Radio isn't happy about XM Public Radio's latest deal
Apparently terrestrial radio isn't so happy about American Public Media's deal with XM Satellite Radio.
While the cornerstone shows "A Prairie Home Companion" and "Marketplace" are still going to be syndicated to terrestrial stations, the perceived problem is that they'll no longer be exclusive to terrestrial. Maybe someone should have told them that Prairie Home and Marketplace were available on Sirius' NPR Now (ch 134) for a while now.
But just to add some salt on the wound, Prairie Home Companion will actually air live on XM before some terrestrial stations get the West Coast feed. Now that's gotta hurt.

I work at community college with an NPR station that airs PHC... let's just say they weren't too happy to hear about this.

im sick of FM radio crying about everything.....ITS their fault they play the same shit over and over and over and no one listens, its their fault they kill their on air personalities and make them sound corny, its their fault they are losing listeners, NOT XM NOT SIRIUS!!!!....its free F'N radio....we pay for good content, thats why we get what we get...it is fair!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just amazes me how 'non threatening' satellite radio continues to be to terrestrial, yet we still hear about things like this and the government bill concerning the local traffic & weather.

Seems to be a problem with XM of late no matter what they do.

XM and Sirius have commericals, i might as well just listen to FM. There is really not too much of a benefit.

Ryan, you may want to check your email on the topic of Prairie Home Companion (and maybe Marketplace) not being on SIRIUS Radio anymore.
