There were signs that this would happen a few months back, but as many Sirius listeners know from the channel update a couple days ago - PRI (Public Radio International - ch 136) is no longer available on Sirius.
With no official announcement, the only "reason" we have to go by is what is stated on PRI's website:
Note: As of September 26, PRI programs will no longer be available on Sirius Satellite Radio. If you have questions and/or would like to provide feedback to Sirius, go to the contact page of the Sirius website.
I listened to PRI everyonce in a while, but judging from the numerous complaints in my inbox, there's a few more out there who are upset over this.

That sucks! I actually listened to PRI occasionally. I'll definitely send a complaint...
How expensive could PRI be? They barely have any listeners...

The same PRI that airs on XM?

Cant say ive ever tuned in.
Double Post! I hope typekey isn't screwed up again...
what is PRI?
PRI was one of my most listened to channels - this is too bad. My hope is that this is due to Sirius creating there own channel for this type of content, like XM did with Bob Edwards.
I chose sirius over XM because of their superior public radio programming. Now, with Sirius' deletion of PRI, I may switch back to XM. I can't fathom why on earth they would drop the PRI programming. Is this also part of the Howard Stern Effect? He didn't pull enough of his fans over, so Sirius has to cut other programming?

Great! I hope XM picks them up. Prairie Home Companion! (I'm an NPR geek.)
I hope that I don't turn out to be the only serious PRI fan out there. To me, this is infuriating. About 85 percent of my listening time was devoted to flipping among the three public radio channels. Now there are only two.
I would love to somehow get the message across to Sirius that they've succeeded in alientating many of their loyal customers. Anybody have any ideas?
Here's a list of just a few of the many worthwhile programs Sirius listeners won't get to hear anymore:
This American Life, Worldview, the Jim Lehrer NewsHour and the Brian Lehrer Show.
PRI has excellent radio programming from the best personality west of stern, Michael Feldman (what do you know), to this American Life, Ideas, etc.. stimulating sexy and sensical and a real compliment to my man howard, jay and boombox. As one of the first wave of boomers, I will strongly support outlets with my greenbacks that offer the type of quality programming that PRI offers, even if that means installing XM
I have decided to drop Sirius because they dropped PRI. I liked Le Show, This American Life, and Zorba Plaster. I still miss Air America, too.
I will switch to getting them by podcast. I am giving my Sirius radio away.
This is too bad, because Worldview on PRI was the best show ever.
