Report: Merger could receive approval tonight

I hope this is true. Enough is enough already. Approve the thing already and let these companies start moving towards being profitable so they don't both wind up in the tank.

And hopefully the new CEO Mel K will get rid of that radio show and their loser fans. We don't want that kind of trash that thinks its funny to beat and rape members of the White House.

I'm a huge Stern and Sirius fan and get sick of O&A fans but I think it be great to have their show on Sirius and visa versa. I look forward to the competition!!

2) Why would the FCC & DoJ give approval at the same time? There's absolutely no reason they need to, so why? Have they ever in the past announced approval at the same time?

Mel will remove all of the shows I like, add DJs on all music channells, start running a lor more commercials and nickle and dime us all.

Trust me, it is not like Mel is in this for the artists or the listeners. He is a money whore, and will do anything he can to make more.

I'll just be happy when the funeral is over. I took delivery of a new Toyota week before last without pre-installed satellite radio. If/when merger is approved, I'll just pull my old Roady2 out and toss it At least I'll have a good place to plug my iPod in.

Fact.. Cingular was a joint venture betweeen Bell South and AT&T anyway.

so... and to this date not one person has mentioned anyhting aout Exclusivity of any content. All content on XM and Sirius is limited to only one or the other sat caster... its not restricted from an internet broadcast... thats right.. Expensive NFL,NBA, MLB, STERN, NHL all can be broadcast on terestrial and internet. Just not via the "other" satellite radio company....

I spent a lot of time considering what I thought of the merger happening or not. I came to the conclusion that it only benefits those with stock, NOT the consumer. An interoperable receiver, as required per the original license for both services - would benefit the consumer / public / me / you.

I have stock in XM and I'm more than happy to make money BUT if it happens we all know that both services with turn into the other and all the things any of us hate about one or the other will be in our faces big time.

With that said - why the hell hasn't some company like Apple or Time Warner swallowed one of the two? It is nice to have two options to choose from, much like Direct TV and Dish Network. That merger never happened - because the super satellite company could have been a monopoly provider. Key word - provider. If that's all available for SatTV, then it isn't fair or good for anyone but stockholders. Same goes for SatRadio.

i don't understand why the O&A fans disprove of the merger. Why wouldn't a subscriber want more programing choices? i'm assuming that O&A are against the merger because they are afraid that they will lose fans to the King of all Media, Howard Stern. Stern's Sirius show is on fire, and way better than anything i've ever heard on radio. opie and anthony can be entertaining, but they still broadcast most of their show on testicle radio and can't hold a candle to Stern. That being said, I'm still interested in listening to O&A/Ron&Fez show replays from time to time. I'm a talk radio fan, and i think it's idiotic to deprive myself of the opportunity to enjoy a show because they are in a one sided war with my favorite broadcaster. That's another thing I think O&A fans don't get, Howard could care less about O&A. BTW "therealdeal" should stop embarrassing himself.
