UPDATE: The Sirius Starmate 5 has been unveiled!A little birdy has told us that the Sirius Starmate 5, first seen in the hallowed halls of the FCC (hence the ugly photo), will be making its debut in stores on October 6th.
Indeed, that coincides with the release date that XM had to disclose to the FCC for the now uber-public XMp3.
The same birdy has confirmed what we already suspected as well, that the Starmate 5 will an A La Carte radio and "more radios will also be released for both services the same day." Does this include the XMp3, or others that we haven't seen yet? Mum's the word for now.

So will none of the current radios (XM or Sirius) be able to receive channels from the other service? Are we all going to have to upgrade if we want to get stations from the other service? I don't want to give up my Starmate Replay. It has an awesome FM transmitter in it.
Hey, Ryan here's a tip! Not to be outdone, Slacker Radio has released a new version of the Slacker Portable named the "G2." What's new, I don't exactly know, but it looks good and here's the link.

NO. you don't. Both XM and Sirius radios are capable of getting the BEST OF package. If you want ALL of both THEN you will need a new radio.
My understanding is existing units will get "Best Of.." services. The newer A La Carte radios receive both services. Someone correct me if I am wrong.
You get the Best of stations with all sirius radio's i believe, this will only enable you to use the a la cart stations. To have the full XM on Sirius you would have to wait for awhile more
You are correct. Sir
Thanks a lot Flap Jackson that Slacker link you are passing out contains a virus.
I clicked it. No virus here. Just see the REAL url. No yahoo links attached.
