StilettoThis page on TSS-Radio has indicated that SIRIUS has asked their Authorized Retailers to suspend pre-order of the anticipated SIRIUS Stiletto. Further investigation shows that Crutchfield has also pulled down their Stiletto pre-order page (after going online only a week ago) after being asked to remove it by SIRIUS, Orbitcast has learned.

Initial source checks indicate that this is not a supply issue, though the exact reason as to why SIRIUS Authorized Retailers are being asked to do this is unknown at this time. If I had to take a guess? I'd say a certain four letter organization comes to mind, but there's a dozen or so other possibilities as well.

As more details come in, I'll be sure to make them known.

Interesting

It is a little fast for the RIAA, I'm guessing FCC.

Still the same timeframe, I'm told, but yes this is very unexpected on Sirius's part. I would've expected more info from Crutchfield because they're supposed to be told why. I'll find the number of the guy who I knew worked at Sirius (lost contact over a month ago) and see if he knows anything about it.

Sirius did the same thing with the sportster4! They talk big about a release, and then are weeks if not months late in delivering. I wish they would kind of keep stuff hushed like XM does instead of feeding us all BS...We'll be lucky to see it by christmas!

This is why both companies need to work together. One should not just sit back and watch the other fight. If a judgement comes down from the courts it will effect both companies not just one.

'Sploding batteries? :)

Not the FCC as the Stiletto didn't have an onboard fm transmitter. was in the dock. Not the RIAA as the lawsuit with XM is still months if not years from settlement and the INNO is still being peddled. My guess is this is a merger or aquisition of some sort, and we will know within a week or so wtf. Mel has been to quiet, something is fixing to go down.

I was wondering where the RIAA was...if they are trying to stop the distribution of this unit pending it's suit with XM, or perhaps one it is filing against Sirius. this is bad for sat radio as a whole. While I am an XM guy, and LOVE my Helix, I'm looking forward to this new device. Raising the bar helps both services.

FUCK THE RIAA!!

This is bad. We're all going to die. Stern will leave. Mel is retiring. The stock goes to .17.

whaaaa...

Ryan, I say it's the 3 letter men.

FCC

Sirius_winner, if you do not know what is going on why would you be sure that the answer will come in a week? A number of things could have caused this delay and many of those could take awhile to resolve.

You people just want a merger because Sirius pr..... never mind. Enough already.

Hmmm could a deal with Apple be brewing? There is a media event on Tuesday. I wish Sirius would partner with Apple!

Just another reason why the O and A army wins again, get used to it suckers. O and A always win in the end.

First of all Sirius was VERY hush hush about the Stiletto. So much so they even showed off a fake unit at times to confuse everyone. It took forever for anyone to find a picture of it, and even then no one knew if it was real or not. There was a whole lot of speculation surrounding the product, and still is.

Second, Sirius hasn't even announced the product yet! There have been no press releases about it, nor has anyone from the company refered to it by name in a press release yet. All these online companies were allowed to do pre-orders because just like they always have, got the pictures and info long before the product came out. If Sirius suspended the pre-orders who cares? As long as it comes out I am happy. Maybe they suspended it because they want to officially annoince it first, or maybe the FCC is involved, who knows, as long as it comes out. They say late Sept. early Oct., I believe what thye say.

Stern: O&A say I invented everything, I didn't event everything, I just invented their act.

CRUTCHFIELD DID THE SAME THING BEFORE GUYS
We went thru the same STUFF when the Sportster 4 was fixing to be released.
Crutchfield again jumped the gun and had to pull the unit from its
website and as you can see they were being sold a very short time later.

WE FIRST SAW THE SPORTSTER 4:
Sportster 4 released http://tinyurl.com/p4l6q 4/25/2006
ONE DAY LATER IT WAS PULLED:
Sportster 4 DISAPPEARS From Crutchfield http://tinyurl.com/mmdvq 4/26/2006
A WEEK LATER THE FCC GRANTED AUTHORIZATION:

THE REST IS HISTORY

Hehe, this will do wonders for Sirius stock. I had my suspicions that Sirius wouldnt be able to produce a true live portable that could compete with the Inno/Helix by XMas.

Why does Sirius have so many problems with their recievers? ReGo, S50, FCC issues, now the Sileto is being pushed back. Tisk, tisk, Karmazin...

Westfall

So, Frank Zappa, are you saying that next week we should expect the Stiletto be approved by the FCC?

I'm not sure pre-sale wasn't halted because 15,000 of these units were to be sent ( First and foremeost ) to Oprah to be passed out FREE on her show.

I spoke directly with a Sirius radio technician today. (1-888-sirius1 prompt #3) It was told to me that there is no problems or hold ups by our old friends over at the RIAA or the FCC. Sirius only has a limited supply of the Stiletto 100 for preorders. Due to the overwhelming amount of preorders, Sirius has decided to hold off advanced selling until more stock is sent by the manufacturer. Existing preorders by TSS-Radio and Crutchfield are still scheduled to ship late Sept. early Oct.

ABT Electronics has it on their website for pre-orders.
