
and robin said"oh howard"
fred said"your right howard"
gary said"you invented this game boss"
and artie threw up on himself

viva la revolution

Brought to by the same folks that gave you, theme time radio hour with bob dylan, oprah radio and constant replays of americas top 40 countdown with casey kasem!! Thanks xm, without you, this horseshit would dissapear forever.

Theme Time Radio Hour was one of the most listened to shows on XM. Very popular. At least it was only an hour and not all the time like E Street, Buffett, or the Dead channel. Not a fan of Oprah, but Sirius did have Martha Stewart first. American Top 40 was radio history. Unlike that crap Sirius brought to the table called The Morning Mashup. Thanks Sirius, without you, crappy shallow playlist and constant DJ blather would disappear forever.

You forgot to mention Jason Ellis and Bam Margera, they belong in the throw away pile as well. This company needs to stop hiring non broadcasters. I dont care how popular theme time or golf are, neither belong on the radio. Whats next? Pro bowling. Why not, I'm sure there are as many bowlers as golfers, if not more. The reason golf is on satrad is so the pompous assholes as sirixm can do remotes. I guarantee a polka channel would have more listeners. Fuck Golf(ers)!!
