Projecting Howard Stern's Subscribers
Bridge Ratings has just released a graph that reflects their data since October:
Bridge does state that with the start of Stern streaming online, they'll continue to track and report on the affect this may have on Sirius subscriber adds. It'll be interesting to see if a change does in fact occur as the buzz about Howard is getting somewhat renewed as of late (streaming, the tapes have arrived, CBS Radio settlement, etc).

Renewed buzz? Only here and XMFan... I've heard nothing in weeks from anywhere else...

Just as many predicted, the so-called "Stern Effect" is subsiding by end of end of the 2nd quarter. Pretty disappointing for Sirius.

Failure..........

Who invented Bar Graphs anyway? I like them they are pretty.

Total failure. I knew the most popular radio host of all time would fail.
these reports are bullshit. how do they know? do they have a form that sirius subs fill out at every purchase? come on, 900,000 subs at his announcement, 4.5 mill now in one and a half years. I guess thats a failure.

i dont remember at any point, having four sirius radios, 2 jvc plug and plays, and 2 s50s, of ever completing a survey. and i know that sirius cannot monitor what people are listening to. it is a one was signal. so how can this information possibly be accurate. where did these results come from??? if it is a radio backed survey (fm/am) then im guessing it is biased. there is no way to really know what anybody was thinking when they bought sirius what their intentions for buying were. i think sirius should send out questionnaires to finally squash any and all reasons for subscribing. i for one originally got all four of my radios for howard, and i do listen to other stuff from time to time, but the timelines dont lie. almost four million listeners got the radios for howard, plain and simple

sirius will be out of business within a year. the virus is spreading to free fm and nobody is going to pay for old hoo hoo when they can here o and a for free. o and a have a better show and actually care about their fans. hoo hoo just wants to rip off his fans and get rich off of him. the boys always win in the end and this is just the latest example. O and A Army, spread the virus!

The Bridge report... C'mon

Posted by: DOTHEADCENTRAL | June 19, 2006 7:10 PM
Bullshit... How do they get their data, call 16000 random people and ask if they subscibe to sirius because of howard? I can make bar graphs too...

come on, 900,000 subs at his announcement, 4.5 mill now in one and a half years. I guess thats a failure.
I have to agree. Just look at the numbers for sirius and you'll see the growth.
Just like over at XM. O&A slated to start on 10/4/04 and an XM press release states having "more than 2,500,000" on 10/1/04...then a year an a half later XM celebrates having over 6.5M Not including the unsold cars, the 14M that have DirectTV, and those that have been streaming the show online for the whole year and a half.
Oh, and the 11 CBS markets.

Howard Stern is not a failure folks. That being said, it was foolish of anyone who thought that the "Stern Effect" would last for his 5 year tenure, or even beyond the first year. His loyal (or rabid) fans are just that: loyal. And the majority of them came aboard already. The online streaming will generate some buzz for sure, but the big rush is over.
And Ramone, whether you are a true O&A fan, or Stern fan trying to cause trouble pretending to be an O&A fan..... give it a rest already. You and a few Stern zombies are what's ruining this site. There's room for both fans here, just keep it civil.

SatelliteRadioFan I find that really offensive that you would call me a hoo hoo fan. I am probably one of the top pests on this site and am constantly trying to help spread the virus. Like I said before we always win in the end so you should just get used to it and stop crying when you see your hero Hoo Hoo losing.

FAILURE!!!! You guys love to call his competition failures. So im saying it about this. Howard sucks, Sirius sucks, GOOD DAY!

Posted by: bobo | June 20, 2006 5:06 AM
Ramoron,
You are right, you are one of the top assholes on this site. The only think you spread are your legs for O&A.
It doesn't matter what you say, nobody takes you seriously.
You said Sirius will be out of business in a year.Where do you get your facts, please inlighten all of us.You just proved you don't care about satellite radio.People here are interested in the future of radio,we have a passion for new technology.
You also said Stern is getting rich off of his fans, what about O&A.The only reason they took the gig at Free FM is for money, who are you kidding.
Everybody in the world is trying to make money to better there lives,is that a crime. Please do us all a favor post something with intelligence.
Now piss off before I call the Orkin man to exterminate you and the rest of the pests.

Perhaps some trolls here need to go to a pat battle or a sticker stop. Whichever offers the most anal pleasure, I suppose...
Posted by: MikeHunt ? | June 20, 2006 9:38 AM
Right. It's not like XM's stock at its lowest point in almost three years.
Wait, it is...oops.
Ahem. Pretty disappointing for XM.
