uXM: Listen to XM on the iPhone

| 12 Comments | No TrackBacks
uXMThe same folks who made uSirius, a Sirius client for jailbroken iPhones, have returned with a version for XM - appropriately named uXM.

Essentially the same concept as uSirius, uXM allows your iPhone or iPod Touch to tune into XM Radio Online as long as you have firmware version 1.1.4.

There's still a few kinks that need to be worked out (some channel logos are not loading and the stream sometimes drops after 30 minutes), but it'll definitely get you through until July 11th when XM is expected to release an official iPhone application in the Apple App Store.

Shoot that shit to the sky.

I'm using this app on my iPhone and it is running just fine on both wifi and the slower EDGE network.

I also experienced the dropping of the stream, but for me this was after an hour's use. At first i thought this was a limitation of the software until I realized that I had set my mail app to automatically check for mail every hour.

Once I set the mail app to manually check for mail, the uXM stream ran uninterrupted for hours.

Woo... FINALLY something that I can use to listen to XM at job #2!! I'll be bringing my AT&T USB modem and WiFi travel router, just to make sure that I get enough speed for hours of musical enjoyment! :) And thanks for the tip about the cutting out being related to mail checking... I've temporarily set Mail to manual to prevent any disruptions... too bad it doesn't work in the background!

Would this green stuff under my balls be considered "The Virus"?

Why would some one want to pay for xm or sirius when there are thousands of better choices of free streaming internet radio? App's like uxm and uSirius are for those who don't know any better than to waste money on a fleeting industry who's 15 minutes of fame are just about used up.

Programs like uXM, uSirius and those like it are for internet amateurs. Those showing naiveté who don't know any better than to waste money. Internet Radio is 100x better, is the future and is available for free. uXM, uSirius are programs which dumbs down the iPhone for amateurs.

odd. I can't seem to find howard on flytunes.fm iradio.com or musicradio.com.
I must be an internet amateur showing my naiveté.

I can't seem to find the internet radio in my car. Op-, there's the XM tuner, though.
