Slacker's Personal Radio Service is now available on Sony's Bravia TVs with Internet Link Service. The Slacker service is free - as usual - and gives listeners access to all of their favorite genre stations (including Slacker's new Holiday stations) and custom stations.
Slacker's service also allows users to personalize choice across the web, Bravia Internet Video Link, Slacker G2 or soon on the BlackBerry, ensuring that your favorite artists and ratings follow you to whatever device you're using.
The Bravia Internet Video Link Module, which attaches to the back of a compatible Sony Bravia TV, streams on-demand video entertainment (via Amazon Video On Demand; YouTube; Dailymotion, etc.) and a variety of other high- definition and standard-definition content not found on network or cable/satellite TV. The module connects to the Internet via an existing broadband Ethernet connection and streams content, much of which is available at no additional charge.
The Bravia Internet Video Link Module runs for about $300 MSRP.

This is really amazing. I don't mean that in a sarcastic or flippant way. Slacker is really taking the media world by storm. I love my handheld portable device, especially the ability to custom create a station when I want it.
FOr me the 25 channel version is more than I need - I just can't figure out how they make money. There hasn't been a commercial on the portable device since I got it a month ago.
Look over your shoulder sat rad and i-pod. You're about to be left in the dust.
Slacker is looking to be "delivery agnostic" and they're doing a good job of that.
I'm also writing up a Slacker G2 long-term review that I'll be posting shortly. I have to agree, the 25 channel version of the G2 is great and more than enough for most people. But my review isn't all glowing compliments. Stay tuned, I'm planning on finishing it for this week.
Just wondering how tactile the Slacker units are...I've been considering checking it out, but don't want to drop money on it if it's not useable by a blind person. I looked at the website, and the site itself seems to work okay with my screenreader...Haven't taken an indepth look, registered, or started trying to create custom stations or anything, but we'll see how it goes.
I'm still keeping my XM subs, byt slacker might be an interesting addition to the music arsenal.
On a sidenote, I will say the sound quality issues seem to be improving a little bit. Hair Nation hasn't sounded like it was coming from underwater the last couple days, so that gives me some hope. :)
Seems that iPhone app can't be very far behind if they're already introducing it for the Blackberry. And if that XM/Sirius app doesn't go the way of Duke Nukem forever, that might be worth looking into as well.
I recently bought the slacker g2 couple days ago and i couldn't get it to work at all. It wouldn't connect so i took it back to best buy.
Slacker is great for pop music but classical and opera fans are left wanting. Click the classical station on Slacker and see the crap you get. As for opera, forget a full-length opera. Opera fans don't want "tracks" or "singles" to make up a playlist. That's why Slacker and Pandora are not currently viable options for us. I realize we opera fans are a small minority of music fans but that is why Vox on XM was so great. Opera and choral works were presented properly. The Met channel is fine but the source material is limited. It's a sad loss.
I love it all all these Internet services are coming to TV. I just got a Blu-ray player that I can hook up to the Internet, and access all of Netflix's instant watch catalog. Saved me many a boring night. I can watch every episode of 30 Rock & The Office in great quality, without paying the thirty bucks to buy it.
But I'm certainly getting the G2 soon... hopefully by month's end.
Wes. I am a visually impaired computer user and have not had much luck using the Slacker Web page player with my screen reader (JAWS). What do I need to do in order to access the Slacker page and all the web player controls and features? Thanks
What does slacker have to do with satellite radio?
I would like to hear more about the BD player that hooks to Netflix instant watch catalog. I have been thinking about getting an XBOX 360 because it can do the HD streaming through netflix, but I might prefer the bluray.
have you contacted slacker support
there email is support@slacker.com
I've had XM since 12/2001. The last three weeks, I've listened to nothing but Slacker. I've created some amazing stations (very easily) and LOVE this service. The SQ is much better than XM or Sirius; the choices are endless; and the ability to customize your own stations is fantastic. The G2 unit is very nice -- not perfect, but does a great job. Following the channel "merger" at XM, I have to say that I'm going to cancel 2 of my 4 subs.
Give Slacker a try....very, very cool...
I have jumped onto the Slacker wagon as well. Was just too disappointed w/ the channel merge on the XM Side. Only have 1 XM sub but have had it for about 5 years. It was great while it lasted.
Slacker is great. I have an iphone and don't use it for music because I personally dont want to to listen to stuff I have downloaded.
I'd be willing to go even go back to FM if the long 20 minute commercial breaks were removed. I just want a place where I can get lots of music at a decent price w/ no commercials.
Got the slacker...Wish I hadn't. Too much effort for what little you get in the way of content. Even XMs merge-y lineup sounds better cared for...even sans 100 unlucky programmers.
Holding on to the sat for now at least.
