Sirius Canada has exceeded 750,000 paying subscribers, adding more than 250,000 subscribers in the 8 months since October 2007, according to an announcement made this morning.
The last 8 months were the company's strongest period of subscriber growth since inception and Sirius expects the growth to continue through the Father's Day sales period and beyond.
"Sirius has experienced a surge of growth in the past 8 months from both the automotive and retail channel and its subscriber base is now in excess of 750,000 paying customers," said Mark Redmond, President and CEO, Sirius Canada Inc. "The last 8 months were the strongest period of subscriber growth since launch and our success to-date has surpassed the expectations of the company's management and shareholders.
"We'd like to thank Sirius' employees, subscribers as well as our automotive and retail partners for helping achieve this important milestone."
Sirius Canada also said it will increase their programming line-up to 120 full time channels later this month.

OUTSTANDING!
Mark Redmond, President and CEO, Sirius Canada Inc,
Good work, now remember don't get greedy and arrogant like Melvin Alan "Mel" Karmazin, no delusions of grandeur with dreams of "merge" MONOPOLY and flush all that hard work down the toilet. Sure hope Mel's actions don't also destroy satradio north of the boarder too.
I wonder how XM Canada is doing, comparatively?
Hey FCC Keep fucking off and you'll end up with only one anyhow.
In the last four quarters Siri has lost 524 million and 1.45 Billion in the last nine quarters.
In the last four quarters XMSR has lost 757 million and 1.60 Billion in the last nine quarters.
Money means nothing to the Bush administration when they piss 3 billion a day away on a hyped war.
Yeah ... but they count parking lot subs. and... and.... and... .we beat them in net adds.
750,000 cool... how many new "subscribers" (parking lot subs or not) did they get in the last Quarter? this is actually a pathetic number for 8 months woth of adding subscribers. on top of what they had.
OK.. XM canada at the end of their last reported Quarter had just short of 400,000 .. its already been more than 3 months so there should be some anouncment soon there.
end of september last year they had 500,000 subs. that 31,250 Net per month or 100,000 per Quarter Aprox numbers
OK.. so if XM canada surpasses 500,000 then they are growing faster than Sirius canada.
Its still oooooo early in the OEM promo game that I would expect both XM and Sirius Canada to have simmilar growth rates. Especially since they count subscribers the same way up there.
If the FCC does allow Sirius and XM in the US. Will Canadian subscribers be included in the merger?
