Q: What's the BCS?
A: A "Championship" engulfed in B.S.
Until Division 1A gets a playoff system, there will never be a true national Champion.
Go Rutgers!
Don't know if you have it Mike, but I can consider myself one of the fortunate Rutgers fans in NJ that has the NFL Network (via DirecTV) so I will at least be able to see the Texas Bowl on January 1. Back to your original point, the NCAA desperately needs changes in the Bowl system. BS is right.
i'm glad to see your guy's head coach is staying at rutgers. that lousiville cardinal game earlier in the year was amazing. i can't believe the ncaa gets away with this shitty system. at least give me a 4 team playoff. dish network has nfl network too ice. have you seen the nfl games this year? i kinda think their coverage sucks. what do you think? well it was and is an incredible college football season
To be honest Fly, I don't really watch the NFL Network that often, except maybe to get some extended highlights that you won't get on ESPNews or some Fantasy Football coverage on Gameday. I have watched the Thursday night games, and I'm definitely with you on that one. I find that the coverage is not quite up to par with SNF or MNF. I would even say it sucks. Even the picture quality from the cameras seems washed out and not as sharp compared to the other networks' broadcasts. I'm glad it's included in the package because I probably wouldn't pay extra for it.
I for one am glad that Schiano rejected the Miami offer and can continue to build Rutgers into a regional power like it should be. And that Louisville game was by far one of the best games televised this year. That whole weekend was completely chaotic in my area (I'm only about 10 miles from campus). Hopefully their success will continue because it has been a loooooong time coming.
It now looks like NFL Network is making its channel available in the NYC/NJ market (to Time Warner Cable and Cablevision) from December 28th - Post Game Wrapup for free. The Big East was also trying to get the network to broadcast on local WNBC or WWOR like the ESPN games featuring the Giants or Jets sometimes are.
No word yet on whether Comcast (which already has the NFL Network in its Digital package) will make it available to those with basic analog cable. At least more people in the area will now be able to see it.
XM actually will broadcast 27 bowl games this season with the ESPN Radio schedule and the XMSN schedule. FOX Sports granted ESPN Radio the rights to the BCS games. Those games will be heard on XM Sports Nation (which is powered by Sporting News Radio). XM also uses syndicated broadcasts from Sports USA Radio, the Nevada Sports Network, and Monarch Sports Radio on XMSN.
