Ron and Fez Close to Satellite/Terrestrial Radio Deal
Ron and Fez, XM Satellite Radio's mid-day buddies on The Virus (ch 202) are reportedly making the jump to terrestrial radio - though not exclusively.
FMQB has learned that the deal (reportedly in it's final stages) would put Ron and Fez in the 6pm-9pm ET slot on WFNY. Additionally this will be a completely new show, meaning it's not a rebroadcasted version of the earlier XM show.
Back in May, rumors of this deal were abuzz in the board-gossip circles thanks to the sleuthy work of Alan Sniffen. Razzle dazzle!

I hope XM gets both shows on BIG ASS 203!

It was also part of a NY Daily News article about Nick DiPaolo's new radio show on WFNY.

Six hours of R&F down, eighteen to go!!!
Ryan, I must have reloaded your site a million times today looking for the details after I read a blurb at DCRTV. Thanks for the scoop...

I hope this doesn't ruin their show like it did to O&A. I haven't been able to stand the watered down crap, and the ever increasing amounts of commercials. I keep my XM only for R&F. Sirius has my attention when it comes to music.

So much for XM's exclusive content.
Hey buddy.... do you got a dime ?

It's another completely new show. It's not a rebroadcast. If anything, the XM show's gonna get the most, while the FM show will be a coast-fest.

XM owns R&F so any deal that they do will be done through XM. This show will more than likely be aired on XM also and XM will get the uncensored feed as well and things will get dumped for FM. Anyone who says that O&A's show has declined since the FM deal is f*cking insane.

It does seem to be a fashionable meme that O&A have gone downhill since the FM deal, but I don't see the evidence either. It's true that anything after 10:30 is likely to be whining about how it's not 11 yet, but the previous four and a half hours are comparable to what you'd expect from them.
Sometimes I think I can detect a "running on fumes" vibe that might stem from getting up earlier, increased publicity obligations, etc. but I don't think the FM simulcast per se is harming the show. I think being the biggest deal in radio is harming the show.

That's a ton of radio to do every day, not to mention the miserable hours it leaves for the rest of their life. Working through lunch and dinner will suck.

why would you want XM anymore? They simulcast for FREE.
Once again, XM loses.

Gosh I hope Fez gets more money out of this. This way, he will stop eating TV dinners.

Dodger... Your kidding me right? You did read the article and see that their is supposedly going to be 2 separate shows right? Both shows would more than likely be on XM but the 12-3 show would be solely on XM and the later show would be on both. How does XM lose for having free advertising on FM???
Read carefully before you type.
