Sirius signs Mark Thompson

His show was one of the better show on the Power. A big plus for Sirus and a loss for XM.

Why is it that you have to take an hour away from the Ed Schultz Show and leave Alex Bennett with 3 hrs and Lynn Samnuels for 2? We used to listen to Alex Bennett, but were totally disgusted when all he ever talks about is his girlfriends, personal body parts and his healtth. Sure swears enough and takes very few calls. Those that he does take are regular callers and very few others. Ed Schultz, DOES NOT screen his callers and listens to them. Very seldom will he hang up on a person.Alex Bennett should only have 2 hrs NOT 3 at most. Lynn Samuels is another one that has a very bad mouth. She seldom takes any calls. She is another one who talks about a lot of personal things. We dont like listening to talk show hosts like this. I dont understand why all of these talk show hosts that are on this long of a period of time are New Yorkers. Why is Stephanie Miller being shortened? Seems to us that talk show hosts that give us up to date info that is not talked to on other talk shows are losing part of their program time. Seems like Sirius is starting to get TOO POLITICAL the other way. Seems like we will be dropping Sirius and go to XM Radio. If changes are not going to be made, we will be dropping Sirius. It is disgusting that all of a sudden one day we are listening to Ed Schultz and without any notice get a person by the name of Mark Thompson who we never heard of. VERY POOR COMMUNICATION AND POOR JUDGEMENT. We will let all of our friends know about this.

On December 28 Mark Thompson was talking about dog fighting. He gave me the impression that he thought it was alright and it was in the black peoples culture to have dog fiighting. I thought he did more harm in the black movement with those thoughts than any good he has done. Listening to his show I wasn't proud to say I am black. He saids he is a minister, shouldn't he ask himself one question "What would Jesus think about how we are treating one of his creation just for money. I don't think I will listen to Mark Thompson anymore, I have lost any faith in what he has to say.

I'm new to Sirius. I consider myself a moderate Republican, but I certainly do like to hear all points of view. Today I decided to tune in to Sirius Left, and Lynn Samuels's show was on. This is a vulgar woman. I listened for all of 10 minutes and had to turn her off. No one calls her - or she doesn't take calls. She droned on and on; every other word out of her mouth disgusting. Had anyone walked in my office, I would have been totally embarrassed! It was a drastic contrast from Sirius Patriot, which offered intelligent dialogue. I will check out Sirius Left again, but definitely at another time of day! There must be someone out there not quite as crass as Samuels.

Originally a Clinton supporter, I watched the debates, Iowa primries, Nebraska, etc. from the beginning. I cannot recall a single moment where Obama was disrespectful to Hillary. He has to the contrary been eloquently cordial, kind and respectful....even when his supporters wanted to see him squash her. His respect for her was so profound I likened it to respect he would have shown for his own mother. Hillary in turn became more rude, nasty, boisterous and totally disrespectful. She and Bill put forth every effort to engage Obama in a mud wrestle about race to no avail. Bill and Hillary were in turn transparently frustrated, lost focus, and began a personal hate campaign. As a result, they shoved 92% of blacks into a bus and dumped them on Obama's front lawn then cried fowl, claiming Obama had introduced race into the campaign. (Note: There was no where else for the black voter to go if they were to remain faithful to the party). I am very disappointed in the Clintons and regret that my grandchildren are having to witness such terrible behavior from such political figures. Additiionally, there is no way she can now be VP to the "Candidate for Change" - the only change she has projected is "Change Back to the Old South" which we will never allow to happen. This woman was on the verge of inciting civil unrest in this country....all because she cannot handle rejection. What is even more repulsive is that her supporters continue to close their eyes to her "divisive" and "derrogatory" actions and try to explain away her totally unacceptable behavior. In the event no one has informed them, please announce for me and those that see as I do "1600 Pennsylvania Avenue belongs to the citizens (taxpayers) of this great country - Not Bill, Hillary or Chelsey Clinton and we emphatically say NO!!!! to any Clinton.....now or in the future."

Hi my name is "Steve" and i am a staunch Barack Obama supporter and lifelong Democrat. I am also a non violent non gun owner who believes in the teachings of Dr.King among others.I have called Mark Thompsons show a total of 3 times of which i have the phone records as sirius satellite radio does (which they assured me of in private and said" it's just the way Mark is").Mark and i got into a heated discussion about gun rights and some other things and i said he was ignorant...man did that get under his skin(of which i said the color did not matter) but what really bothered him was my bringing up his departure from Xm radio and that i wished Sirius radio had hired a true black visionary such as Ron Pinchback or Verna Avery Brown among others from WPFW 89.3 here in DC instead of himself.For some reason i thought Mark was from DC and tried to relate to him that i had grown up in PG county and was a "hometown boy"(despite my off whiteness).My mistake because Mark then turned that into "Steve says he knows where i'm at and has threatened to shoot me with a gun".He also said "Steve calls here all of the time and is violent and makes threats" on that day and at other times.But the truth is Sirius radio and i have both the recorded conversations with Mark and his screener and the phone records showing a total of 2 calls the 1st day and 1one other time.So i must not be the "Steve" that Mark is talking about.So if that is the case who is it in fact that he is talking about?The thing is if it was true he would have had the FBI out here in a second and i would be happy to show them around for a free and fun no holds barred search for any guns or anything else because i'm a gun free,drug free etc. non felon with current and past security clearances.But it is not true and Mark Thompson lies and has picked some imaginary villian named "Steve" as his tormentor that quote: "we don't let him on too much but he calls all the time and would like to shoot me". I say again Mark Thompson is ignorant and he is also a liar. Yes calling someone ignorant can make them mad....but was it wrong? Was it inaccurate? Why did Sirius pick Mark Thompson when there are so many other more highly qualified African American intellectual visionaries out there?Do they hate African Americans that much? I am a god believer but i portrayed myself as a non believer to Mark(to help him learn) and took issue with his greeting of "god bless you".I myself as a god believer would never adress/greet others with "god bless you" out of respect for the possible non god believers who Mark Thompson villifies so unfairly, among others, who are different from him.But Mark Thompson doesn't have much respect.This is common among "sports guys" and "ministers" as Mark calls himself.Not a lot of brains and no respect for those who do not hold his beliefs or those that challenge his positions however misaligned they may be. Mark Thompson does anything but make it plain. I see why XM canned him.If it wasn't for Mike Malloy i'd have canned my sirius subscription long ago.I challenge Mark Thompson to read this letter on his show...and don't worry Mark because i'm certainly not paranoid that it is me that you are referring to and if it is Mark....so what? Wow,did anyone hear the Mark Thompson show this evening?Dick Gregory was on and kept calling mark stupid/dumb and even compared religion to alcohol and drug addiction.Wasn't it fun to hear minister Mark Just take it and squirm!! I have nothing against Mark but I hate the fact that we as progressives listeners finally had a show in Ed Shultz that connected and we losted an hour of programming. How about the show from 9-12 useless and stupid and from 1-3 Lynn Samuels I dont think I need to say anything about her; that is probably the worst used air space ever used. something works and you change it I dont understand.

First of all I want to say that I enjoy listening to your show every day while I am driving home from work, but I want to say this one thing about Gov Palin in that I find her as a Elitist, ruthless, and racsist. I don't see her quite as a woman, neither do I see her in the role of Commander & Chief.

Mark I love your show but I just want to comment on the Obama & McCain that I think with all this talk about bailout McCain is putting on a dog and Poney show for the American People going back to Washington as if he is saving the day. During the Debate it seem that McCain refuse to look at Obama as if there is a under current of rascism. I think that he is so out of touch because one he doesn't know what it feels like to struggle, he doesn't know what it feels like to be unexcepted, put down. People view our skin color as being dirty so they treat us like dirt. Then there are people who are White don't see us that way. They view us on our own merit of intelligence, values. We know how it feels to be left out and struggle for things. Thats why most White rich people have evolved from rascism card over to rich & poor meaning that they will do whatever it takes to make sure that black people don't become rich or do better. I was so suprise of a commit that one of your listners made in that he said what if the Government gave every working class tax payer a 1 million dollar tax benifit which would be the cost of 350 million dollars instead of 700 billion dollars. When you look at that statement there is a huge difference in that it would stimulate the economy by working paying off all debt. One could put in stipulations to control how the money is spent. However a huge portion of the money would be poured into the economy which would put the lending institutions on a safer footing as far as investiments in the America. There is another thing all this bad debt is not of the lenders is not just in the U.S. What do you think ?

ACTUAL COMMENTS: Some Americans believe that SENATOR BARACK OBAMA is too inexperienced to be President. However, the first Black President of South Africa was Nelson Mandela and he won without any help from Senator John McCain. But because of worldwide pressure placed on the White South African government to eliminate apartheid, and as a result history will never forget this inexperienced president’s achievements.

So, let us compare America’s Republican Party with South Africa’s Apartheid Party and see which one had the most Blacks in their party. So how many Black Delegates were in the Apartheid Party’s Convention in South Africa, and how many was at the Republican Party’s Presidential Convention in 2008?

Then consider President F.W. De Klerk views, analysis, and response to Mandela becoming president with NO previous experience. Except for the experience he received in prison and from working as a community organizer that took him from a prison cell to the highest office in the land.

If this had happened in America what would America’s news Media response be in comparison to President Nelson Mandela, and our 2008, presidential election with Senator Barack Obama run for the Oval Office?

Moreover, what was the response to the South African People concerning Mandela’s inexperience? How did they feel? What did they say? How did they treat him? And when it came to race, hate and patriotism did the people act with wisdom in their endeavor to elevate their country’s image around the world?

And are we displaying our humanity to man in our 2008 presidential election as the people of South Africa under apartheid or is it about the same? Moreover was Mandela a president only for Black People? Or was he the president of all the people?

Was he a good president or a bad president? Was he a liberal, conservative, Christian, Muslim, Jew, or other? And can America learn from the people of South African?

In addition are South Africa and the world better off because this inexperienced President served his nation? And how does America compare to apartheid when it comes to fairness, equality, hate and fear in America?

Are there similarities between apartheid and the Republican Party as they treat and respond to those who disagree with them? And are republicans the most fearful and hateful people ever to exist under the name of Christianity? If so, they should stop lecturing the nations of the world on hate, fear, love and terrorism.

It seems that the job of republicans, evangelicals, and others is to tell God what or whatnot to do, and that they alone are fair and balanced. Therefore they seem to have made themselves a god beside God and ordained themselves to rule by any means necessary. Even if it includes hate, fear, false patriotism, and military might. How sad?

I paid $500 bucks for sirrus and the radio and instalation and all. When I first heard Lynn Samuels I thought it was a weird joke. I am shocked that I paid for such crap. That voice, perfect for print journalism, except she has nothing of value to say. I don't want to hear about her personal life. And what's the point of the foul language? She should be put on a special channel for the deaf. ALex Bennett has a better voice but only uses it to talk about himself. I want my money back!!!!!

Mark, I enjoy your show "make it plain" I wish you would challange the IRS and find out why there is a double standard. One for the affluent and another for the rank and file .

How can anyone go for several years without paying their fair share of taxes, and the hourly wage earner will lose everthing they have if they can't afford to pay what they owe.

Also call out those corporations that put their money in the Banks in the Cauman Islands so they don't have to pay taxes in the U. S. But they live here and take advantage of the services that our taxes pay for.

Oh I tried listening to Mark Thompson so many times and it stresses the heck out of me. I myself am very involved with the advancement of blacks in education. I disclaim that because if I were to call his show and disagree with anything, he'll automatically assume I'm a Republican or a racist.

His rethoric is VERY counterproductive. All he does is whine about his apparent belief that the current problems of blacks come from current racism. I'm not saying that racist is non-existent, but it is NOT the current source of the social differences we see in blacks.

The issue is due to historical injustices that has crippled the sociological, economical, and psychological advancement of the black community.

He is very dismissive, accusatory, and polarizing.

He compares himself with MLK. Not a chance. MLK was an activist for social equality, BUT he also guided the African American community to better themselves, and not take social injustices as a crutch. He taught personal responsibility. That is REAL leadership.

Hello, This is a request for Mr Thompson: Since you have Dick Gregory on your program often, I would like to know if there is any way I can get a copy of the recordings he made at the West Point graduation or the Air Force Academy graduation. I'm looking for the segment "Cowboys and Indians".
Back in the 70's I was in the Navy when the Military was going thru a major racial crisis, the Navy initiated mandatory "Race Relation Seminars" I was a trained facilitator at these seminars on the Base where I was stationed and we used Mr. Gregory's Recordings as a study guide. I have tried in vain to find these recordings, so any help you can give me from Mr. Gregory will be appreciated.

Message To Talk Radio Critics of Mark Thompson!

Brother Mark Thompson (Make It Plain) is our man, and I do mean----our man. The man who truly loves this country, his people and not afraid to speak truth to power that will transplant energy to the human brain.

Moreover to those who are mad at Brother Mark for speaking truth to power must have a transfusion of love from the original and only love doctor? The Black African Citizens was sent to help save the soul of America in times like these.

America must remember. That it was evil and hatred that brought forth Governor George Wallace, Lester Maddox, Bull Conner, and others into the world of wicked decline. However in a way it was their evil deeds and speech process the brought forth a Rev. Martin L. King Jr., and others from that line of Holy Divine.

Therefore we must keep moving the searchlight so those who walk blindly will one day receive their sight and just maybe they will keep from falling over their own graves before time.

I was recently notified by several Wal-Mart Assistant Manager and workers in the Valdosta-Lowndes County Area, that my successor at Wal-Mart Store #2615 Department 9, Manager of Sporting Goods (a white female) was moved from department manager over Toys to assume the position of Sporting Goods 9, Manager, wherein I was wrongfully terminated for “Inability to perform Job.”

Mr. President/CEO Board of Directors, Store Manager of Store #2615, Co-Manager Andy, Assistant Manager Frank, Trina, Shannon, and others who was my supervisor or over the Sporting Goods Area at Store #2615. I am sending this “Open and Very Public Request” to Wal-Mart Stores Inc. to provide me with copies of Wal-Mart Documents showing to following:

a. Who was assigned as my (George Boston Rhynes) trainer?

b. What Wal-Mart Manager entered me (George Boston Rhynes) into training.

c. Who followed through with training until it was completed.

d. Which documents did I date, initial off on and provide my signature that I was properly trained?

e. What Wal-Mart Assistant Manager dated, initialed, and signed off on the required documents of Wal-Mart Stores Inc., Four Week Training Program as required upon the completion of the Four-Week Training Program for (Sporting Goods Department)?

f. Where are the copies of the dated, signed and initialed documents of trainers, assistant managers etc. Along with my dated, initials and signatures for each of the items above? This is to include both start and completion dates in which I completed the required training. Then just maybe a person of average intelligence could be able to understand why Store Manager Hal could terminate a worker for “Inability to Perform Job.”

Mr. President, this should be an extremely easy task for a person with your level of training and professionalism. Simply make copies and return them to me by United States Mail, and I should have to wait for over a year as it was in receiving a written reply following my wrongful termination well over a year ago that was nothing more than a Wal-Mart Joke.

I would appreciate a reply to this letter within 10 (ten) days. It is a SIMPLE request for Wal-Mart Stores Inc. to provide proof of my training as a department manager. I was told that the White Female Sporting Goods Manager was indeed entered into the four-week training program—that was denied to me. I cannot prove this. However both Managers and Associates employed at Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has informed me that this lady have been treated differently from me. Several of these Assistant Managers some who are no longer in the area and some remains but agree that I was wrongful termination and are not happy with how I have been treated by Wal-Mart Store Inc. in Valdosta, Georgia.

Also, I have included a letter explaining problems at store #2615, among other things, and I understand there more will be forth coming. Therefore I insists on being treated as an American Citizen with workers rights and not as workers in China or in some other third world nation. So as a retired military veteran that served this country with honor and distinction refuse to be treated as workers in China. I await your timely response. Thanks.

SPECIAL NOTE: The follow letter was given to me on July 10, 2009 at 4:15 P.M. This Former Wal-Mart Associate, Mr. Charles Judge, was terminated a few months following my wrongful termination. He insisted on writing a letter concerning his experience and my wrongful termination. He was an Associate at Wal-Mart Store #2615 in Sporting Goods Department while I was the department manager. {This is his story, and he volunteered to write this letter to: Whom It May Concern.

My wrongful termination has become a matter of concern for several associates including managers in this area. You can be expecting more letters. However they will be directed to the American people and NOT necessarily to Wal-Mart Stores Inc., Mainly because it has become Godly Clear that workers rights are not being respected at Wal-Mart Stores #2615, and we the people continue to bury our head in the sand concerning this long period of mistreated Georgia Workers. Then nothing will change. But I am more that 100% sure that things will be changed and workers can once again back shopping at Wal-Mart Stores Inc., and start informing their family members and others----that Wal-Mart has changed its ways and now treat workers as real American Citizens.

& Wal-Mart Executives (On Behalf of George Boston Rhynes Wrongful Termination and Remaining Wal-Mart Associates at Store #2615)

As a former Wal-Mart Patron, and later employee at Wal-Mart Store #2615, located in Valdosta, Georgia at the time when George B. Rhynes was Department Manager of Sporting Goods. I must first inform Wal-Mart Managers and the American People that that Wal-Mart abuses its employees and covertly avoids customer service at store #2615.

I will first offer my view on my 1st Sporting Goods Department Manager George Rhynes. He was fair to all associates and always worked hard to try to satisfy the ever changing, (and demanding) task of reach around your ass to scratch your elbow work projects being constantly required of us.

I must explain that at Wal-Mart Store #2615 there are all chiefs and no Indians. One manager will come by and ask you to do a large, (often ridiculous) project; and about time you finish another manager, will come by and tell you to move etc., do something else, or undo it, then the previous or another manger will come by and want to know what and or why you’ve seemingly got nothing done. This scenario is played out daily and often with many projects simultaneously given without regards to previous assigned tasks and suspense’s.

This is the main reason why Wal-Mart isles are always piled up with boxes and pallets of indecipherable merchandise. In my case I applied during Christmas for part time cashier as I already had a job I liked and they liked me. (Manager and Arms Truck Stop)

After several interviews where by it was clearly, disclosed that I have neck injury problems and heavy lifting was out of the question, Wal-Mart offered me a position as sales assistance in Sporting Goods Department and my primary requirement was “to sell guns {which I excelled at} and constantly had customers lining up to buy guns from me. These customers also consistently told management of my outstanding service, attitude and product knowledge of gun sales and in the area of customer service. (Ask any of them)

My reviews resulted in raises and Wal-Mart asked me if I would quite my other job to work their full time. The old skies the limit speech I guess won me over to quite my other job thinking the grass was greener on Wal-Mart Side! And after seeing that I had a knack for gun sales, (that it just wasn’t Christmas Rush), I did give my notice to AMS and went full time at Wal-Mart and within day’s George was fired as Sporting Goods Department Manager. And I was asked to fill his vacant position.

Well after seeing how hard George worked and that his product knowledge etc. was top notch. I declined, not wanting to be put in the position of having to be in two places at once, and be responsible to try to satisfy and kiss too many asses, of who themselves were ever stressed with the same.

Well they begin laying Sporting Goods Department Managers responsibility on me anyway, without hiring the required amount of help. (They were already short two people shift in that department when I started and now I was alone trying to do the job for three, at the very least.)

But instead of appreciation I was told to ignore Wal-Mart customers to do heavy lifting of which I was not able to perform without violating my doctor’s orders. I complained that that was a violation of our hiring agreement and my doctors orders (which I provided a copy of) and was told by Wal-Mart Store #2615 Manager Hal Hallwell “that is why we have workers comp” what the hell man?

Anyway, I experienced what George was put through, plus to top it all off, I was hurt. And when the job orders had re-injured my neck (and put me down for months), I have yet to fully recover. They fired me for filling Workman’s Comp claim and refused to pay any Medical or Compensation until I was so broken I had to take a small settlement just to keep a place to live to maintain my family well being. This took a year.

On June 17, 2008 I was given a “pink Slip” stating no rehire. Then on June 17, 2009 I filed for unemployment insurance, as I want to try to go back to work but Wal-Mart claimed in writing that “I quit” thus exempting me from those funds. I considered this to be unfair, Un-American and against Workers Rights.

Therefore I have appealed my firing and disgraceful termination notice to the “Georgia Department of Labor” and faxed them a copy of all pertinent documents. In fact, I actually presented this document in person in addition to sending them a copy. Now they are entering other grounds not previously considered or ruled on. The point being George is on to something when he says, “Wal-Mart has become a “god beside God” and answers to no one.

Moreover it seems that Wal-Mart have become a dictator in this country (and likely others too). They have and are killing small businesses. I actually heard a Wal-Mart commercial pushing socialized health care on talk radio. Well, no matter your view on President Obama’s Universal Health Care (Communism). This is not Wall-Mart or any other company’s domain, unless they are government agents. This can of worms is endless.

Any way when you go to Wal-Mart and can’t get help or the employees avoid you when you need customer service please understand that this is what Wal-Mart Stores Inc. Executives wants and NOT their employees.

We get reprimanded for taking time to actually provide any real customer assistance. Wal-Mart only needs mules to move around a bunch of China Made Junk for American Suckers. It is becoming clearer and clearer that Wal-Mart Stores Inc. cares little to nothing about there workers or providing too service to their customers. Well not me, anymore. I have seen the light!
