That doesn't really explain why Sirius XM Radio Inc. didn't know about this before showing this preview of the App to investors, with Howard 100 clearly highlighted.

it amazes me that everyone immediately assumes this is about money from Stern's end... and he has a contract with the inDemand platform that he is merely trying to honor.
it really does not matter whether it makes sense to us but it apparently seems to be a problem that Howard even spoke about yesterday... I am sure if there is a way to allow his fans to listen then it will happen, but it is comical for everyone to immediately assume this is about money and Stern is in the wrong.

My guess is that Howard's contract provides that his show cannot be streamed over the net or to cell phones or other portables (unless they are Sirius, now Sirus XM, portable receivers) without a mutual meeting of the minds as to the proper compensation. Remember, when he signed the contract in 2004/2005 there was no iPhone, so there must be an exclusion for streaming to phones. He wants something in order for Sirius to release it to the iPhone app...I think he will get something for it...what's more debt, right?

Are you guys crazy? I've been listening to Stern for the last 6 weeks on my Iphone using the iphone app "Pocket Tunes". It emulates a "Flash" enviornment and allows access to the sirius web portal. App cost is $10.00. Works great!

I personally feel I still get value out of the service. My intention of paying for Sirius XM is to stop me from buying a $13 CD, or multiples. I only have purchased one CD in the past 6 months (I don't download music), and that is directly because Sirius XM offers new and relevant content I can listen to instead.
Sure, the price is going up and I'll re-evaluate. But these nay-sayers are just too much for me. It's not THAT bad.
I just bought an HD radio...say what you will, but satellite radio is still a far better service.
