FCCThe Federal Communications Commission has removed the item involving Satellite Radio repeater towers from today's meeting Agenda.

In fact, it wasn't just removed. It was adopted.

The Open Meeting, schedule to take place at 10:30 am ET today (i.e., right now), was supposed to focus on Sirius and XM's terrestrial repeaters, and the rules governing them.

But according to an update issued this morning on the FCC's website, the item has been deleted from the Agenda, Further, the "Establishment of Rules and Policies for the Digital Audio Radio Satellite Service in the 2310-2360 MHz Frequency Band" has been adopted by the Commission.

That's an interesting last minute development.

What does the word "adopted" mean in this context? Is this good or bad for the repeater network?

What are the new rules Ryan?

I am also wondering if adopted means something good or bad for the repeater network....

Maybe it means the end of all these pests on here repeating the same old tired shit over and over again.

Hoo hoo, we get it, you think 0.0 are better.

XM doesn't need repeaters. If you want to listen to 0.0, fire up your iPod and grab them on podcast where they'll be after the merger goes through.

How exactly do we get to see the "adopted" rules? I looked all over the FCC site and couldnt find anything other than the same page that said that it was adopted...

To me, it sounds like the rules were implemented without discussion.

FWIW, the FCC dropped the issue from the Open meeting today because they "adopted" an NPRM on changing the rules governing the WCS liceneses in the S-Band... as well as an FNPRM, regarding the licensing of DARS repeaters in the S-Band.

This now starts a 30-day open comment window for the public to comment on the "rules" in the NPRM/FNPRM. After this time, the FCC will then review the comments and go from there. They may make changes, due to the comments and again issue another FNPRM to get more comments, or the FCC could then close the issue and finalize the rules with an FCC vote -- then issue the Report & Order.

Regarding dropping it from the meeting today? The issue of the repeaters and licensing in the S-Band dates all the way back to 1995 (and further). The public has had plenty of time to comment on this issue, through ExParte filings. They have the NPRM/NFPRM ready to go -- so it makes sense to just adopt it and allow the public to file comments that way. The meeting today was all about media cross-ownership and localism in the media -- this issue would have been lost in it. To me, it made sense to drop it.

I have been reading comments on several discussion boards at many sites. All of this speculation, pro's and cons re merger tells me that my fellow investors, including myself need to get a life. Unless you are a day trader, when you make a decision to invest, you'd better dig your heels in and wait. Keep your theories to yourself and don't respond to the troll(s) spreading their ignorance. I feel sorry for all of my fellow investors that lost money the other day when all of those stops were triggered. The stock is trading lower because many speculators have pulled their money out to invest at a later time.
