2009 Porsche 911 CarreraXM Radio and XM NavTraffic will now be available as a factory-installed featured on all 2009 Porsche 911 models, expanding on their exclusive agreement announced two-years ago.

This also marks the first time that XM will be available in a Porsche sports car (it was previously only available in the Cayenne).

Not only does the 911 get XM Satellite Radio, but it will also get XM NavTraffic, complete with a complimentary 3-month trial subscription.

It's all part of Porsche's new Communication system, which adds on a new touchscreen interface as well as Bluetooth connectivity, an iPod port, USB port, and aux jack.

All couple of thousand sold?

Doesnt matter. Hot car.
Content is king?
Ron and Fez 12 - 3.

At most 2,000 cars with this service - who cares, about those subs? Too expensive. Reminds me of the Sirius Bentley announcement.

$95000+ dollar auto with a radio from a soon to be bankrupt, soon to be defunct satellite radio corporation. xm radio is not even close to be worthy to be mounted in the Porsche's dash.

NO! to "merge"

I'ii take two

I wonder, why Porsche didn't go with shitty HD Radio?

@AC "$95000+ dollar auto with a radio from a soon to be bankrupt, soon to be defunct satellite radio corporation. xm radio is not even close to be worthy to be mounted in the Porsche's dash.

Will someone shut this guy's piehole once and for all???

Max,

"Will someone shut Max's piehole once and for all???"

Rude, crude, ignorant and childish. Stay on topic and spend more time worrying about Max and less time worrying about what others post and asking for others to be banned who don't conform to your senseless thinking.

Yeah, It's obvious he's a whining little stooge for the National Association Of Broadcasters or one it's members, thinly posing as a so-called "Consumer Rights" group.

The large radio broadcast groups (Clear Channel, CBS, and Citade, and othersl) have lobbied the government to allow them to own dozens, if not hundreds of broadcast properties. Following the deregulation of radio, in the 90's, these broadcasting groups have pretty much destroyed their one-time value, via the elimination of meaningful, if any, newscasts, instituting of voice tracking, overstuffing the broadcast hours with annoying commercials, and cutting costs at all costs to the detriment of the station's good will.

The terrestrial radio broadcasters hypocritically seek distance from the government, in order to run their businesses as they see fit, but when the satellite broadcasting competition dared to come on the scene, and the public VOLUNTARILY choose to accept and pay for it, they quickly cried like a bunch of babies, for the government to "protect" them, either by repeating their mantra "No! to "merge"", or by trying to hadicap the merger by requiring the satellite radio industry to link its receiving equipment to terrestial broadcast linked HD Radio products, to which the American public has so-far given a collective yawn!

The terrestial radio broadcasters have had the game to themselves for so long, they've forgotten how to compete. Now, with the advent of satellite radio as competition, they want to change the game. Just recently, General Electric announced that it was getting out of the major appliance business, because, it reasoned, it was not able to compete efficiently with the new wave of global players, like Samsung, LG, Electrolux and Bosch, in a changing marketplace. If the terrestial broadcasters aren't willling to compete, then it's time to cash out and move on.

WRONG, Spazz/Detroit but thanks for your opinions, just like are desperate to pretty much destroyed their one-time value, via the elimination of meaningful direct competition between xm and sirius. Glad to know you think MONOPOLY's are a good idea for consumers and for the company. Your story sounds interesting however knowing the real facts you might think differently.

Nice try though, You can try again after you learn the truth...

You know less than nothing about this issue, and it shows. Terrestrial radio went from over 50 corporate entities and merged itself into the present six we have today.

No one can lecture satellite about a "monopoly" especially stupid little touts for an already dead technology like HD radio- unless you want to listen to Prarie Home Companion nine times in one day.

You add nothing to this forum.

Max

You Max know less than nothing about this issue, and it shows. Sat radio desperately wants to go from 2 corporate entities and merged itself into one becoming a monopoly, taking away choice, content, talent, and raising the prices.

No blind, ignorant, satradio can lecture about HD Radio being a "dead technology" and not be expected to be called out with the truth and facts to the contrary.

You add nothing to this forum. Better you spend your time listening and learning instead of continued posts proving ignorance.

generally speaking, this forum overlooks a major aspect of this business and potential that exists with announcements such as the Porsche 911 deal. Advertising revenue from blue-chip marketers will become a factor in the companies daily operations and revenues - as it is and should be with a media company - which is why I believe reaching a particular niche in the automotive market is so crucial. I would assume the CMO of P&G or A.B. would take heed in the value of SIRI/XM valuable audience. It would be really interesting/exciting to see how much new revenue would come from 17 million wealthy consumers all congregated within one entity.

i feel this topic is a true wildcard in all of these debates.

On a side note, can we ban the 'merge' monopoly guy from posting? Such ignorance is painful...

blah blah blaaaahhhhh

"On a side note, can we ban the 'merge' monopoly guy from posting? Such ignorance is painful..."

Worry about yourself, accept that others have other opinions. YOUR "ignorance is painful..." If you don't like what others have to say either call them on it with reasons/facts why you don't agree or find better yet somewhere else to loiter.

"It would be really interesting/exciting to see how much new revenue would come from 17 million wealthy consumers all congregated within one entity."

Yeah this is a pro-consumer move, NOT. I guess having the choice between Sirius and xm is too much freedom for some, and that their direct competition didn't do anything to drive the NA satradio market to the quality it is today..... again YOUR "ignorance is painful..."

so having 17 million listeners out of over 300 million is now considered anti-competitive. I've got an idea, if you don't like it, enjoy FREE radio...how's that for choice??

extreemly few 911's sold in the US .. sure thats a fact... what also is a fact is that this is what should have been in every car 2 years ago. too little too late?

Why must the anonymous coward type the word merge with "quotes" around it. "merge" what does that really mean?

AC....."Rude, crude, ignorant and childish????" stay on topic?????
