Yet another Sirius satellite radio has hit the hallowed halls of the FCC, this time it's the Sirius Stratus 5 dock and play radio taking center stage.Unfortunately, aside from its squarified new look, there doesn't appear to be much in terms of a change from the prior version. Much like it's big brother, the upcoming Sirius Starmate 5, the Stratus 5 is still sporting the old-school monochromatic display... albeit with less lines.
And alas, there's no indication from reading through the User Manual (PDF) that the Stratus 5 will have the possible a la carte functionality we saw on the Starmate 5.
So here's the breakdown of the Stratus 5's ho-hum functionality:
- "Easy to read" 3-line display
- Built-in wireless FM transmitter
- Jump button

It's CRAP
I am soooo losing interest in satellite radio, Stern and his vacations/surprise shows, O&A are b-o-r-i-n-g. The talk/political shows are filled with commercials. The music is tired and they play the same playlist's over and over. Bubba is now hardly there, and the bits are lame with the restrictions put on them because of the merger. I actually canceled two subs last week, one Sirius and one XM. The "berry best" B.S. with Ralph pissed me off last week, and I have not listened to XM in a month. I am now down to my Stiletto2 and My Sirius OEM in my new car..... XM is history and totally not necessary.
Also, you would have to be insane to buy either of these stocks. I sold mine at $4.02 last year. Good thing..... it has dropped like a rock , down to $2.58 today. I really do not know if a merger is going to work, and quite frankly I don't see this merger going through this FCC with Kevin "the boy" Martin. It seems like he won't screw the good ole boys at ClearChannel down there in Texas by permitting a merger anyway. Even if they do permit a merger, it would not not be worth the conditions that will be attached to it. Then Sirius puts out this piece of junk, even IF it plays XM, who cares? I can see a fire sale coming for one or BOTH real soon. I am a fan, but getting real frustrated. To be honest I really only like about 8 or 9 channels anyway.
