Sirius XM BlackBerry App
The rumors were true, and our sources were dead on. The official Sirius XM BlackBerry App has launched today and is available for download right now.
The Sirius XM BlackBerry App is available on the following models:
  • BlackBerry Storm / Storm 2 (Series 9550)
  • BlackBerry Bold (Series 9000)
  • BlackBerry Bold (Series 9700)
  • BlackBerry Tour (Series 9600)
  • BlackBerry Curve (Series 8500
  • BlackBerry Curve (Series 8900)
Sirius XM BlackBerry App
The channel lineup is just as suspected, 120 channels of the Premium Sirius|XM Online package... and no Howard Stern.

Sirius XM's BlackBerry App is available as a free download, and they're offering a 7-day free trial for folks who want to give it a try.

Either way, this is great news, and Sirius XM's mobile offering is growing.

UPDATE: The press release announcing the new BlackBerry App just hit the wires.

I'm sorry but Howard is a fucking pig for not allowing his channels to be used with the apps. There's no way he isn't behind this. He is not a fucking team player. Asshole.

I am a listener but it pisses me off that I have to use a third rate workaround to get his show!

friggin' awesome! i'm shocked that XM actually released something when they said they would (although if you check the website there's not a single mention of the BB app anywhere. great marketing, guys). seems to work pretty well. sound quality is good and so far i've only seen some minor bugs.

It seems like a huge missed opportunity that this isn't available in "BlackBerry App World". This is good for people like me that are already subscribers and who read pages like Orbitcast, but to potential new customers this isn't something that they are just going to find. Isn't that really what Sirius/XM are really looking for here? They built in a free trial, but it doesn't seem that it would do any good if the people that would utilize that trial don't even know that this is out there.

This is good news; but like many former BlackBerry users I switched to an Android phone a few months ago.

When can we expect an Android app from SiriusXM?

This is turning out to be a pretty big year for the platform: http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/11/21/2010-the-year-android-will-shake-it%E2%80%99s-money-maker/

It's pretty slick. The sign up process was virtually incomprehensible, though. XM's Internet UI is a nightmare.

This is true, it is bs to have to use the orb workaround still... However I used the app all day during work and it was great listening to Opie & Anthony and Ron & Fez without worrying about a third party app crashing. So in summary, this is awesome!

This just shows you how out of touch howard really is. Radio is dying everyone will use their phones and stuff to stream like most of us do already. The hayseeds will take a little longer and bitch when they can't get stern anymore. but he is the biggest thing in radio........maybe 20 years ago

Opie and Anthony's channel is available and since that's about all I use Sirius/XM for, I'm pretty happy with the new app.

If you like Sirius XM then see their “rags to riches” story on DVD. The movie is called “Stock Shock” and it goes over the history, development, and near-death experience of the stock. I did not know the inventor of sirius xm was a woman!–well she is now, at least. DVD is cheaper at www.stockshockmovie.com, but the DVD is pretty much everywhere for sale.

Love the new app, I can't believe it took this long to get it on the BB. People are upset it is not on the Droid yet...people it took months/years to get it on the BB! Howard is a tool, screw him and his greedy ass. Great job Sirius/XM and thanks Orbitcast for giving us the heads up and quick link. SiriusXM still have not sent me an email to tell me this is available...what is wrong with them?

Ha, too little too late for the worthless Blackberry platform.

I just jumped to Android, and would not even consider using this app without Howard, but i'm sure Sirius would try to nickel and dime us to death.

Worthless..

I installed the app on my storm. It is working. Only problem is, the keyboard will not minimize so I only see 1/2 of the app screen.....

This dang app keeps timing out every once in a while. Anyone else having this type of issue?

I have it installed on my 9700, working perfect.
No time outs, music quaility sounds good for sitting at my desk at work.
I am also streaming the music from our wireless network via wifi.

Can someone please look into why the new BOLD 9650 isnt working with this app.. comes up with service unavailable.
