XM / SIRIUS both awarded Canadian license!
Canada just awarded XM Satellite Radio's Canadian partner - Canadian Satellite Radio - and SIRIUS Satellite Radio's Canadian counterpart - SIRIUS Canada Inc. - a seven-year license to broadcast Satellite Radio in Canada.
All they need to do is add eight Canadian channels that account for 10% of the stations offered.
This is a big day in the Satellite Radio industry! Good stuff.

This sucks. So we lose 8 fucking channels so 30 million or so poor ass Canadians have acess to satrad?? If they want it, they should just have to deal with te channels we have.

agreed charlie. they better be an amazing 8 channels. maybe like "Pop Canada!" which everyone knows the majority of pop is from america anyway so it won't really matter. Or maybe they'll bring back special x: canadian addition. It's "a-boot" time they got radio tho

If those birds in the sky cover the a good chunk of North America, might as well have a few channels to represent, even if I never listen to the espagnol or ngola channels. Doubt that these new ones will replace any current channels.

Canadian channels don't interest me too much. Although I'm sure they will be ok (if they're in english at least).
Instead of Canadian stations can we get a few Chinese ones and a few from England? That would be better. I know, it misses the whole point, but I'm sure even the canadians would prefer this.

Charlie, you are an ignorant fuck. Us "poor as canadians" didn't bitch and moan for 8 canadian content channels, that's the CRTC's doing. If you want to critize anyone, go do it to yourself for being so retarded.

Do you disagree with my post? Should bandwith really be eaten up for 8 canadian channels? And Canada is a very poor country in comparision to THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, so how can you be offended by that?
We shouldn't have our current product reduced in quality simply to dillute it to another country, in my "IGNORANT" opinion

Hey Ryan, your Canadian? I thought you lived in NY. You've been going to all those ny auto shows and stuff.

That was another Ryan - I work in NYC and live in Connecticut - and I wouldn't call anyone an ignorant fuck around here unless they really pissed me off or something.
I'm gonna change how I post to "Ryan S" from now on just so no one gets confused. I want other Ryans to be able to speak their minds without people thinking it's me. :)

Maybe 4 hours of Bob and Doug mckenzie? What the hell are they going to put on that is canadian? Maybe 2 or 3 good bands from canada. If the terestrial radio there didn't already suck ass they wouldn't need this. I say let em keep their rotten license next to their poor exchange rate and socialized medicine. screw canada.

Um, that "poor exchange rate" would have a lot to do with the American dollar these days seeing as how Canada is our Number One trading partner. As for socialized medicine, gee, how come ever industrialized nation on Earth EXCEPT for the U.S. has it if it's so terrible? I guess they're all just stupid or something to think that universal health care is wrong to provide. Yeah, fuck those poor kids who can't see a doctor when they get sick. Oh and how about those MUCH lower Canadian drug prices? That's just awful!

This agreement is damn laughable. Canadian music blows. What's next 10 mexican channels on XM and Sirius? What utter bullshit! I heard Sirius dosen't like the agreement anyway. I say screw Canada.

Ok, we give them 8 extremely low bandwith channels and just not tell them

Maybe Sirius will get all the crappy canadian stations and XM will get the decent ones!! Yeah i'm going to the Wired NextFest on Saturday!
