As opposed to XM, Sirius had a far more significant booth presence at CES this year. It actually wasn't much different from last year's booth (nor should it be, why reinvent the wheel?) though the cars were updated and packed far more features.
The Ford Edge was the Sirius Backseat TV display car, while the Mini Cooper was simply pimped out to the max with every product Sirius has to offer. More on the Mini later.

Check out a lot more photos after the jump...

Wow, I guess we know who will handle the marketing for the combined company. Cool!

This would seem to be consistent with XM's overall strategy of growth through OEM distribution versus SIRI's growth via retail.
Perhaps XM thinks there is no value in continued development of its brand -- if the brand is not going to be prevalent post-merger, OR they just think the brand isn't that critical when sales are coming via OEM distribution -- whatever, XM elected to save the money for some reason I suppose.
Could be because they really don't have a damned think new to show anyone other than the new OEM features.
That set-up is pretty cool, but I heard XM has Europe performing live. Better luck next year, Sirius.
Ya, given XM CEO's comments on their OEM focus the presence at CES doesn't surprise me at all. The auto show seems to be the focus in the coming weeks, this has already been released to the general public. Why spend money at a consumer focused show (eg. one focused at retailers who sell to end consumers) when you are truly motivated to go down another path?
its nice to see your old post without the anonymous bashers in 2008
