Led Zeppelin is returning to the satellite radio airwaves, this time on both Sirius and XM Radio, starting on November 1st.A dedicated Led Zeppelin channel first debuted on XM nearly a year ago in the form of "XM Led" only to be taken off the air in March 2008. XM made no secret that the all-Zeppelin-all-the-time channel was only on a temporary hiatus and would return later this year.
Well, now it's back, and with a whole lotta love for Sirius XM Radio Inc.
Led Zeppelin Radio will be broadcast on Sirius channel 12 and XM channel 39, and is launching this Saturday, November 1st starting at 6pm ET through the end of this year.
You know the drill by now, Led Zeppelin Radio will be a non-stop broadcast of virtually every song from Led Zeppelin's music catalog. Archived interviews with Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Paul Jones and John Bonham and unique content will be sprinkled throughout.
And, as is the case with most of these artist-only channels, the launch of Led Zeppelin Radio coincides with the release of a new Boxed Set of Mini-LP Replica CDs. The limited-edition boxed set will be available in-stores on November 11th.

enough of the single artist channels already
That's awesome! I'm digging AC/DC radio right now. It's not like I flip it on an leave it on it's just another option that you know you can't go wrong with - there will aways be something good on.
I vote for an all Van Halen-David Lee-Roth-Sammy Hagar channel next! All in favor!
Here we go again. Another wasted space for a single artist. WTF!!!!!!!!! Enough already!!!!!!!!!
While I agree with that if any band deserves it, it's Led Zeppelin.
I'm hoping they bring back the Abba channel .
I have no problem with the single artist channels as long as they don't preempt the fucking Punk channel!!!
awww geeze not this shit again
So what channel gets canned to make room for the bandwidth?
I can't wait for this channel! Love the AC DC channel, love Zep - I've been waiting for an all-Zep channel for a long time.
What punk channel? I don't see any punk channel anywhere?
Great! There goes The Bridge again!! Fuck This Shit!!
Come on...We all know the punk channels aren't coming back yet; Siri/XM has to preempt them next with the Guns N' Roses channel in "celebration" of the no-longer-awaited Chinese Democracy.
Actually, I don't mind seeing the Zep channel come back...Wonder if Sirius-XM could get hold of a copy of the recent reunion concert for our listening enjoyment. :)
for all you.. "enogh wasted band width" schmucks...
Look up the all time best selling atrists/ albums/ and time on the charts. Any artist on these lists deserves their own channel on a rotating basis (for a month or so)
FYI.. although I like the channel.. AC DC is not on the list
Rolling stones and Zepplin are along with MJ's thriller album. G&R's appetite, The Who did not make the list. Sinatra did. Bruce Springsteen is not on this list.
Bottom line, some artisits I like some I do not but Sat rad was always supposed to be about choices for everyone. Not just your own personal taste.
I've already got this, on my iPod. Glad I left when I did. Enjoy Payola Satellite radio, folks!
It would nice to get The Move back sometime! But no, lets do XM Led, that's great. Thanks a lot Mely!
Wow, maybe when they merge we can get 50 single-artist channels. That would be AMAZING! Talk about shrinking a playlist...if we got a single-artist channel for EVERY channel, Sirius/XM can't be accused of sounding like FM.
This is terrible. I'm guessing this means the bridge didn't make the cut. Fuck them.
I have no problem with the single artist channels as long as they don't preempt the fucking Punk channel!!!
What punk channel?
At least the Bridge will return (according to Zeller). But still, can't they find another channel (maybe E-Street radio?) to pre-empt for a bit? And why must these payola channels be broadcast to both platforms?
WTF is that going down Bohnam's leg?
It is amazing how many people don't like the single artist channel. Get over it.
It is one of the things that sets Sat. Rad. apart. isn't that the whole reason that we got it to begin with, cause it offers things reg. radio can't?
The single artist channels are one of those things. Not only that, but its not permanent. The ones that are on XM never have been.
It's two not even 2 months. Don't listen. We have a lot of choices. Just change the channel.
Drumstick?
Dedicating channels to groups who are releasing new material are obviously significant cash cows to Sirius XM. Anyone whom thinks these channels are anything more than paid promotion are kidding themselves. This is what these channels are about and nothing more. Drink the Kool-Aid and like it! They will be in your future as long as you have satrad and they are still on the air as a service.
Don, I don't think it's the artist specific channels that annoy people, it's that cuts need to be made to accomodate those channels. The punk channels are gone, UPop was turned off, what's next?
If you're such a big fan of one artist, you have an iPod full of their music, you have their CD's, this channel isn't something you need because you already have access to large volumes of their music.
The bridge is gone
now am gone along with my xm
mel sucks donkey balls
I like Kool-Aid - grape is my favorite flavor... Actually these days I tend to go for Crystal Light.
I can see the why some folks frustration level is up over this espeically if they just lost their favorite channel. I think Sirius/XM should just have one channel that rotates a single band on a month or two basis that way (hopefully) a good/popular channel doesn't get wacked.
This concept seems illogical to me -- anyone who's that big a fan of a group/artist will have their music on CDs, iPod, etc. But I could see having one channel with a rotating schedule of single-artists -- if it did not preempt any real channels.
This is the ideal solution and it would save getting burnt out on an artist from over-exposure but it probably has been put to them many times and nobody at the top listens, Besides, wouldn't we start fighting over one group getting on before another?
I don't mind the single artist channels but I hate that it takes the Bridge off again. That's one of my favorite channels.
You think this is a programming choice, thats your first mistake.
This isn't a programming decision, its a money decision.
I love Led Zeppelin. But since I have all their albums on CD, I don't need a satellite radio to listen to them. Clearly, the radio industry is proof that evolution doesn't work since only the stupid rise to the top.
Yes, if you are a big fan of an artist you probably do have all of their stuff on CD/Ipod. In the case of AC/DC until last week I had one AC/DC CD - Back in Black. The AC/DC channel has opened me up to a whole bunch of new (to me) music. Yeah AC/DC has been around for a while but FM radio only plays a handful of their songs. Same for Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Van Halen, etc etc. The single artist gimmick allows the "programmers" to go deeper into their respective catalogs.
BMan, good point. If only they had a station dedicated to digging deeper into classic rock catalogs. Maybe they could call it Digging Deeper Into Classic Rock Catalogs Radio and replace whatever is on XM 40.
Again the bridge listeners get screwed. Let’s think about this for a second, who is the Bridge listener? We are one of satellite radios largest segment of subscribers. We outspend all the other subscribers combined. The advertisers market to our demographic because we buy their products. The program manager responsible for choosing the Bridge as the favorite victim for single artist programming is a moron. We have to get the attention of someone with a brain at Sirius. Howard is our man. Aside from being part of our demographic he’s a smart business person who works hard for his customers. When he sees his customers affected by the acts of some 20 something moron program manager, he’ll send Artie down the hall to sit his head.
Send as many emails to the advertisers as you can. Ask them to help “RESTORE THE BRIDGE”.
Thank you in advance Howard
I am in total agreement with the above statement. The Moron program manager who made this decision should be terminated from Sirius. I have been a loyal subscriber to Sirius since 2004, I am now reconsidering my subscriber ship because of these type of decisions. Management of Sirius including Mel K seem to have their head squaring up their ass and are enjoying the view. There are 50 other channels that should be replaced instead the bridge. Fuck you Mel fuck you
Why not make an entire channel to songs that only have Cowbell in them! Now that sounds like entertaining radio!
Hook it up SiriusXMFM Radio!
Enough with the promotional channels for one artist. Does the AC/DC channel really need to be on three months? I don't care who the artist/band is. It is paid adverstising from a record company to support product to be released. If that is where the creativity of satellite radio has gone, maybe it deserves to go under and when it does it can take the Elvis Channel, the Greatful Dead Channel, the Jimmy Buffet Channel, the Bruce Springsteen Channel, the AC/DC channel, the Led Zep Channel, the Kenny Chesney Channel, and all the other channels like it down with it.
A BOO!
Bridge fans, take it from me, letters and complaints are not enough. I tried that when it went off the air for The Who, and again when it was replaced by E-Street, and I couldn't find anyone who seemed to give a fraction of a damn.
The Bridge is the primary channel I listen to, and the only thing that justifies the monthly cost of the satellite radio for me. Without that channel, the Sirius radio tends to sit unused in my glove box. So finally I called to cancel my subscription until such time as they brought The Bridge back. No point paying for a service I'm not using.
Well, that seemed to get their attention. They know once a customer cancels, there's a real possibility they will never sign back up again. Instead they offered me two months free to keep my account. Since two monthly payments amount to more than the cost of canceling and reconnecting later, I took them up on it. And happily, a month later The Bridge was back on the air, so my radio was back in the dock, and all was good... until this week when it all started up again.
So I called again, told them I wanted to cancel again, and they offered me two free months again. In two months' time, if The Bridge is still off the air (as I suspect it will be) I will call to cancel again. Maybe they'll extend their offer, maybe they won't, but either way I won't pay another dime while The Bridge is gone.
If you still feel you're getting your money's worth from the service, I don't recommend you try this, but if you're in the same boat as me, then please follow my lead. This is the only way to get them to pay attention to us, and maybe get them to screw over listeners of some other channel the next time they have a payola deal to make.
