Sirius Stratus 6: Sirius XM unveils new A La Carte radio

Sirius Stratus 6
In addition to the XM Onyx just unveiled, Sirius XM Radio Inc. have also taken the wraps off the Sirius Stratus 6.

Despite being an entry-level unit, the Stratus 6 has some features not seen in other radios - like support for "A La Carte" channel selection packages (you can also still get every programming package currently available on the Sirius network, including "The Best of XM"), plus the new PowerConnect FM transmitter.
The Stratus 6 is a value offering radio, so it won't have a color screen like other recent satellite radios we've seen lately. Instead it features a big blue backlit display as well as the ability to access up to 10 favorite channels, and the One-Touch Jump traffic and weather feature.

As with other new satellite radio receivers coming out, the Stratus 6 comes with the PowerConnect FM transmitter, which is lightyears ahead of other FM transmitters (if you're comparing the Stratus 6 vs. the Sirius Starmate 5, or even the earlier Stratus 5, the PowerConnect feature gives the Stratus 6 a huge advantage). With PowerConnect, which is patent-pending, installation is now a snap (literally) and you get much better sound quality through your radio than other FM transmitters. The Stratus 6 comes with a vehicle kit plus Sirius' universal docking capability.

The Sirius Stratus 6 will be sold starting in the Fall 2009 at an MSRP of $69.99.

The Stratus model are crap. They should hand these out for free in hopes of fooling and entrapping more newbs and suckers who think paying for radio makes sense.

A 'value offering'? You mean a whole $10 less than the Onyx, which itself was grazed by the ugly stick? How 'bout them interoperable receivers there, Melvin?

As always, Slacker FTW.

The past flurry of new devices for both the XM platform and Sirius platform has proven that there is nobody in charge over at Sirius XM. Two separate platforms bleeding money away like there is no tomorrow. Most people would replace their radios within 2 years. Sirius XM should be taking advantage of this and only offering XM equipment. Where is the logic? There isn't any. Die faster, Sirius XM, your decisions are entirely stupid.

And it looks like the most ghetto unit ever released. Way to go Sirius!!

How come all the new radios coming out only offer 10 presets?
I won't be replacing my 30 preset capable SkyFi2 anytime soon.

Yeah this thing looks like another cheap turd released by Sirius.. how long til the backlight stops working on this p.o.s

This is what happens when you have a old radio man at the helm, there is zero focus and money spent on design. He and the other over 50 crowd at the helm have no clue.

Remember that these are the same people that said the iPhone was no threat to Sat Radio

Just what we need another black and white piece o crap radio that no one will buy.

Way to go sirius!!! get your act together.
Your hardware is pre historic.

This thing looks straight out of the 80's. Way to go Sirius!

Wow... that's some ugly hardware by 2009 standards.
