XpressR

XM has officially taken the wraps off the Audiovox XpressR and XpressEZ receivers.

Of course, we've already known all about them for some time now (read my XpressEZ review here), but now there's a demo video out. And we love demo videos, so g'head and watch it for yourself here (sorry, can't embed the video right now... YouTube isn't working for me).

I'm still waiting for more devices which support the Mini Tuner. Like the car adapter is supposed to be released "Early 2007" I think we're getting into late 2007 now.

That girls butt is as big as a 1st gen SIRIUS PNP.

Shouldn't there be an effort to mass produce an interoperable reciever?

An interoperable that looks like the pic shown above and functions as noted in the article would certainly attract the average consumer.

I don't see any need for one yet. Then again, I don't see why there should be much of an effort to design anything new until the merger is final, or more likely, shot down.

"I don't see why there should be much of an effort to design anything new until the merger is final, or more likely, shot down."

It seems as though XM is going about business as usual, yet they're trying like hell to go through with the merger.

If XM wants to merge with sirius so bad (which is senseless), they should concentrate their efforts on making interoperable/dual-band receivers that way the product is there should the merger happen.

espnjason, why on earth would XM invest $ in an interpolable reciever just to have the merger shot down and the cash went to waste. If the merger happens the new unit will still work, so theres no risk. If the merger fails then XM will be stuck with a unit that has a bunch of expensive technology sitting in it doing noting.

Seems logical to me.

Both XM and Sirius have money devoted to interoperability. They put it in a company run by both for the purpose of creating radios that receive both signals.

Other then that, new radios freshen up retail and if someone were to notice then they might want to pick it up since they had been thinking about it previously. Thats one reason among others.

Why would I want my XM receiver interoperable so I can listen to Sirius' horrible Top 40 rotation?

Is Ryan dead or is there just no new satrad news? Unlike him to go 2 days without posting anything new unless its a weekend.
