Former Mexican President Vicente Fox was at the XM Satellite Radio studios yesterday afternoon taping an interview with Bob Edwards promoting his new book, "Revolution of Hope."
During the interview, Fox said the 700-mile wall that Congress authorized to be built between the two countries "is not up to the democratic standards of this great nation. It's not up to the ideals of the Founding Fathers." He encouraged the US government to use the billions of dollars that would go into the wall, which in his opinion would end up being built by Mexicans, and put it into programs that would invest in Mexico and its people.
The Fox interview is scheduled to run on "The Bob Edwards Show" next Tuesday, October 16th (which just happens to be my birthday) from 8-9am ET on XM Public Radio (ch 133).
In "Revolution of Hope," President Fox outlines a new vision of hope for the future of the Americas. He speaks out forcefully on hot global topics like immigration, the war in Iraq, racism, globalization, the role of the United Nations, free trade, religion, gender equity, indigenous rights and the moral imperative to heal the global divide between rich and poor nations.

Yeah, I heard "Maximo Leader" on NPR last week. No one challenges him on his comment that Mexicans do work "even Black people won't do."
A piece of racist crap.
If the crowning achievement of your culture is the cheesey gordita crunch should you really be speaking on Bob Edwards?
Ironically, the "cheesey gordita crunch" is squarely a crowning achievement of American popular (blobular?) culture. ;-)
Since this happened after his Larry King interview where he said that the FTAA was to include a common currency, was that asked about? (Note that the U.S. would be covered under the FTAA). What about the NAU? Was that asked about? If not, why not?
I'm sorry let me rephase my earlier statement. If the crowning achievement of your culture is the "chalupa with extra sour cream" should you really be speaking on Bob Edwards?
I invented faggoty moustaches
As a Sirius subscriber, that's one interview and show I would have loved to hear; Also, would love to be able to receive The Bob Edwards Show via my receiver; That's why I hope the merger goes-through...b/c the Bob Edwards Show is only one of many shows I would enjoy over at XM!
Just listened to the interview. Fox is obviously pro-Mexico, but he does make a lot of points.
And Max, I think something was lost in his comment about doing work even black people won't do. What's worse, that he said what he said (even if taken out of context)? Or that people from foreign countries see America that way? Think about what it says about America on a global scale when our closest foreign leader believes that our society is still racially segregated.
We've come a long way on racial issues in this country but we've still got a long way to go.
