The rumored Sirius XM BlackBerry App was supposed to have been released by end of January, but here we are in February with no app in sight. What gives?
According to Orbitcast sources, in addition to a comment posted here, the BlackBerry App is in the final phases of being released and is planned to be made public by the end of this week. The comment specifically mentions February 4th, but other sources have said that date may get shifted slightly.
As we've seen in the past, Mel likes to have product/feature releases just before earnings calls. So the early-February date makes sense, especially since Sirius XM Radio Inc. has said that they will release their full-year 2009 financial results "in February 2010." The timing would be perfect if launched in the first week of this month.
Sources have said that this app is pretty much the same as the iPhone App. I wouldn't expect that Howard Stern would be included in this app (which, supposedly, is not a limitation imposed by Sirius XM but rather from Howard's side).
Either way, all we can do at this point is wait.

Can I please have it by Wednesday, Either that or an OTA download. I am going out of town and would really like to take advantage of it.
Man I hope it is soon. Everybody I know prefers Verizon to AT&T and thats why I won't get the iPhone. Waiting for Blackberry!
Thanks for keeping us updated Ryan!
I would think that it would be released to AppWorld.
And still nothing for Android users...
I wish that they'd release this for all Window Mobile/WiFi capable phones. I have a Samsung Omnia, which I would have to guess will never see this app offered. Is there a reason why they are only making the app for specific phones? I understand the iPhone being used as the spring board, huge seller and a good starting point. If they create the app for a phone that uses Windows Mobile, is there a lot more programing involved to get this to work with different phone brands? I'd be really interested in knowing the details if someone could explain them.
Here's hoping you can download outside of the App World. Corporate firewalls!
I was able to download Slacker for bberry right from their site.
ed baxter, there is a sirius app out there. if you look for a site that most geeks go to, then you should have no problem finding the sirius app.
Dont look for any customer service from sirius. dont buy !!!!!!!! dont buy it!!!. Call the customer service find out yourself before buying . The great concept but the worst service ever. go ahead try calling for any live person.
(OFFICIAL NEWS) On February 4th, SIRIUS XM will begin offering our online listening service as an application on the BlackBerry.
riskybzns - You Rule!! Thank bud. Found it.
Can. Not. Wait. Any. Longer.
With Pandora, Slacker and XM on my Blackberry (and with my company paying the data charges), I will never listen to radio in any other way.
