Sirius XM teases that "Something big is coming..."

XM Email "Something big is coming"On Friday, Sirius XM Radio Inc. sent out an email with the subject line teasing "Something big is coming..." adding that we will find out next week why Sirius or XM make more sense than ever.
The email also mentions a "one week sales event" with "3 deals - 3 ways to listen." Both XM and Sirius have sent out the same message, and as far as I can tell, XM sent theirs first with Sirius following later.

Sirius Email "Something big is coming"The "one week sales event" is self-explanatory, but the "3 deals - 3 ways to listen" leaves a lot of room for question.

What other ways to listen do they mean? Radio, Internet, and... ?

Let the speculation begin.
Thanks to everyone who sent this in!

I thought it was just a cheesy ad for a one-week sale

I'm guessing that it may be because a lot of the new 3G's are Sirius XM capable.

Not one damn thing on my XM subscriber notification e-mail.

So who are they communicating that to??

Dosen't appear to be the people that are sending in their hard earned money to subscribe to a failing medium.

So what are they gonna do---10 more hours of Stern,O&A, and "Bubba"?

Oh yeah, I know.... Let's have more talk on the music channels...

Maybe its this: "Let's cut down on the playlists"

Or how about.. "Bruce Hornesby" ... Yeah we'll play him on the 60's channel!!!!

Maybe Greenstein/Zellner will say: "Rawdog"... Hell, we'll play a bunch of Bill Crosby or 3rd rate comedians who NOBODY has ever heard of. It doesn't cost us NEAR as much and those dumbasses who subscribe don't know the difference anyway".

Yep, BIG news coming......

Stayed tuned for the next shafting............

3 ways to listen....car...home...portable

ron and fez noon to three
xm202

"3 ways to listen" car....home...portable...

would be my guess just because of the "sale" aspect of it. at least they are doing something advertising wise...

Hopefully they're un-merging and we can all go back to the way we were, and forget this horrible thing ever happened.

Three speculations on the "3 ways to listen":

1) A iPhone app is coming. So, that would be "Satellite, online and iPhone".

2) Finally able to get SIRIUS & XM radios on either plan (i.e., cross band family radio plans). So, "SIRIUS, XM, or SIRIUS+XM."

3) Nothing. It's all hype.

Could be one of these two:

1. Free i-phone application for SIRIXM subscribers.

2. Discounted channel or radio package if you are a subsciber of both DTV and SIRIXM.

Just read dispatches from "Motley Fool" same old shit about tying in with cell phones...

Ain't got NOTHING to do with regular subscribers. Basically it has to do with people with their Blackberries.........

They're in a different world than I am in anyway so what's the point???

I ain't gonna go out and spend $200 for some damn phone and then pay even more for monthly service...

I don't know if the "suits" know it or not but the economy is imploding......

Oh yeah, I'm gonna go right out and buy $200 bucks worth of phone and then pay about $50 or more per month to get what I got for about $8/month for a 4 year subscription.

No wonder this economy is tanking.......

The inmates of the insane asylum are taking over

I can't think of anything they could do to extract more money from me than they're getting right now (i.e., two XM receivers, the ones factory installed in my cars. Once a five or six receiver subscriber, we're down to two that basically get news and talk only).

That blue kind of looks DirecTVish. Wonder if it has something to do with them.

I guess my e-mail got lost too, but then we know how sincere and dependable these people are communicating with their beloved subscribers! I've gotten as many e-mails from the NAB as I have from Sirius/XM. I wonder if they even know I'm alive - but they should; I promote satellite radio more than they ever will, and I'm not getting a goddamn penny for my efforts. I'm not bitter, though - I do it because I hate terrestrial radio... and I want satellite radio to reach the potential that has so far been denied due to Mel and Co.'s ineptness.

This "tease" better not be some bullshit line; not after the hell that all of us have been through the last couple of years. If they are yanking our collective chains, I am going to say a lot of very bad things about this companies management. It won't accomplish anything, because they don't listen to anybody. Wait... I think I know what it is! They are actually going to listen to the subscribers. YES !!!!!

Oh shit - I just woke up from an amazing dream. I dreamt that Sirius/XM management was going to listen to us. Son of a beee-otch.... I knew it wasn't real. These guys are such bungling fools, I can't even have a dream without them fucking it up!

Let us pray for more shock jockery-please just one original post. We all know you hate what satrad has become since the good-ol-days (way back in the year 2001).

Got it in an e-mail from XM. They can find me but they can't find my account when I try to log in...go figure. Seems to be just a promotion to lure in new listeners. Shouldn't affect those of us already signed up who don't need extra accounts or new radios.

Bundling with DirecTV, perhaps?

SteveO & others:

It truly hurts me to say this but I can't recommend to anyone to subscribe to SiriusXM
at the present time without informing them that the quality of programming has sadly declined.

Bottom line.

Let's see:

Nothing from Sirius/XM hit my email inbox. Perhaps they forgot to tell me (who helps pay their salaries) what's going on.

3 deals & 3 ways to listen...Hmmm. Maybe they will be available on those 3G phones...& they'll CHARGE EXTRA for it.

Mystery solved.

As an XM subscriber since Nov 2001, I must honestly say that the music programming has awfully deteriorated, with the same old top 10 songs repeated on the decades channel. They fired all the talented DJs and brought in overpaid jocks that need to go. Once my retention offer is up, GOOD BYE XM satellite radio!!!!!

I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS - BUT, COUNT ME IN! I LOVE ANYTHING THAT SIRIUS HAS TO OFFER AND I GUESS ABOUT ANOTHER 19 MILLION + ALSO LOVE SIRIUS!

i'm gonna say they are tryin to hype up the mirage

Word. I used to be one of the biggest Sat Radio whores around. Now, please. Sure its better than an ipod but thats not saying much. If the big news isnt Lee Abrams coming back i really dont care.

Why is it an XM only ad?
Must not be that good.

I've heard this type of crap on FM many times, and I'm sure everyone else on here has too, especially those of us old enough to have listened in the 70s and 80s:

"Tune in Monday morning for a major announcement."
"Something big is coming to WXYZ March 1."
Etc.

Usually it's some lame promotion or contest, or a format change that you won't like. In this case, probably a come on to somehow spend more money to listen to the same eviscerated channel lineup a different way.

Oh, and I didn't get the email either, but I do get their weekly programming promo email. Go figure.

Recondo72,

I should have used the past tense "have promoted", because, like you, I have become increasingly dissatisfied with the programming. It truely is sickening to witness the steady destruction of the content; they are making decisions that are illogical, irrational, and asinine. Everything that was promised pre merger has turned out to be a lie. The expectation of superior programming is the reason people subscribe to satellite radio in the first place. I really am starting to wonder if Mel and Co. have mental disorders of some type, because their behavior and decisions all seem to defy any logic whatsoever!

So yes, my enthusiasm is waning, and it truely hurts me to admit it also.

I'm not giving up on satellite radio just yet. I still believe that it's the best thing going outside of the internet, and better in some ways. And until they can get wifi or 3g outside of larger cities, it's the ONLY solution to mind-numbing terrestrial radio in those areas.

geez, recondo - sounds like you don't like your sat rad. why don't you just cancel and stop torturing yourself....?

jesus recondo, CANCEL YOUR SUB ALREADY!! geez. go back to terrestrial for god's sake. what are you waiting for??

Satellites, Internet, and Recorded-- same three they've had for a while. That's my guess.

In the more than four years that I have been investing in Sirius, there was only one time I was not disappointed. That was after the merger was approved after 18 months and we all know how that turned out. This company has just been one disappointment after another.

The radios should have been (still may be) interoperable. Subscribers should not have to buy a new radio to get the a la carte package. I don't understand why on any satellite radio they can block certain channels, but for some mysterious reason you have to buy a new radio to get the a la carte package. Isn't this package simply blocking access to other channels?

Sirius XM has the technology to offer the service for free, and bring in revenue by inserting advertisements into the streaming program. Why haven't they begun to use this technology?

All Sirius XM has done is alienate their customers, raise subscription prices, reduce programming and give away 40% of the company at the shareholder's expense. The only impressive thing Karmazin has done so far is to steal 40% (thus far...) of a publicly traded company out from under the shareholders.

Yeah, I'm not going to get too excited over this pending announcement.

It's amazing to me, how many people see the negative. Of all those posts, and only one positive. I see only good coming out of satellite. Hmm.

Wow...hardly any positive responses about that ad.

Not two weeks ago, all we heard was "Woe is me, we're going to go bankrupt, screw Mel, etc." and then, after Liberty stepped in, about 50/50 between criticism and praise.

But now it seems the pessimism has returned again.

Every one of you that sounds so dissatisfied should write e-mails or call the customer service number and demand to talk to a supervisor. Do whatever you can to ensure your voice is heard, other than posting anonymously on a blog site that I'm sure Sirius XM execs peruse at times, but not as religiously as many of us.

Or...the alternative. Cancel your service. Quit complaining. And to those of you who have canceled but still lurk around, why spend time on a blog site that caters to satellite radio when you don't even subscribe anymore?

I understand your frustrations, and believe me, I have like-minded criticisms as well (programming, too much talk on music channels, etc), but the temporary fix Liberty Media has provided...gives me a renewed sense of optimism, even if it's only fleeting.

I can't believe that people that hate the service so much would do so much research to find these articles...crazy.

Anyway, I've saved up since october to get the XMP3 so I might as well wait 3 more days to find out what the hype is, Im excited, can't wait to finally get Sirius XM portable (hell yeah!)

DJ MIX SHOWS RULE!

SIRIUS XM RULES!

3 ways to listen:
Sale?
Package: 1 car kit (1way)
2 home kit. (2nd way)
3 boombox (3rd way)

I'll tell you what I use a stilletto 2 in my bathroom with wifi and listening to ron and fez while taking a dump. :0(

maybe it's that they're bringing back "sirius disorder" channel, the best music channel ever to be lost in the switch...

I know what's coming folks,

SiriusXM is changing its name to SiriusFM.

The company realizes that it can no longer hide its true intent,
and instead of continuing to fool the public into thinking they are
offering something better than FM on its music channels, they decided
to finally admit they are FM radio.

3 Ways to Listen...

I think its a last minute grab for subs before they announce their Q4 08 numbers.

If reading here and elsewhere is any indication, a lot of people jumped ship over the last few months and SXM is trying to minimize the damage that information will have on their stock price.

SXM 4th Quarter results have to be out by Mar 11th.. Hold on to your hats longs!

"I do it because I hate terrestrial radio" -Steve O

Someone has some deep personal problems and issues.... I'll send Dr. Phil over.

As for "Something big is coming" It's me Oprah, the #2HNIC, I'm coming, I'm big and I'm gonna crush Melvin Alan "Mel" Karmazin. How dare he try and lower my contract $$$'s. F Melvin!

I think the big news could be about Boneyard turning into a Metallica channel to celebrate rock and roll hall of fame starting April.

You offer good suggestions, and ultimately if people aren't satisfied, canceling and moving on is the only viable option.

Where a lot of us are is in limbo. For XM subscribers, the service was drastically changed a little over three months ago. Being dissatisfied with this is not just an issue among people who post on internet forums - it's something I've heard and read all over the place. I did not just immediately cancel when they removed XM's programming and replaced it with Sirius's, for I felt that it was only fair to give it a chance.

The people who post messages about "whiners and complainers" are Sirius subscribers whose service was not gutted. Good for them. But their service will be just as dead as ours if large numbers of XM customers leave. You don't trash the product that more than half of your customers signed up for.

I cant believe the comments on here. The sirius xm bashing is hilarious. Let me explain this for you all. If the quality of XM and Sirius disenegrated another 90% from its peak "quality", apparently we already have "old timers" complaining about the snow, its still 100 better than terrestrial radio. I used to be able to at least endure terr. radio for small doses, now its not even possible. SATRD is the cheapest greatest entertainment dollar on the planet. Period. No close second.

The reason you idiots did not receive the email is that the company does not promote it's product to morons who only bash the company. I read your posts on siriusbuzz. Nothing but whining and crying. Screw Mel, F.. Sirius XM blah blah blah. Go away Recondo, Steve O and the rest of you a-holes!

Maybe it will be the best news of all -

Mel Karmazin and Jon Zellner are leaving .

Prediction: it's a DirecTV-SiriusXM bundle.

Full music lineup (and maybe some exclusive talk, for a fee?) to be made available on DirecTV, would be my guess. The changes last fall blew a huge hole in the D* music offering as well as causing massive consternation among sat-tv Pests; the Malone rescue offers the perfect opportunity to correct all that (and to possibly offer a Howard Stern audio package to compete with the VOD package cable-ops have).

I believe one of the changes has to do with the already noted fact that XM is upgrading the on-line listening experience on March 11. Since the site already supports a higher sample rate, this upgrade is likely something else. The most likely change IMO will be the ability to pause and playback when desired. Watch for new capabilites to rival Slacker radio. The new funding may even mean a merger of sorts. Atleast, I expect integration of the on-line service with some of the higher end portables, to implement more of a music on demand ability like Slacker. This will allow Sirius XM to expand the number of channels provided and provide the ala carte, via transfer to the portable like Slacker.

I think many of the bashers are either from Clearchannel or shorting the stock. Anyone can look at the retention rate and see SiriusXm will be fine. I love the service, I have it streamed throughout my whole house via Sirius premium internet radio, and my whole family has receivers in our cars. Short interest is down 43% last week on Sirius. Anyone still short should consider jumping on the long wagon.

such whining.

Exactly, Recondo72. I'm glad I'm not the only one.

I know, next week I will be calling them and canceling my subscription. Thank you Sirius, for ruining XM. That's what makes sense.

I'm sure former Sirius subscribers don't understand, since they were already used to Sirius' programming. I'm sure if I had Sirius first, I would have a different outlook, but after having xm for 6 years, I have seen the light.

I hope the big announcement isn't from the company, but from all these losers on this board....who somehow continue to complain about the service, yet they're still subscribing!

I'll say this again to those that chastise the complainers here....

We are staying. This is the only way we can vent and be heard.

This is the only way we can warn others that Sirius programming has
greatly diminished and that management does not care about the large
amount of complaints they have fielded in email and phone.

I would love to cancel Sirius, but honestly, as long as the company is
giving their product away at a cost substantially below what is advertised,
I will keep it for Opie and Anthony.

You see, Sirius knows people are unhappy. That's why they offer unhappy subscribers subscriptions at many dollars less than advertised. They know it's the only way to withstand a huge subscriber drop which would not fare well for their company.

Truly happy for those of you who love Sirius radio. However, there are
just as many of us (if not more) who think it's nothing more than glorified
FM programming.

I think the music has gotten better since the merger. Audiovisions used to have these corny announcers with oriental accents - way too much celtic flute music for me. Now, with Spa, I am getting far less talking, and they play Steve Roach and Robert Rich almost every night. Every station I listen to has improved since the merger. Of course, if your taste in music is so eccentric that you like listening to pre-World War II mariachi music, you will be disappointed by them dropping three Latino music stations. I love my sirius-xm and just hooked up another portable. My advice to the haters: cancel and get a Slacker. You can enjoy THEIR limited playlists and the constant need to refresh in a wi-fi hotspot and push favorite buttons. I'm happy to pay my money to have sirius-xm.

There is now a leak about a major change coming to XM this week. This will allow Sirius XM to expand the number of channels provided and provide the ala carte, via transfer to the portable like Slacker.

would be NICE if they finally offer a "second radio" discount for people that have a XM and Sirius account/radio... you know, now that they have merged and are ONE company and all....

I'd just like to let all the XM listeners know that the Sirius listeners sympathize with you. almost every XM channel may have changed to a Sirius one, but the Sirius ones kept their names only. Almost all Sirius channels have changed their content and DJs. How does that make any sense? Take two services that people like and totally change both of them? I have given up. I'm cancelling all service and going back to an MP3 player. At least there, inane DJs don't talk over half of the song.

Prediction: this will be a bundled offer with DirecTV.

Next week find out why XM makes more Sense?

Did they shit-can Mel? That would make the most sense. Dreams can come true... Douche-bag!

Maybe its home,car, and mobile.

Well said SteveO,NJronbo, & others.

Some of these Sirius "sheeple" just don't get it.

Other posters have the mindset that SiriusXM loves: "Keep giving me crap, I don't know the difference anyway and I'll pay for it. And by the way just like my Corporate mindcontrolers have instructed, If you don't like it go somewhere else".

Well, some are going and others will leave when a better product comes along. Which in all probability is what I will do in the not too distant future. The point that it is mainly the XM'ers who took the main brunt of the hit is a great one. Sure it was Sirius who swung the deal but there were a lot more of us XM subscribers who voted for which system we prefered with our pocketbooks and were hosed in the process. XM's subs greatly outnumbered Sirius' subs. The two systems are like oil & water. An idiot can see that.

It hurts me to admit that we all know that XM's management is really to blame for causing this unholy reunion but that is the reality. The action we take is the right one in my opinion. Keep holding their feet to the fire and raising hell and by all means canceling when we have had enough.

SatRad had such promise. Do you people who are defending the merged channels REALLY think it's better?? Have you really Listened to "Rawdog" or "Jamie Foxx"??? It's PITTIFUL!!!!

100 of a stiletto, big effin deal

"What other ways to listen do they mean? Radio, Internet, and... ?"

Butt plug, for those who need it coming and going.. no seriously.. I think the reason the stocks stay low is because the company needs to fully consolidate the programming package.. which is to say for the price of $12.99 you get it all.. everything from Howard's shlog to MLB and NFL on both platforms.. then offer less programming packages for less money of course.. like an all talk set or all music set or a your choice fifty set.. or a bare minimum ten channels for a buck a month... how liberating..

Yawn...a one week "non-event".

Big fat let down. It as if your employer hyped up some big surprise for you and you're thinking maybe a raise or a bonus, but then it turned out to be a .50 cent Big Mac coupon.

jmarkzat have you ever used slacker? I stream slacker on my iphone and the playlist is way deeper then Sirius. I never have to find a hot spot to sync with and I can skip songs I do not like. No inane chatter by Mojo Nixon. The country station actually playes country.

I have both slacker and Sirius and for music the difference is night and day. Not to mention I do not need stupid space man headphones to listen to slaccker when i walk the dogs like I do with the S2.

It seems the offer was slightly different on the XM side from the Sirius side, as my XM email was for an XMp3 unit for $100 off.

Also, even though the disclaimer at the bottom said the Grace was part of the promotion, the graphical part of the email didn't actually mention it!

i say it's something dumb like 3 ways to listen "home, car and internet." at a great price

Sirius XM = FM with no commercials... thats why we complain, you like it or not.

It does not matter whats the offer its going to be if they dont make any changes in the programming... nothing good is coming.

frankie,

geez Jesus geezy jeepers frankie - did it ever occur to you that some of us do not want to settle for an inferior product, especially when we were PROMISED something unique and dramatically better than the crap we left behind. Thank god there are dissenters out there that hold these management assholes accountable for their actions; if not for them, guys like you would turn on Sirius/XM and be listening to Britney Spears marathon weekends and Neil Diamond retrospectives and nothing else. I refuse to SETTLE for this kind of bullshit, and it's a slap in the face to all the subscribers that they are now getting less for their dollar than before, especially since the merger. I haven't seen the price go down - have you? Anybody who accepts getting fleeced by Mel and Co. is a cowering panzy as far as I'm concerned.

It has nothing to do with not likeing satellite radio, you simpleton. Don't you get it? It means that some of us, like Recondo72, care so much about the service that when they see it being fucked with, we have the balls and moxie to voice our displeasure. Somebody has to hold mangement to a high standard, otherwise they will do what everyone else does to you, frankie, every day of your life; treat you like shit, and rip you off like you are their bitch. We are paying these bastards, frankie! They are supposed to be OUR BITCHES!!!

Don't complain about the people who are looking out for your best interest - complain to the people who are fucking you over.... while you gladly accept it and defend their despicable behavior. We are on your side, frankie. You are just too naive to understand it.

Oprah,

If anybody has any issues, it's you. You are a fat, disgusting, ugly, smelly, Travis the Chimp looking, yo yo dieting, male genital deflating. no sex appeal, opportunistic whore that preys on the stupid, lazy, fat ass housewives that worship your incredibly bulbous ass. Don't bother sending DR. Phil over to see me, because I will kick his phony, country bumpkin quack ass all the way back to whatever hayseed town he slithered out of.

There is only one thing I hate more than terrestrial radio, and that would be you, Oprah. The mere site of you makes me want to vomit. You look like a cross between Mike Tyson and King Kong. You belong in a cage, you heinous sub human piece of excrement.

Sources close to Sirius XM Radio Inc. say that the company has been in development of an official iPhone App, and the app is currently in beta, Orbitcast has learned.

Back in June, XM pre-announced that an iPhone App was in development using the XM Radio Mobile service.

But all indications show that this new app is a separate effort (and the XM effort could have stalled amid the merger).

According to the Orbitcast source, this new iPhone App will be available for free and wouldn't stream any special "mobile" service - rather it will stream the regular Sirius or XM internet content to iPhone and iTouch users.

Though a scheduled release date wasn't specified, Orbitcast also learned that the app is currently in Beta, according to these sources.

Additionally, the iPhone streaming will not cost any extra to subscribers aside from the price increases already set to take effect this month. Any Sirius or XM users paying for internet service will have access to the iPhone app, for free.

Developing...

still sirius,

If you don't like reading about complaints and comments from disgruntled subscribers, then what the fuck are you doing logging on to this and other sat rad sites? Are you oblivious to the shit that is going on, or are you even more brain dead than your last post made perfectly clear? You and the other idiots who whine about the "complainers" are just like the morons who think that if you are against the war, then you don't support the troops. Don't hate the player... hate the game. There is a reason that subscribers are pissed off; why don't you take a few minutes and consider the situation that is causing them to be so annoyed. The real question is... why would somebody NOT be annoyed, and NOT be complaining!?

You and your merry band of self-righteous douche bags can keep your mouths shut while Sirius/XM sodomizes your ignorant asses. Why would you mind it - everything is just perfect in your safe haven of stupidity. I, for one, will not sit idly by as the product and service and subscribers are treated with so little respect. Go ahead, settle for shit, because if you do, that is exactly what you are going to get. Why don't you understand that you deserve much more than what this company is giving you at this time? If you accept the programming that management is currently making available, then it is you who is the asshole.

I am very interested in utilizing "Slacker" as an alternative to SiriusXM. I can access it on my home computer and the comedy is far SUPERIOR to what SiriusXM offers in its present form.

I don't have an iPhone just a basic cell phone. I don't have an iPod/MP3 either. Prior to the debacle that SiriusXM has become, I never felt the need to have anything else but since the merger and the sorry state of programming all bets are off.

2 Questions:
1. Since I don't have an iPhone is there any other way I can access "Slacker" if I'm in my vehicle and traveling on the interstate? What reception can I expect and what device will I need. I do not want to spend $200 for another cell phone. How much will it cost me in minutes if I have 420 minutes per month and I spend approximately 6 hours/day like I do with SatRad?

2. Downloading at home: How long will it take me to download about 6 hours of entertainment from "Slacker"? I know the premium service is ~$5/month which ain't too bad. Paying an average $8/month for my multi-year service which ends next year and am planning not to resubscribe to SiriusXM.

Any feedback from "Slacker" users will be appreciated.

SteveO: Keep Rockin' Brother!!!!!

SatRad: Why oh Why, have you let me down?

Slacker makes a portable device that retails for $200, I don't know what kind of reception it gives though since I've never owned it. I have no clue about your second question.

Nothing sent to Canadian subscribers yet.

http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/08/sirius-xm-rolls-out-interoperable-mirge-satellite-radio/

Sirius XM has already merged some of its channels and, as expected, it's now taken advantage of CES to roll out its very first interoperable satellite radio: the MiRGE (clever, Sirius XM, clever). In addition to letting you switch between Sirius and XM signals with ease, this radio will display three other channels as you view your current channel, and let you pause and rewind up to 60 minutes of live programming, among other standard features. What's more, XM Sirius has also rolled out a new "Sirius Everything plus XM Everything" package to go along with the radio, which will run you $19.99 a month and seemingly give you everything you'd get by subscribing to the two separate services. Look for the radio to be available early this spring for $250.

Thanks for pointing that out. I had assumed the Sirius channels were not changed, or at least not much.

I find it interesting to see the currently-in-vogue term "haters" used repeatedly to describe people who have voiced disagreements with the post-merger changes. I guess if you don't blithely accept whatever takes place, that means you're a hater. So, by logical conclusion, it must require that a person be a hater to oppose a war or a social injustice.

Calling someone a name normally indicates that you don't have any reasonable way to refute what they say, so you resort to a personal attack.

With Slacker, you don't deal with "reception". The content on Slacker is not live... Instead, you connect the portable player to your home computer, or be within range of WiFi, to download the content to the player. I have a Slacker portable and think it's a fine idea. It's nice to have that randomness of not knowing what's coming up next. But, it has the same "lonely" feeling as an iPod/MP3 player - songs fade all the way out, and there are long pauses in between the songs. (If that stuff even matters to you.)

I agree with you. Slacker is a worthwhile service, but it's not radio.
