XM and SIRIUS should merge?

BusinessWeek brings up (once again) the thoughts and benefits of SIRIUS Satellite Radio and XM Satellite Radio merging. If not into a single companies, then at the least sharing programming across both platforms. Their argument is that there’s bigger fish to fry than each other (such as Wireless Radio, HD Radio, Podcasting, etc).

I highly doubt that a merger is in order, and while the FCC SDARS licenses don’t specifically prohibit a merger, I can’t see them being happy about such a merger. BUT that said, shared programming? interoperability? Sure.
