That's terrible. I'm sorry.

I guess david frear was blowing the preverbial smoke out of his ass last month.

Hopefully sirius can fix their problems as fast as xm did.

Sirius really needs to branch out their supplier roster.

They only have Directed Electronics & maybe Xact. Audiovox has been out the Sirius game all of 2006. So now that Directed is down, Sirius is down.

Unlike XM, when Delphi is down, or Audiovox or Pioneer, there are other suppliers of product.

This is bad for Sirius. This is the time of year when people are outfitting their rides for road trips.

It appears that Sirius wanted to wait until after the fathers day holiday.

Damn the FCC/NAB. Attacking XM and now Sirius. Will their attacks on SDARS never end?

I had faith in Mel. Obviously Frear lied like the proverbial rug.

What say you Mel ?
Can't we trust you ?

Does Sirius start getting class-actions next as others have for being misleading ?

I just did channel checks at Best Buy, CC, and car toys in 4 major cities in the US and have found none that didn't have plenty of Sirius product. I think this entire episode has been made up and doesn't hold a candle to the truth. Who at Sirius is going to respond to a rumor in the first place?

Directed Electronics is a distributor, not a supplier. Sirius uses 3 (4?) different suppliers for their radios.

If this is true (no confirmation from Sirius, this is just a rumor), all retailers have plenty in stock, plus sirius has already released the FCC compliant Sportster4 which is available at some online retailers and should be hitting retailers soon.

Sirius has been on this kick lately with not releasing info about new radios until they are ready to ship. dont be shocked if sirius announces a new line up of radios in the very near future.

Halting shipments is not the same as pulling items from the shelves. During the XM shipment halt, there were still items on the shelves. If this were a rumor, Mel would have already issued a press release.

Pretty funny, no?

We got word that Clarion is pulling back all Calypso's NICEs and Calypso accessories (Home and Car kits, as well as boomboxes) early this week. May be related.

Just checked Amazon and Crutchfield. They seem to have plenty in stock.

So far the story is that they're HALTING shipments, not pulling them off the shelves. So of course they're still on shelves for now, but with the XM receivers that were pulled, it took less than a week for all of the affected models to sell out here. In fact, I got the second to last Xpress in town at Target...

Halting retail shipments doesn't mean stopping retail sales, it means they won't be shipping additional product to the retailers..

I had been waiting for the new Sirius Sportster 4 Jam Pack to go on sale. Last night I was able to order on of these NEW radios fron Circuit City on line. While they are not in the stores yet CC seems to be selling new just released radios not stopping sales.

It may take a week for in store product to run out, but it will take a month for the Sirius investors to catch on that something's amiss,

Directed Electronics IS the supplier for the Sirius One, Sportster Replay & 4, Starmate Replay and all SiriusConnect tuners, plus all acessories for those radios. They are the ones who supply the big box chains, plus the smaller companies.

They are the ones who are backordered on all things.

Sure Best Buy, Circuit City, Cructhfield and the other big boxes are still supplied. They buy 1000s at a time.
Check back at the middle of July...different story.

I hope Sirius is going to be ready for the holiday season this year.
They certainly weren't last year.

Amen Westfall... You nailed it. Siri is selling like hotcakes today, I sold out. The average Joe doesn't know that this may impact SIRI sales and certainly impact Q3 by the looks of things.

NWXDUDE: A Supplier is VERY different than a distributor.

Directed does not produce anything except maybe take the s50 out of the box and put it in their box with the other acessories from another supplier. I tend to think of a supplier as a vendor/manufacturer. Sirius has more than one manufacturer of radios/acessories. Think of Directed as a Target/Walmart/Home Depot. That is essentially what Directed does.

Jan 2, 2007: i have been waiting more than two months for a promised replacement for a faulty sirius sportster receiver. their own excuse - as of today and only after i had to call them back repeatedly: a shortage of stock. two months? give me a break! there's something siriusly wrong with this operation!

I just purchased a Sirius radio and have nothing but static on all the stations. I went back to the place i purchased it and they said that Sirius had to reduct the high frequency as per the FCC. Now, the retailer said that i would have to ad a FM Booster to my radio to eliminate all the static. ($90.00)
Is any of this true? I cannot seem to get a straight answer from any one. Is this for the SV3? Any kind of help would be good. I would sure do not want to return it and be stuck with regular FM
