Fans aren't only concerned with Opie & Anthony and Howard Stern renewing their contracts with Sirius XM Radio Inc., but now rumors are heating up that Bubba The Love Sponge might be leaving satellite radio in favor of internet radio.
Like Stern, Bubba The Love Sponge's contract also ends in December, and Bubba is reportedly in talks with free internet radio service Radioio.
Radio-Info reports that Bubba could be bolting from the satellite radio provider in favor of the 10-year old internet radio service.
Radioio isn't denying the rumor either.
Indeed, Radioio consultant Mike Roe told Audio4Cast, "Any one who knows anything at all about broadcasting knows that the internet is the future of radio. Period."
"So, what are the odds that a Stern or a Bubba doesn't know that?" Roe added. "It isn't really a question of whether or not these personalities will (eventually) come to internet radio, but when."
Bubba is currently heard on Howard 101 (Sirius, XM channel 101) as well as several terrestrial radio stations in Florida and in Dayton, Ohio.
With all these contracts coming up for renewal at around the same time, do you think Sirius XM will offer a compelling enough incentive to retain their "shock jock" roster?

He may not leave SiriusXM but he will be on the RadioIO service starting January 11th. Guaranteed
Howard, Bubba, O and A, Ferrell and Jason Ellis are Sirius' roster of real talk show hosts. They all know if they want to get heard AND paid sirius is the place to be. It is a pia to try and listen to live streaming internet radio. And a bigger pain to not hear it live, and have to listen a day or 2 later. All of the before mentioned names know if they want to stay relevant stick with sirius. Internet may be growing but honestly radioio has been around 10 yrs, what have they done in the game? Nothing. Anyone can start an internet streaming site. Carolla said a long time ago podcasts don't pay. Sirius is the way to go
Sirius/XM has spent too much money in other areas to be able to afford to pay Howard, Bubba, and O&A.
It's obvious that Bubba is management's least favorite of the group. I doubt Sirius has given him any serious offers to stay if any at all. I think Bubba has basically checked out already and is planning his next step. Can't say I blame him...
I say bring on the Podcast Willy! With a podcast I can listen to the entire show not just what I hear on the drive home. And it wouldn't be the replayed FM show that Sirius gives Mon - Thursday.
I hope all three leave so I can finally cancel my Sirius sub once and for all!
(On the assumption they all go to places I can get them more easily!!)
Internet Radio in the car. Great so listening to them will actually cost more. Great. Ok I might have to pay $6.00 to pay the broadcaster BUT how much is the internet connection going to cost. Didn't AT&T cancel unlimited data plans a couple months ago.
Scott Greenstein has screwed over everybody at Sirius.
If Howard, Bubba, O&A, Jason Ellis, Scott Ferrall and even Covino and Rich happen to leave (not all at once, mind you), then it's gonna fall under Scott Greenstein's incompetence.
To put Bubba in the same category as Howard and Opie & Anthony is a joke. Howard always hated this douche. Then he got desperate looking for shows to fill up his second channel and allowed him to be signed on. You can bet Bubba was way at the bottom of Howard's list of "go-to" people. Bubba's fake, affected radio voice makes me sick to my ass. I guarantee that if Bubba leaves, Sirius/XM won't lose enough subs to even notice.
Let him go back to being a Florida sensation on FM. You don't hear a lot of radio talent striving to be a success in the Florida market. If Howard leaves I would imagine that Sirius will cancel his two channels and throw Bubba on one of the Stars channels if he agrees to take the small amount of money that the company would be willing to pay him to stay on.
If the company is so desperate to save money, Bubba would be a great place to start.
Internet radio may be the future but in case you hadn't noticed, siriusxm has a strong online presence, much more so than Radioio. If internet is indeed the future (and that future is a long way off, we don't have internet radios in our cars and we don't have the wifi to support it anyway) then if I'm Howard or O&A, given the choice I go with siriusxm online over Radioio.
Bubba's basically been off the platform for a while, I don't see him being kept around.
I didn't even think that Bubba was still being broadcast on Sirius. No joke.
I stream last.fm and slacker to my car through my iPhone and into my car's aux input. Sounds great. I also have XM in the car. I split my time among them. I predict that XM goes to a slacker/pandora/etc model, plus their current stations. Best of both worlds....
Why does Howard Stern force bubba to wear a stern jersey?
your a fag o&a mark, aren't ya?
hahahahaha lol lol lol lol lol bubba sucks ass to get noticed.BUBBA IS A CUNT BUBBA IS A CUNT. queer
