Timex XM Alarm Clock Radio on Woot!

Timex XM Alarm ClockStill need to hook up your dorm room with a good alarm clock? Check out the Timex XM Alarm Clock Radio available on Woot! for a meager $49.99.

Includes a line-in for your iPod, and a line-out for additional speakers (to ensure you wake up for that Friday-morning class).

The Timex XM-Ready Alarm Clock (TMX1A) also comes with an XM CNP-100 Connect-and-Play Antenna (which normally ranges from $40-$50 by itself), plus a one-year warranty thrown in for good measure. All you need is an XM sub, and you're good to go.

(Tip to parents: big, loud, alarm clocks - preferrably with XMLM set as a preset - are a necessity in college.)

Thanks Mike!

I bought one late last night because it's the lowest price I've seen on the TMX1 alone. I only wish it came with the CNP-2000H Mini Tuner dock instead of the CNP-1000 (Woot missed a zero.)

I just bought one, but on the WOOT description they are practically telling you to not give it as a gift, unless you through in a pile of cash for the subscription, and that you can use it for a nice Alarm Clock...WTF? O well, also they say that there is 150 Channels, not 170..Oh well anyways, I just bought one regardless..now....Who can I give it to as a gift?

Beware! All the user reviews I've seen says the wake to XM feature is a no go. The CNP1000 loses it's signal and the alarm defaults back to buzzer.

Related question. Anyone know if you use a CNP1000 with the Delphi wireless distribution system if you can then have multiple radios in house connected via one account? This could be a solution for the alarm clock since the Delphi keeps the CNP1000 powered and maintains a constant satellite connection.

I don't understand these low end radios. You'll have paid more for the subscription in a few months than you did on this piece of featureless junk. The XM mini-tuner made this sort of thing reasonable, but why would I pay for additional subscriptions for pieces of junk like this? Or worse still, who would accept a tin-panging tiny radio, immobile unit like this as their primary device?

If you've got enough money to have multiple subscriptions, get something better to listen on.

Sold. I'll be hooking up my mini tuner dock instead of using the C&P antenna. I'll use this at work if the Wake to XM feature doesn't work.

This is correct. I have one and it does the same thing. You have to get the CNP2 with the mini tuner to get the wake up to xm feature to work.

The sound quality isnt too bad on it. Big display thats easy to see at night.
