The Stern Tapes Have Arrived (just in time for Father's Day)

A reader sent in this full-page ad which ran in today's New York Daily News. Great promotion by Sirius, and the New York market is a no-brainer.

Check it out after the jump...

Stern Tapes Ad

Two interesting points of note:

  1. It says the tapes have arrived in time for Father's Day - is this an indication of when they'll start broadcasting the 'Classic Stern' audio? Or just a reminder that Father's Day is coming and your husband is a Stern fan and you should really buy him a Sirius radio?
  2. The online-streaming says "coming soon" - instead of stating Father's Day. Generally that's just good ol' marketing verbiage to protect from missing a date, but the Father's Day deadline is looming.
Oh the speculation! Either way, it's a cool ad for Sirius to run and it's the perfect audience to target it to. If anyone would be a fan of "Classic Stern" - it would be New Yorkers reading the Daily News.
Thanks John for sending this in!

Cool ad. Short. Sweet. To the point.

Now I wish Sirius would start streaming, dammit!!

Wow, rebroadcasting 10 years worth of subpar radio. Can't wait.

Seriously. It's literally the only way I can listen at work...

Add me to the list of people who still don't understand why having old material is so great...

"I dink so" Crackhead Bob
"WooooooHoooooo after news of ratings
"Please why, why wont someone give me a chance."

Fans seem to like it.

doesnt the hack gonna rerecord everything since hes gonna have to pay jackie or anyone else that was on the show to play these? finally something coming out of sirius that might actually be funny, even thought its probably about 10 years old clips

Because the old matieral is great. There are so many places that stern was never broadcast, and now anyone in the nation can hear. The usual response around my area is "I've only seen some of his show on E" because it was never available to them.

"WooooooHoooooo after news of ratings"

I believe that's Slim Pickens from Dr. Strangelove. He screamed that as he rode an H-Bomb into Russia.

And I hope Howard plays alot of the pre-1994 shows. The rest has been available via torrents for years. I'd love to hear Billy West as Marge Schott again...

same here, Ryan.

Little Jimmy killed on Leno last night!!!

Jimmy rules.
