Pioneer Inno: Daylight Savings Time firmware update
Ah yes, the lovely new Daylight Savings Time (thanks to the 2005 Energy Policy Act) has not only caused your IT department to lose their hair, but has affected satellite radio receivers as well.
Yes, it's amazing that we can launch multi-million dollar satellites into space, but we can't seem to fix a simple DST change. (Remember when we had to change the clocks by ourselves? Yeesh! How did we ever survive?)
Thankfully, the Pioneer Inno (as well as the Helix/Nexus) have a firmware update to fix your clock so it follows the new Daylight Savings Time crazyness. Oh, it adds a couple more things as well. Like support for Audible content (OMG!) and the ability to skip ahead in more than 5-second intervals (OMFG!).
Oh, and for you Stiletto owners, Sirius has issued a technical update about the DST issue with a temporary workaround. S50 owners are in the clear.
Click to download the Inno/Helix firmware or follow the jump below for the full firmware update features...
The new Pioneer Inno firmware update includes...
(1) Battery life when the radio is off is extended considerably when starting from a fully charged battery.
(2) The "/" character is now always displayed correctly when the display is running in the large, scrolling format.
(3) Corrected a problem in which the digital clock on the radio occasionally displayed the incorrect time.
(4) Users will now be able to play their personal collection of MP3 and WMA files without XM subscriber activation.
(5) Daylight saving time date/time handling has been updated to match the DST dates described in the Energy Policy Act of 2005.
(6) Audible.com support was added.
(7) Short duration of Live Audio can no longer be briefly heard when powering up into MyMusic or MyBooks mode.
(8)Previously, the file/path name size of mp3/wma and playlist files had a limit of 100 characters. This maximum file/path name size has been increased to the maximum DOS length of 260.
(9) Items which are too long to fit on the screen, such as session names, are now scrolled.
(10) Previously, the ffwd/rwnd speed in MyMusic mode was fixed at 5 seconds per jump. Now, the ffwd/rwnd speed accelerates. The longer the button is held, the larger the jump.
(11) In live mode, holding the left key down for more than 1 second will activate the jump feature.
(12) A memory usage screen has been added, under the "settings" menu.
(13) In the artists, categories, by channel, record session menu items a menu option has been added that allows the deletion of all unlocked songs. This includes the sub-menus of both find and organize. The option is only present when potential items to be deleted includes locked content, or content in playlists.
Thanks Matt!

I noticed that for a chunk of Sunday afternoon, the time on my XPress was stuck at 2:41. Anyone else have issues?

By any chance are they going to do this for the Nexus? I'd love to have a firmware update to allow the faster skipping ahead than 5 seconds at a time.

I just updated it and it works GREAT! Thanks XM!

Ultra-powerful FM transmitter > correct time

I never use the FM, so after all these months (I've had the Helix since April 2006), I finally upgraded from v1.05. I must say, the "jump" button without using the remote is very nice. I really am tired of the battery issue, as I use the unit as a portable in the Spring, Summer and Fall. Giving up the FM mod, for me, was no problem. If I used this in a car and FM mod was the way to go, I would not have done it.

I still use the FM Mod. To fix my clock I changed from Eastern (where I live) to Atlantic timezone. I figure that I'll have to change back during the regular time change in a couple of weeks, but in reality, it takes about 20 seconds and it will allow you to keep your 1.05 firmware. So, just jump ahead one time zone from where you are currently stationed and your clock will be fixed.

Yep its already got problems. ):
The sechudle recording feature was screwed up somehow!

'Tis true. Scheduled recordings don't end unless manually stopped.

At least you guys can get yours to record! Mine stops after 30 seconds or so. "Signal lost," even when both satellite and terrestrial are at full strength on the antenna aiming screen. I've had this thing for almost a year, and this never happened until I did the latest firmware update.

i have also noticed that the inno now won't stop recording unless you turn it off yourself . when will xm stop replacing old bugs with new bugs.

Happened to me also last night. When I woke up this morning, had to manually stop the recording.

I just thought I'd add one more really important fix included in this patch - My Inno now works with Vista!!! I could not get Napster, running on Vista to see it, even though Windows recognized it. This fix wasn't documented anywhere, but as soon as I applied it, everything is happy again.
