XM and More Magazine to Launch Weekly Talk Show
XM Satellite Radio and More Magazine, will be launching "More Time," an hour-long weekly talk show on January 16th on XM’s Take Five channel (ch 155).
"More Time," like it's magazine counterpart, will likely target the 40+ female audience with coverage of real women, health, fashion, beauty, travel, entertainment and... more. The show will let you listen in as authors, readers, editors and women of note muse on every subject - with of course call-ins so you can add your own opinion.
Radio personality Katherine Lanpher will serve as host of "More Time." An award-winning journalist and author of Leap Days: Chronicles of a Midlife Move, Lanpher previously served as co-host of "The Al Franken Show" on Air America Radio.
"More Time" will debut on Tuesday, January 16 at 4pm ET with new episodes airing every Tuesday on XM 155 with replays throughout the week. XM also has plans to expand their More-branded presence in spring 2007 with additional short-form content.
More was named 2006 Magazine of the Year by Advertising Age.

Comments
If you all remember this time last year, XM announced a ton of fluff PR before they announced they missed their 6mm goal.
If XM did make their target, it will be in the lower side of the 7.7 estimate, way off from their original 9mm goal they set last year. Sirius hit their original 6mm goal, XM missed big time!

Sirius hit their original 6mm goal, XM missed big time!
=======================================================
It never ends does it? Nor will it. .. listen up Philmore, Sirius's 1 year plus OEM deal, although 100% leagal, skews the subscriber number. Sirius is expericing OEM churn from 1.5 years ago going on the books now. This will be a much smaller churn number as 1.5 years ago the install rates were in the 100k range while now its in the 300k per quater range. In other words, Sirius got 200k more than XM would have just cause of the OEM period. Not cause of "better content" or cause XM is anoucing "more". But how in the world can I explain to everyone that you can not compare XM's numbers to Sirius's numbers. The only things you can compare are ARPU, GROSS , and total Loss.

that same goal they had to lower recently to make sure they made it?
Posted by: Tom | January 4, 2007 1:12 PM
ya, the only numbers you can compare are the only 3 that XM still leads in
BOTH sats missed their targets
Sirius has bigger market share again this Q in sales(net) and is closing the sub gap overaall
2007 might change but who knows
im hoping XM is cfbe postive this Q too
The sat buiness model still isnt accepted on the street as workable..yet

Uh, SIRIUS' "original" goal, was 6.5MM, reiterated in June, then dropped to the 6-6.2 "range" just a few months ago. SO, no, they didn't hit their "original" guidance.

Mama....mama.....
Posted by: pockpie | January 4, 2007 1:48 PM
xzi is correct -- Sirius downgraded the estimate because the original was too ambitious, so Sirius missed its original target by slightly less than 500,000. Philmore sounds like he could be Mel in disguise!
Posted by: iband | January 4, 2007 3:05 PM
xzi and iband you are both incorrect. Sirius announced last January they expected to end 2006 with over 6 million subs. then they raised it to 6.3, then lowered it to 5.9 to 6.1.
"SIRIUS believes that the satellite radio industry will continue to experience strong growth in 2006, and the company expects to have over 6 million subscribers by the end of this year."
right from sirius' site...
http://investor.sirius.com/ReleaseDetail.cfm?ReleaseID=187963&cat=&newsroom=
so yes they did hit heir original goal of 6 million. i have no idea where xzi pulled that 6.5 number from. xm on the other hand said they would hit 9 million. they wont even break the 8 million mark.
perhaps you both should do more research before posting again...perhaps...
tsk tsk iband, clueless as usual! LMAO!!!

6.5, 6.3. Whatever, it was a miss. And if it was 6.3MM at one point, what does it matter if it was "vague" as "over 6MM" 12 months ago? I don't see how that matter...
Posted by: xzi ? | January 4, 2007 11:33 PM
it matters because before the FCC crap XM lowered their guidance by over 1 million. Sirius only recently lowered their guidance and missed their half year goal increase of 6.3mm by only 300k.
Sirius may have made it if they were not out of stock of product for almost 2 months in Q3, and out of stock of product for over 1 month in Q1 of 06. xm on the other hand stopped shipping product out before Sirius, and never ran out of product at retail during the FCC BS.
XM will miss their original estimate by over 1mm. this will mark the 2nd year in a row that xm missed their sub guidance!
also lets not forget you posted that Sirius stated 6.5mm, then iband said you were correct. you were both wrong. i hope everyone on orbitcast now sees how uneducated you 2 are in the sat radio world.
good day sir!
Xm launched 1 full year ahead of Sirius. by the end of Q4 of 2005 XM had less then 6mm subs. By the end of 2006 (1 year later), Sirius announced over 6mm subs. Sirius is growing faster than XM. Wake up people, content is winning the war! Sirius is proving to be "The Best Radio on Radio."

sirius never ran out of stock ! there were still plenty of units in stores and online during those 2 months Philmore . let it be known your also spreading crap info .

Wow, a link to Sirius's website. Then it must be true.

Sirius hit their original 6mm goal, XM missed big time!
----------------
That six million is a reduced number made by Sirius. There original was 6.3 million. XM also didn't miss big time when it came down to their final reduced number but they did reduce it twice. Only problem I have with your statement is the word original.

Hoo Hoo Screw My Fans I'm Howard Stern, can you read bro? i pasted the statement from Sirius from their q4 2005 earnings call from last feb where sirius stated they will finish over 6 million. therefore 6 million WAS their original goal. the 6.5 million goal came about half way through the year.
XM on the other hand lowered their sub guidance 3 times, not twice.
get it? Sirius increased their goal from 6mm to 6.3mm then lowered back down again to 6mm.
XM just kept lowering it from 9mm to 8.5, then to 8mm, than lowered it again to hitting at least 7.7mm, and they still couldnt meet their lowered guidance.
this is the 2nd year in a row XM missed their mark.
so there you have it Mr. hoo hoo lets go back to freefm and give our fans 23 minutes of commercials per hour during our 3 hour censored show than fall asleep during our last 2 uncensored hours at xm filled with 19 minutes of commercials per hour!

sorry bloody cape, you are wrong sir. Sirius went through a dry spell of radios at some stores. you couldnt find star mate replays, sportster replays, or S50's in any store. S50's just recently came back in stock in late november.
xm on the other hand had plenty of old stock, and they still do. you can still go to a cc or bby and see the old packaging sitting on the shelves. all new packaging with the sureconnect are in black and red boxes.
