XM's award-winning music show, "Theme Time Radio Hour," hosted by Bob Dylan is kicking off its 3rd season on Wednesday. The premiere of "Theme Time Radio Hour" coincides with the launch of, Tell Tale Signs - the 8th installment in the best-selling and critically heralded Bootleg Series which launched 1991.Bob Dylan's weekly radio program - which was described as "revelatory" by Rolling Stone magazine - will air on XM's Deep Tracks (ch 40) on Wednesdays at 10am ET, The Village (ch 15) at 12pm ET and all day every Wednesday on XMX (ch 2).
Each episode features an eclectic mix of songs, from a wide variety of musical genres, related to that week's theme with Dylan's on-air thoughts and commentary interspersed with phone calls, email readings, contributions from special guests and an array of classic radio IDs, jingles and promos from the past. Themes on season three of "Theme Time Radio Hour" will include "Money," "War," "Presidents," "Cats" and "Famous People."
Terry Teachout in The Wall Street Journal said this of Bob Dylan's show:
"To listen to 'Theme Time Radio Hour' is to rediscover the sense of musical adventure that old-fashioned disc jockeys with strongly individual personalities offered in the days before big-money stations pinned their fiscal hopes to the rigid Top 40-style playlists that took the fun out of radio."
Couldn't have said it better myself, and the new season of (in my opinion) one of the best shows on radio, will be most appreciated.

Seriously, does anyone listen to this mushmouthed hippie and his uninspired "dreams, themes, and schemes"?
We got this and an all AC/DC channel but they cancel Fungus... nice!
You KNOW that this show is a MUST-Listen: BBC's Radio 2 also broadcasts it domestically in the UK. It is an excellent show!
Actually, a lot of people listen. Including a big Fungus fan right here. Theme Time Radio is great. I'm excited for season 3.

while i agree taking away fungus for an AC/DC channel was a stupid, horrible idea, you are reaching by trying to compare theme time radio to that as it is just an hour. If they took away a channel, and made a Bob Dylan theme time channel, rather than just an hour, I might agree with your statement.
BTW, i don't listen to theme time radio.
Still wounder why XMX isnt part of Best of XM.
Love Dylans show.
Hope Sirius isn't bankrupt before it airs.
I am guessing it is not part of Best of XM because XMX stands for XM eXclusives. If it were on Sirius, it would no longer be exclusive. I know they are the same company now, by they are still pushing the services as if they are separate.
@what-huh?
You are missing the point, if XM is going to try to be deeply diverse with features such as TRH then why get rid of Fungus? Now I have to hope shitty Lucy plays a few Social D songs (and if they do it's usually only Born to Lose or Ring of Fire).
@Anonymous
There seems to be some misguided anger regarding the loss of fungus toward theme time radio. I agree there is nothing less diverse as a single artist channel.
a one hour show is a lot different than an entire channel dedicated to one band-regardless if the shows purpose is to be "deeply diverse". I would be confident in saying that $$>diversity as far as the AC/DC-Fungus issue is concerned, because I don't see how replacing a genre of music with a single artist channel for an aging band will bring in the subscribers.
If you want to start slicing away at all of the exclusive programming because it ads some sort of diversity, just because a chunk of diversity was lost when fungus was removed, then go right ahead.
IMO this show is excellent.
....and yes, XMX should have been part of the 'best of' package.
Lately I have felt bad for Sirius subs because it seems like you guys are getting hosed by the company that bought out XM. Is any body really thinking of leaving Sirius and going to XM because of the pricing and programming schemes that the company has produced over the last couple of weeks? It is just me or does it seem that XM subs are getting the better part of this deal so far?
I really like the Bob Dylan shows!Did anyone listen to the show where... ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzz......
Ryan, you did a great job when the merger was going on, but some of the stuff being reported now really doesn't matter if this company goes away. How about some real journalism and find out whats going on with this company. I do not mean any disrespect towards you but i know theres alot of people out there who need to know whats going on. See if you can't dig a bit deeper and find out whats happening. Theres alot of people out there that think this co was done an injustice with the FCC. This is a great business i know theres alot of us who do not want it to go away. I would trash my FM receiver before going back. Again Ryan no disrespect at all, just answers, Thank You you've done a great job, Charles M Scott, mikemscott@hotmail.com
All I can say is that with XMX gone, I can no longer listen to the three shows I used to listen to during my commute -- Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, and Marty Stuart. They are on at other times, but I can't listen at those other times. XM does not respond to my e-mails so I am at a loss to understand why they have done this.
