Well... free for 30-days at least. But it's definitely a taste at one of the longer free satellite radio trial periods yet. We all know that trial drives purchase - forget all the celebrities and hype: hearing is truly believing - and I've always felt that the 3-day trial was never enough.
So now Sirius XM are giving away free satellite radio for 30 days of the premium online subscription in a "Hear. Now" promotion.
The 30-day trial is available on the PC, iPhone, iPod Touch and stand-alone connected devices. It rolls over to a full internet subscription after the 30-day free trial period, but for a full month you get a backstage pass.

This is definitely good news as I've been interested in streaming the Sirius XM app after purchasing an iPod Touch w/SkyDock. I definitely will give this a try.
I know this doesn't exactly apply, but I hope one day Sirius XM get their priorities straight in '10. Why not put another nail in the coffin by offering ALWAYS free "commercial based" content to users that may have a device and want the service but want "free" access? I don't mean give away all the great content, I just mean a select few stations from a few of the more popular "genres" that have a ton of "SiriusXM" commercials and sell more commercial space to other interested parties.
I think this would be a very progressive look for SiriusXM and if they do it right, they could gain some interest/subs from a venture of this nature.
Mike, why not offer commercial free 6-10 channels, and kick the crap out of terrestrial? Sure, run a couple of self-promoting ads, maybe even rotate the commercials, but for goodness sakes, don't put static on all those radios!
I've been pretty impressed by this promotion being run by SIRIUS Canada and think they should do something similar here in the states:

"With 120 channels of commercial-free music plus sports, news and talk, we know you'll love exploring everything SIRIUS has to offer. We'll even bet on it! If you don't love SIRIUS after 3 months, just give us a call and we'll arrange your refund*.
*The 90-day money back guarantee is on new, primary activations to SIRIUS Satellite Radio between Sept. 3 and Nov. 1, 2009. This guarantee is available to all residents of Canada 18 years or older, excluding current subscribers. The radio must be returned with original packaging in working order and good physical condition, with all parts, accessories and receipt. Customer will be refunded subscription fees, the price of the radio, activation fees and taxes, minus shipping charges, any previous credits or rebates applied to subscriber account and cost of any missing radio parts."
And on day 29, unplug your activated Sirius radio, put it in a drawer for 3 months, plug it back in, and enjoy unlimited Sirius satellite radio for life.
@Aegrotatio: Did you read the article? It's 30 days of free SIRIUS Internet Radio or XM Radio Online.
Oof, Nathan, you're right, I didn't!!
