President Jimmy Carter interviewed on Sirius

Jimmy CarterFormer President Jimmy Carter sat down for an interview on Sirius Satellite Radio to discuss his recent peace mission to the Middle East, among other topics, with Sirius host Alex Bennett.

Carter also talked about the current democratic presidential primary and his new book A Remarkable Mother about the life and legacy of his mother, Lillian Carter.

In addition, the former President discussed his controversial meeting with Hamas.

"We got what we wanted from Hamas. They agreed to a lot of very important things," said former President Jimmy Carter during the interview. "First of all they agreed to propose a cease fire just for Gaza, where as before they [Hamas] were demanding Gaza plus a West Bank. So they made that proposal, unfortunately Israel turned the proposal down, which could have stopped the rockets going into Sderot and could have brought peace."

President Carter's also added his thoughts on how he believes the Democratic presidential primaries will be resolved.

"I feel after June the 3rd, there will be a fairly clear identity of the winner," said Carter. "And then, in my opinion, the super delegates including me will go along the way the American democrats have."

You can hear Alex Bennett, a self-proclaimed radio gadfly, on "The Alex Bennett Program" weekdays from 9 - 12pm ET on Sirius Left (ch 146).

Hi Mr. President:
Thanks for coming by Sirius. Let's get started.
Any idea why you were a lying sack of shit while over in the Middle East?
Do you have a reason for saying that Hamas would allow Israel to exist in peace for 10 years, fully knowing that Hamas only exists to destroy Israel?
Any idea why Israel would not even acknowledge you were over there?
Are you really just a dumb ass peanut farmer who will now go down as the 2nd worst president after the bumble-retard we have now? Did you really think you were going to go over to the Middle East to broker a peace treaty so you can get a Noble Peace prize you always thought you should have won back while you were in office?
anything? nothing?
OK...Thank for coming by Sirius you schmuck!

Some people would call Carter a has been, but in reality he never was. He has got to be the worst president that we have ever had. If only he could keep himself to building house and out of governmetal affairs. Totally embarassing!

Dumb or is that his cover for being a traitor?

I have long wondered how he can be that stupid.

He loves Evil People so lets send him over to the FCC.

If you ever saw what Israel do to the Palestinians, then you would know why groups like Hamas exsist. The Palestinians have been repressed by the Israelis, causing the hatred going on today. Remember that the Palestinians had their country taken away from them and re-named it Israel. The jewish people that migrated there were repressed and slaughtered by Hitler and his evil henchman. Now they are repressing the Palestinians. The Palestinians are blocked off, surrounded by walls and forced to live in poverty. And you wonder why like Hamas exsist.
President Carter is at least trying to come up with a solution and bring peace to both peoples. Israel is for all People, Christians, Muslims, Jewish,,,,,,,,, etc. NOT JUST THE JEWISH PEOPLE IN Israel. At least someone from the ouside is trying. Hats off to President Carter.

Jack, the "Palestinians" did not have a country to take away. They were living alongside Jews in a British colony, which had previously been a Roman colony and previously, well, what do you know, Israel. There are no Palestinians because there has never been a country of Palestine. There are Israeli Arabs, who live and work in peace in Israel. There are Jordanian arabs.

The so-called Palestinians left Israel in 1948 when their Arab brothers warned them that Israel was going to be attacked. They were promised land after Israel was wiped out...we all know what became of that. Arafat, the "Palestinian" hero, was Egyptian...what was he doing there? What became of the billions in aid given to them? He stole it. Their condition isn't Israel's fault, it is theirs, and if they renounce violence and farm, as the Israelis did, they could do fine. Until then, let them face the consequences of their actions.

Jack:
Good that you brought up the fact that while Israel tries to see what can be done to create peace, Hamas keeps lobbing bombs into Israel all the time.

Israel is for the Jews....pretty much the only reason it was created.

"He has got to be the worst president that we have ever had."

can i have the address of the cave you been residing in the past 8 yrs?

THE LAND OF ISRAEL IS FOR ALL, AND NOT JUST THE JEWS.

Dude, read your Biblical scriptures. What you are spouting is propaganda that you've heard on the news for years. Israel was given to the Hebrew (Jewish) people by God himself beginning with Abraham. It has never belonged in any way to the Arabic peoples. This current Jewish-Arabic battle has been going on all the way back to the days when the illegitimate son of Isaac, (Ishmael) declared war with his half-brother Jacob (the true heir of the land and which the House of David lineage would bring the Messiah into the world). Ishmael tried to make the inheritance his own.

After the fall of Jerusalem in AD 70 by Titus and his army, the Jews were dispersed (and suffered persecution and near annihilation by the Nazis) until after the war and in 1948 when they returned to the land that was rightfully theirs by Divine Heritage. By the way, Hamas is an Arabic militant organization whose charter calls for the complete destruction of Israel. That's not news if you know the scriptures. But also, if you understand Biblical prophecy and history, you will see what will happen in the middle east region in the years to come. Bottom line, Israel will be delivered in the end by the God of Abraham (our one true God in Western culture, the Father of Jesus Christ the Messiah).

Throughout history, the Jews have been prosecuted because they have rejected their Messiah (Jesus Christ) as a people, instead clinging to Orthodox practices. The Orthodox insist on doing this again and setting up the Temple of Solomon again (which is happening now - Google Solomon's Temple or Rebuilding the Temple in Jerusalem); at some point in the future, a powerful world leader will get Israel and the Arabic nations to agree to a peace accord and the Temple and the Dome of the Rock will exist in tandem in Jerusalem with everybody happy. But it will come to the end when the Jewish people are betrayed once again and murdered and enslaved en masse.

The power grid of the world is going to shift to the middle east as it will become the center of trade and commerce (see Dubai). The United States is destined to become an integrated region of the world, combined with Mexico and Canada to be called the North American Union (NAU). But i digress...

Suffice to say, the Palestinians are terrorists that took Israel's land when they weren't home and the Israeli people, when they came home, took it back. How would you feel if you were forced to go away somewhere and upon your return, someone had stolen your home and land? The Israelis allowed the Palestinians to stay on some of the land but they want it all. They do not recognize Israel's right to even exist as a race. That's hatred, that's ethnic hatred, that's Arabic Hamas Jihadist doctrine. How is that right? How is that just? You tell me.

I think the American Indians need a visit from Carter as well.

Oh and for "Obama's Smooth ass" you obviously aren't old enough to remember the SHIT that Carter put us through. If you think the country is bad right now, you have NO IDEA what this idiot did to the country.

He gave away the Panama Canal.

Painting Israel as the good guys here isn't going to fly for the types of things they've done to the Palestinians for the past 50 years. I'm not saying that either side is innocent. Hamas was formed covertly (funded covertly by Israel no less) with the intention of getting a government for the Palestinians, so beyond that, they are a political group (the problem is that political groups in Gaza and the West Bank tend to have militant wings attached).

Also, let's put some stuff into perspective: would we as Americans act any differently if another set of people fired into crowds, shot rockets into residential areas and bulldozed our homes cause "we didn't get a permit"?

As for the biblical stuff, well, you can shove that where it belongs. This started out as a land war, and if I remember right, I don't remember the British willingly giving Israel independance (story for another time). Also, what's the ratio of ashkanazim to sephardim in Israel?

So yeah, there is a land conflict that has spun out of control into a mired situation now being flavored with religion (if it weren't bad enough already) and Carter has the balls to do the thing our current president hasn't done so far... Talk first without shooting something.

No, I wasn't alive when Carter was president, I grew up during Reagan, but even still, I see less controversy in trying to solve the problem than continuing to perpetuate this shit any longer. If it requires boots on the ground, so be it, but one way or another, the Palestinians should be allowed a country, that country shouldn't be filled with refugees, and with any luck, it should be able to interract with Israel, and if not, then with Egypt, Jordan, and Lebanon (though Lebanon has their own issues going on right now).

I'm not anti-semetic, I'm not anti-Israel, but I am pro-Palestinian country. This conflict has affected and mired a large number of other conflicts in the area and it's the problem we should have focused ourselves on instead of Iraq.

Just a comment for Jack and Pandrogas, you guys know nothing of history and it appears that you learned your history from the propaganda filled history books that they teach from in the Middle East. The so-called "palestinians" were offered a state way back in 1948. I say so-called "palestinians" because back then the Jews who lived in Israel were also called palestinians, as was any resident of what was then called Palestine. It was Arafat himself who played a part in orchestrating the propaganda effort of identifying the arabs with the land by calling the arab residents in Israel "palestinians". Before that time, arabs identified themselves as Egyptian or Jordanian. This idea that you have that Hamas or any of these other terror groups would be peaceful with the Jews given different more prosperous circumstances is ludicrous. There are many accounts of how empty Israel was before Jews began coming back in the late 1800s. And it's been well recorded the fact that arabs in the region began coming to Israel after it began to flourish and become prosperous. In fact, before the intifada, arabs living in Israel did quite well. The fact is that the arabs refuse to live in peace with Jews simply because they are Jews. So stop kidding yourself. The word 'peace' in Islamic culture carries a very different meaning from the rest of the world's idea of 'peace'. We see 'peace' as people living together peacefully, without fighting and without hostility. The word 'peace' in Arabic and the idea of 'peace' according to Islam, means a world that has been taken over by Islam. It is not un-peaceful to wage war on "non-believers" according to Islam. In fact, quite the contrary. Waging war on "non-believers" is working towards the goal of 'peace' according to Islam. So stop deluding yourself that Hamas would be peaceful if only they weren't victimized. It's non-sense. They are victimizing their own people by perpetuating war.

Carter was bitten by a syphilitic rabbit in 1979. The dementia grows.
