Ryan, this is data tracked from June 05 - June 06. as you stated, the StarMate Replay was released in September 05. Even though it was out 3 months less than all of the other radios, it was still #1! even after the roady2 was dropped to $19.99 for the holidays. this is not good for XM!
It shows that hardware price point is not the deciding factor in which service you choose, its the content! Sirius has 4 out of the top 6.

The top four are NOT being sold at Walmart. They sell the Xact Communication Visor, the Xact Replay, the RoadyXT, the XM Sportscaster, the Pioneer Inno, and the MyFi (which is currently on clearance.)

So, if we included Walmart's sales, the Visor (which is NPD's #5) would probably be the overall top seller. Maybe... and I do mean maybe. I took one look at Walmart's selection and then drove to Radio Shack to pick up a Starmate Replay.

More ads then I can remember show a cheaper Sirius unit then what they show for XM in the ad.

wow, you figured me out! ok guys, my real name is Mel Karmazin. ive been hiding under the alias "Philmore" so i would not be found out. it appears ahigee is more clever than i thought.

anyway, now that every knows who i am, ill let you guys know that the SL10 and SL100tk1 will be the most advanced DSR on the market, and XM will not have a piece of equipment to compete with it until sometime next year. in fact, these new radios will blow away all MP3 players out today including the beloved IPOD!

rest assured, the SL100tk1 will have a built in antenna for "live on the go" functions. it will also do your taxes for you. yes, its that good!

P.S. IM Awesome! thank you hugh for my making my job so easy. if sadam ruled iraq like you run XM, we could have won the war already using only super soakers and water balloons.

I work for NPD, and actually am one of the analyst who help work on this data. I can account for its validity. We go not get WalMart data (long story why apperently), but Sirius did no doubt sell more in that time Period (Tell'em Fred)... Anyway, IMO, OnA rock All The Way...Go XM

is "sternfan" serious? Wal Mart is only by far the largest retailer in the country and is second to only Best Buy in electronics. Of course they make a difference. That would be like compiling 'America's Best Selling Burger' but then leaving McDonald's out of the sampling.
