Visteon HD Jump: HD Radio's Answer to the Plug & Play (Look out Sat Rad!)

Introducing HD Radio's answer to the plug-and-play radio, the Visteon HD Jump. With HD Radio OEM units running a cool 500-clams, a cheaper add-on solution is necessary (because, y'know, market demand is so high). So the HD Jump is here to supply the yearning masses for all their HD Radio needs.
Now this is state-of-the-art technology here folks. The HD Jump offers a full spectrum of features, including "real-time" song title, artist and album information (amazing!) plus the HD Jump has multicasting capabilities (if you can find one).
Note the gorgeous, and modern-looking, monochromatic display. The six preset buttons allow you to store up to 18 different stations (if you can find them). I liken the large tactile control knob to that of the iPod - just spin it and select what station you want to listen to!
The HD Jump features an FM modulator, so you can interface with your regular car or home radio. Sure, you'll be going from "crystal-clear" HD digital radio back to analog FM radio, but it's worth it to get all that compelling content.
The thin profile is quite attractive and would hardly be noticeable on your dashboard. With the built-in AUX jack so you can plug in your iPod, the HD Jump does it all!
The HD Jump is expected to retail for only $200, and should be available this Spring. Can't wait!

Listen to all of these NEW commercials! Awesome!

whats that? an FM modulator? Where the NAB and NPR? If they do not complain about it at all they prove their bias.

one more thought.. Vistion? isn't that Ford? My only concern with this is that although this one is a DUD. Vistion and Ford will roll out HD radio eventually and It could go Standard OEM install. Sat Rad must be fully 100% factory install before HD radio. If its the other way around ... Do not think the NAB/CBS/Westwood one/Clear Channel and the rest have not noticed how and why Sat Rad is doing pretty good. I had the unfourtunate event of a 6 hour drive without sat Rad and the local statoins have improved! I still had to change channels 30 o more times on a drive from NJ to Pittsburgh PA. But, my point is that although still the terestrial product .. it has improved slightly. Now they are pushing HD and I B Equity is in bed with Ford and Vistion is a ford electronics supplier... well... got my attention. I am not worried at this point.. It just got my attention.

That honestly looks like it came out of a toddler's toy box. Wow.

And I thought the first sat radio PNP units were big!! "CD quality" reduced to analog FM quality -- sounds great!
That must be the ugliest PHP unit I have ever seen. You can pick it up on woot.com for $4.99 a month after release!

C'mon people... this is the future! Nothing gives terrestrial radio a nice updated brand image like a good piece of technology.
And it's ONLY $200
jeff: Yes, it's the same Visteon. And they've just signed a distribution agreement with AGT... the same AGT from the XM Sportscaster. Quite an incestuous bunch.

Looks like whatever station's supplying that info needs to hire a new 17-year-old-part-timer to do track info.
"How to Save a Live"???
and on the 2nd photo, I'm assuming there isn't a song I've been missing called "Have Yo"??

Fuck guys! I'm pyched about this new HD Radio! Does any body know where I can pre-order one today? Any body, any body?

So, in order to satisfy the NAB and the RIAA, it won't be possible to record audio on this or any future HD Radio device, right?

Regarding the plug and play HD radio, I think it will actually help satrad by bringing more folks to the area of the store, only to purchase satrad after looking at the options.
Also, am I the only one who does not like the similarity in logo to that of XM???

My Grandpa had something that looked like that in his boat. I think that he used it to find fish.

If XM and Sirius have one hair on their collective balls, they'll immediately look into whether this thing's FM transmitter is legal.
Also, wouldn't you LOVE to see a survery about what percentage of the audience has ever heard of HD radio? I'm betting it doesn't exceed 5%.

Can't wait to buy this clunky box! My, it is very marvelous and will beat out Sirius and XM in listenership combined!

1. no subscription fee
2. Yes I can find the 3 stations that are broadcasting HD signal in my area.
3. Since Sirius and XM knew they were violating the FCC, it'd be a bit hypocritical of them to call someone else on it.
4. Local programming anyone? Odd that Sirius thinks that the traffic report in a city in another state is my 'Local traffic'.
5. As far as 'it uses an FM signal' HD TV is actually transmitted on an AM signal... I don't hear people complaining about it.....
Of course, you know what one person's oppinion is worth, especially on an 'All Things Not Part 15 Compliant' site.
Enjoy!

free commercials does not make "free" worth it.
2. Yes I can find the 3 stations that are broadcasting HD signal in my area.
Yipee!!! 3 commercial filled stations!!!
3. Since Sirius and XM knew they were violating the FCC, it'd be a bit hypocritical of them to call someone else on it.
no, it would be fair game.
4. Local programming anyone? Odd that Sirius thinks that the traffic report in a city in another state is my 'Local traffic'.
who cares about local anything, I watch NBC, CBS, and ABC every night, no local content, and I couldn't care less.
5. As far as 'it uses an FM signal' HD TV is actually transmitted on an AM signal... I don't hear people complaining about it.....
You don't understand, this POC is taking a digital signal, then retransmitting it via analog to your old analog car stereo. At that point, why not just listen to analog FM.

I have it in my vehicle now!
I am listening to comercial free music!
It sounds great!

It's not perfect but neither is satellite radio. This sounds better and is free. It's funny that now we even complain about changing radio channels to many times on a long trip. Have another cheesburger, overpay for another frappacino and sit back and get fatter. Does satellite keep you from changing channels? No wonder other countries hate us so much. get satellite for your Hummer or honda minivan...I'll take HD radio...I'm willing to miss out on multiple commercial free sports channels.

Seriously,I installed a Dual HD ($149 @Crutchfield) in my car and have a Radiosophy unit (with cheapo rabbit ears antenna) plugged into my compact bedroom system, and I LOVE them. I am in metro Los Angeles and get good reception and lots of stations from easy listening to classical to oldies.
Yes, some stations play commercials but most do not, at least so far.
And the sound quality is all they say it is.
