Amidst all the hooplah surrounding the Samsung Helix, we come to find out that the Samsung NEXUS has undergone some changes as well. First and most importantly, they've changed the funky spelling from "neXus" to "NEXUS" - which is a fine decision in my humble opinion as my pinky fingers were having difficulty with the capitalization. They've also added on the XMP3 moniker, and a handy "25" or "50" to indicate storage time, to help peeps from getting confused about it's non-live on-the-go capibilities.
Second, she's gone and barfed up a few meals since we last met. The version I saw was a porky 1.9" wide and 0.7" deep - hardly something you'd take home to see mommy. But this new hotty is now 1.8" wide and a mere 0.6" deep, and weighs in at only 4.4 ounces. Hoowee!
But all rib jabbing aside, an important fact to note is that the new Samsung NEXUS comes pre-packaged with the show-stopping XM Passport mini tuner cartridge, which delivers XM programming to the Samsung NEXUS through the home docking station. The NEXUS comes with all the accessories needed for home and portable use.
So while it's not on-the-go live, it's a cheaper alternative (MSRPing at $199.99 for the 25 hour version, and $249.99 for the 50 hour version) and hey, you get a XM Passport thrown in for free!
