The first-ever official screenshot of the upcoming Sirius XM iPhone app was revealed today during Sirius XM Radio Inc. CEO Mel Karmazin's PowerPoint presentation at the shareholder summit.
View the presentation here.
The buttons on the bottom reveal that the Sirius XM iPhone app will have the ability to sort by category, channel, favorites - and there's a "Shopping" feature as well. There's also arrows next to each channel indicating more information is viewable per channel (hopefully it's something more akin to an electronic channel guide).
Little else is publicly known, aside from what we've already found out. But at least we get to finally see something official.

A screenshot means nothing when your estimating profits. There were NO numbers on the iPhone, none! How can you estimate profit without numbers? The release of the iPhone could take away existing subs, because the iPhone could be a replacement for the multiple subs - consumers currently purchase. On the other hand, I have an XMP3 player and an online account and my kids can't wait to have it on their phones. Which means... in our house, the subs will be going up.
I just don't get the lack of numbers on a day where they are estimating profits! It makes the whole presentation pointless.
Get with it MEL, at least you could have posted public numbers on current apple phones in the US, abd gave a real low ball estimate. It would have caused thr media to say, " hey, I think the numbers will be much higher"
I believe apple may be telling them to not say anything - but geeeze, this is our future, the shareholders future at hand. I think we deserve a bit more at a shareholders meeting then a screenshot! We better be the center on attention on day one at the WWDC, or I'm calling foul.

Assuming "Favorites" looks like "Channels" I can build a list of my favorite channels and see what's playing on all of them at the same time - nice! And since Mel said Q2 in a presentation earlier this year, you have to assume it is less than a month away! Come-on guys let's have it already!
Sweet. Can't wait for this.
Meh I use Shoutcast for free ! I'm sure they are gonna charge for the app and they aalready do to listen online anyway. The only thing on Sirius Fm worth anything is Stern and as i said you can get it free on Shoutcast and if i have and iphone why would i want to listen to sirius music channels when i have Slacker and Pandora app's. SatRad's for dumb asses that don't know any better.
They cut the part that says screw over third party iPhone developers and threaten to sue them if they don't cease and desist.
WOOT! Finally it's almost here. Hope it was worth the wait(and cost and loss of impact etc..)
The app looks like garbage. Lots of wasted space.
No info, no ETA. Obviously photoshopped. Why is the mockup truncated?
The StarPlayer the guys at NiceMac was so much better than this piece if crap excuse for an iPhone application and it was already done (could have been there for months now).
Just release the f'ing thing already, god sirius is slower than crap. Get on the ball Mel. They make it like its impossible, yet 3 little devs constructed one months ago that was flawless....
Looks pretty underwhelming to me. Where is the innovation?
shockingly, Howie is front and center
It looks good so far!
Lets have it already, too much foreplay!
I am thinking of buying an Iphone 3G. I hope this App. is worth it.
i want to go on record as saying
i highly doubt that this will ever get released, and if it does, it will be crippled as all hell.
Expect att to limit this to wifi only, especially now that you have to pay to access the "high quality streaming".
I wonder if they are kicking themselves about allowing pandora and slacker onto the iphone.
I also wonder if the 3.0 firmware is going to change a lot of things. Quite possibly the introduction of tiered web access, or the ability to pay to stream media over your iphone (at a cost).
the writing is on the wall folks. net neutrality is going to be a thing of the past, at least on closed systems like the iphone.
I heard a 99.00 price tag for the I-phone today on CNBC!
On the page for the apple iphone and ipod touch, it also says smartphone. I wonder if they are releasing apps for other phones as well.
I found it quite interesting that they sold more "best of" Sirius than Xm. I have seen many posts on this website claiming that would never happen. You were wrong.
How ridiculous is the social media page, like that is going to drive subscriber numbers.
On the "complete diverse programming" page, Why is the mad dog radio banner with the live sports? I realize that he talks about and covers sports, but the rest of the banners are for the actual sport, not shows covering sports, mad dog should be in the news, talk and entertainment section.
You will notice under corporate priorities, page #4, it says "rapidly build subscriber base' 2003-2007". I wonder what they did during those years to rapidly gain subscribers? Maybe it has something to do with more "best of" sirius being sold. Any ideas?
I did not mean to reply to anyones previous comment. I apologize for that. I seem to be having problems lately, like this and sometimes my comments are posted twice, who knows, Fuck it.
talk about the new royalty rate that SiriusXm is passing on to it's subscriber's to the tune of another $2. Gotta love that. So $2 for the app $2.99 to listen online and $2 for the music royalty fee.
Why is everyone such a dick about everything? They've been saying all along that they'd like to have a June release. Is it June yet morons? No it isn't. If June comes and goes and it's still not out, then you can bitch and moan. Not that anyone needs a reason anymore.
The app looks fine, what do you want, XBox 360 graphics?
And please all you mouth breathers what keep saying, "I already have Pandora, why would I get this?" Just please go off and live in the mountains somewhere, so we don't have to listen to you inane comments any longer.
No one who loves SatRad has music as their first priority. It for the premium and original content. If that content doesn't do anything for you, then you shoudn't be a subscriber. Idiots!
Interesting that there is a 'pause' button. I wonder how long you can pause?
Great to see you can see what is on other channels before switching.
Can't wait!
Apple's WWDC is Monday, June 8th. Just a guess: they will unveil iPhone/iPod OS 3.0, which the new SIRIUS XM is built upon. SIRIUS XM will release their app within a week of WWDC.
Just a guess...
Why no release for other smart phones?
Android
Win Mobile
Symbian
There is not such a controlled market for these OS'. Just dev the app and make it available
I'm amazed at people that come here over and over again to comment about satellite radio when they are clearly not and will never be subscribers. They just come here to bad mouth a service. I'm not a cable TV subscriber. I would feel creepy trolling a Comcast forum and putting in my 0 cents.
Seriously, explain why you have that much time?
If look at the page with the I-phone screen shot it says "smartphones"
My guess they will be releasing apps for multiply phones!
Hey Jason, Go Fuck Yourself.
I am sure glad their favorites are not "Stars."
Stars are awesome.
Really Jason? You are the dick here. God I wish I would have swallowed the night you were conceived. You are an embarrassment to yourself, the family, and this board. Please do everyone a favor and go f u c k yourself.
Thanks,
Mom
what the hell does WOOT mean?
here is the link to xmfan where an employee of xm leaked the news of the rate hike coming soon http://www.xmfan.com/viewtopic.php?t=103093
That's because I invented the IPhone App, and now you know why I don't put anytime into my show, it took alot of work.
I would like to thank Mel for allowing me to suck up to him for inspiration, and Robin, Artie for carrying my excuse for a paycheck... I meant carrying my show. I was in my batcave creating this technology for the world!!! Tell em' Fred!!!!
Here's the problem with the iPhone APP....
There is so much talking on the music channels either from
the DJ or College Interns putting on a morning show that by
the time you actually hear a song......dead battery.
"No one who loves SatRad has music as their first priority."
What? Music is what SatRad was founded on. That should be their HIGHEST priority.
Business models do change you know. SatRad may have been founded on music but it's certainly not what's going to be keep the company in business or draw more customers.
With Pandora and programs like it, Sirius' best weapon for subscriber growth is it's original content. Why would anyone pay a monthly subscripton with today's technology if music was the only thing you really cared about.
And the rest of you who pay for a service you obviously hate, I don't know if your stupid or just insane. Probably a little of both. Why do you even post on this site? The biggest f-you that you can do to Sirius is end your subscription, but instead you just throw-up noise on blogs all day long and bitch about Mel. Please, please, please, all of you form some kind of anti-SiriusXM cult and make sure the Kool-Aid is the first item on the agenda.
Seriously man the haters on this board and me, we're fucking done professionally.
...............Fuck'in ass.
Taken from TUAW: "The app, which is expected to be free, will require a US$3.00/month streaming subscription for current subscribers, and a US$13.00 monthly fee for non-subscribers. No specific release date is known, but it is thought to be very soon."

Another fee from Mel. Go Screw.
It looks like Slacker and Pandora's UI's are on Par to what StarPlayr had to offer. But judging by this screenshot it looks like SiriusXM's iPhone App is way behind both Slacker and Pandora. This is too bad for Sirius and good for free internet radio.
Seriously, SiriusXM should have went with StarPlayr. Look at their screenshot compared to the Slacker/Pandora post. It's literally night and day.

wow....pic clearly shows Howard 100 on the iPod app interface.........R.I.P. Sirius way to piss off your customers!!!!
wow.....pic clearly shows Howard 100 in the app interface Mel is a scam artist R.I.P. Sirius
