XM and Sirius published an advertisement in Communications Daily, The Hill, The Politico and Roll Call today publicizing the recent survey that found a majority of voters support the merger of the two companies.
The text of the advertisement reads:
Finally, Democrats and Republicans agree on something.70%* are in favor of A La Carte and Best of Both programming packages that would be offered in a XM-SIRIUS merger.
In fact, voters agree that the merger is in the public interest by a margin of more than 2 to 1. But it's not just Republicans and Democrats who agree. It's every segment of the population. People of all ages. People who live in the country and the city. People of all races.
Here's the actual ad:

(The decision for this merger really just can't come soon enough...)
UPDATE: The image and text I posted was actually the wrong version of the ad. I've updated the post and the image removing the "Everyone thinks it's a good idea" copy which was never run in any of the publications above. Sorry for the misunderstanding...

"Everyone thinks it's a good idea".
No they don't. The pro merger rehtoric is just as bad as the NAB's bullshit.
Orbitacst is clearly pro merger, but to call the NAB on their shit, and not calL Siri-XM on theirs is hypocracy.
HYPOCRITES!!!!
shut up no one.
those who are for the merger are more concerned with the long-term viability and competitiveness of SatRad with Terr(ible)Rad and AychDeeRad in the *actual* marketplace than they are concerned with whatever skewed ideals or hollow principals most of the anti-SatRad contingent absorbed between poptart bites in their 100 level economics class at 7am.
it comes down to cheering for two choices:
1) you can choose to cheer for a divided SatRad medium that will be bought out within a year by Clear Channel or CBS or whichever "traditional" broadcast company you are CURRENTLY WILLING TO PAY MONEY NOT TO HAVE TO LISTEN TO ANYMORE, or
2) you can choose to cheer for a unified SatRad medium that will at least stand a fighting chance against such aforementioned bastards.
there's too much poptart economics going around about this whole thing...its a joke. this is a capitalist economy, where market discrepencies are played out on the market and not by the will, force, and influence of a misguided and errently clairvoyant government. why do the anti-SatRadders insist on having the government control business and business decisions instead of the capitalist market?
capitalists will see that the government does not intervene, allows business to play out, and allows the marketplace to determine its fate.
communists can't wait to see government intervene and tell business what they can and can't do, and when and where they can do it.
i am for the merger because i'm a capitalist, free-market, liberty-loving american.
being for the merger means being for america.
go away, communist scum.
lol
Wow. That's a new take on this merger...
Shut up..... LOL
There's a well organized argument.
Spout off some more rhetorical stoicism. To be against the merger is to be a communist?
Why don't you just tell me that if I don't support the merger, the terrorists win.
Jackass...
This just in.... 4 out of 5 denitst recommended Trident gum, for their patients that chew gum!!
If this merger is not approved my monthly bill will most likely go up.
It must. If not for spite then just to achieve profitability.
With the merger at least we know that it'll stay put at least a year or two.
Plus I do want to be able to select programming.
I am all for it.
Over 70% want the merger. Facts are facts and communists, terrorist and No one can spin that. The merger is good; Communists, Terrorist and No one are bad.
>>Shut up..... LOL
There's a well organized argument.
it was well organized, and right to the point. what it lacked, however, was being "well thought out"...although in the context of this particular commenting thread, you've got to agree that i was playing well above the rim given what was said before me.
yes, to be against the merger, or to be for any instance of government interceding in free-market capitalism simply because it can or because it feels that its their job to, is to be a communist.
and for the record, yes, the terrorists do win if the merger is stopped. they hate free-market capitalism too.
Joseph Stalin, Kim Jong-il, Vlady Putin, Pol Pot, Hugo Chavez, Osama bin Laden, David Rehr...they're all against the merger (or would be, at least). thats some great company...
Actually, the terroriosts would allow the merger so they have one government controlled entiity. This isn't a case of free markets. Look at all the concessions XM/Sirius is making to the government to earn the right to merge.
I hope the merger takes place; I own lots of stock in both companies - - I hate being honest - Try it somethimes you dirtbags.. hahahahhaa
