Well maybe if ol' Chiclet Teeth would stop feeding this rumor monster with his insane blabberings about "buying XM", the speculation would stop, once and for all.

chicklet teeth?? I thought it was Breznev with those brows

Why would he stop talking about it? It makes the stock price go up! :)

This is a rumour created by Sirius to increase the value of their stock. XM has no interest what-so-ever in doing this and why should they? Sirius is getting ready to go through the same very tough financial period that XM has just come out of. And Sirius are not in very good standing right now, as it stand they will probably have to claim chapter 11 before the end of the year (unless they can get their stock price up). Take my advice, if the two were talking about actually merging, you would hear NOTHING about it until the deal is done.

Mergeritis. Love it.

All he's done is talk about it and Sirius has shed 1/8 of their market value in the last 4 months.

Where there is smoke...

Who knows what could happen. Obviously antitrust laws prohibit a monopoly. But if Sirius offers a video service (Which has been mentioned before), then they could make the case that they are competing against Direct Tv and Dish Network.

Antitrust laws are not that hard to get around. Granted the government helped the cable companies get to be the monopolistic giants that they are but I am sure Satellite could find a way to do it more legally than the cable companies have done. However I am not a fan of monopolies to we shall see.

Stern working for Panero? Will never happen.
Panera working for Karmazin? You bet.

While I was hoping for a merger, I'm no longer sure if Sirius needs to buy XM. Considering the red-headed step-child beating XM has taken for the last five quarters ( with no end in sight ) it's looking more and more like Sirius can deep six XM without firing a shot.

Why the hell would XM ever want to merge w/Sirius? XM is #1, have more subs and are close to being a profitable business. Contrast to Sirius who's spending is out of control, still can't catch up to XM in terms of subs (in fact they count unsold cars as subs to inflate their numbers). And who's radio's are we going to use? I'm not trading in my XM radios for the dumbells Sirius sells. I just got rid of that "portable" they sell. Would you trade in your Sirius? And if I had to buy another receiver in the event of a merger I'd be done with this technology altogether and find something else to occupy my time.

Not speculating on a merger that I think is already a done Tom Turkey is like not worrying about Global warming until your back yard catches fire.

You got all the signs excpet Jesus writing on a fricking billboard.

Why because Mel says so? Mel is a coat-tail riding ass. The face of your company shouldn't try to be a rockstar himself. All Mel does is talk of a merger because he knows his company is in for some serious financial problems this year.

I'd like to merger with Jamie Lee Curtis.

Call me...... 1-800-mel-vinn
