XM SkyDock iPhone AppHot on the news that the XM SkyDock will be available for shipment soon comes word that the accompaning XM SkyDock iPhone App (screenshot pictured above) is scheduled to be released early next week, according to a source familiar with the matter.
The XM SkyDock iPhone App will be released on October 11th, timed just ahead of when the the XM SkyDock iPhone/iPod Touch device will begin to hit the shelves, this person said.

The free XM SkyDock App can be downloaded to the iPod Touch or iPhone - which then allows the device to be docked and instantly provides access to XM programming for subscribers. Just as with any XM subscription, you can add the "Best of Sirius" package.

Reminder: This is a completely different app from the Sirius XM iPhone App.

On the XM SkyDock App, all song and channel info shows up on your iPhone's display. You can set alerts for favorite songs and artists, as well as for your favorite sports teams.

The XM SkyDock iPhone App also allows for iTunes Tagging.

If you hear a song you like, just tap the "Tag This" button. Then next to any of your tagged songs you'll see an "iTunes" button (once you have a 3G or WiFi connection) that links you to the iTunes store so you can buy it.

FREEDOM IS NOT FREE ITS 12:95 A MONTH JOIN THE REVOLUTION

@michael, anonymous and a lot of the other "glass half empty" individuals have been scorned. They are also "cheap asses" that never contribute to companies that actually create innovative solutions.

A$$holes like "anonymous" have overrun this site, and hopefully with more frequent posts, fans will make their way back to this great site. Obviously we are here for technology of satellite radio(and though not as much other creative radio offerings i.e. Slacker), and they are here to push some sort of agenda.

I don't personally own a iPhone or iPod Touch, but I have to admit, I think this is a brilliant move on XM's part. The bottom line is the iPod is the premier MP3 player on the market, and lets face it as nice as the XM combo devices have been they have NEVER done MP3's the right way. I'd hop on it in a second if I knew there was a home version coming that offered the same satellite based technology AND they offered the ability record via software similar to the inno or XMP3 directly to the iPod.

Even better, I'd like to see every bit of XM content Podcasted ONLY to XM subscribers (a subscription based podcast). Or shit, charge me 2 dollars a extra a month to get as many of the downloads that I want need monthly.

I think its only a matter of time. I've been quick to jump on these types of things in the past, but I'm going to wait until I see all things in place that are appealing to me.

@ Steve:

You can play any audio content from your Itouch or Iphone through the Skydock, including itunes.

@mike_nova this is a *great* idea and I'd love to see it myself. Even if it's just the News/Talk content - it would be great to have.

Any MEDIA company needs to have as much ACCESS as possible. Don't create roadblocks! Give your subscribers a way to access your content - ESPECIALLY if its premium and requires a subscription. The less hurdles your subscribers need to overcome, the more your business will grow. It's that simple.

App will be released this sunday the 11th
